Here is what he said at the end of June:

"Recruiting becomes easy. I don't think there's one player that's been put to Lee that he doesn't like because ultimately his philosophy is what the football club's philosophy is, otherwise he wouldn't have been recruited through a lengthy process of numerous amounts of people from different backgrounds. That's the easy bit and then in terms of the actual process, it probably takes around 30 hours per player to get to that point. So that comes from football club fit, head coach fit, financial fit, culture fit, all these bits that go in. They've got to tick all the boxes otherwise they don't come through the door and it's quite complex."

Would we have wanted him as a manager of Pools? I think not!
But he was/is overseeing how the playing side of things are put together.

So how come it went so wrong so quickly?

Does the performance of the players warrant having Chris Maxwell involved?

Surely having a decent manager on a decent wage would serve a better purpose who recruits his own players.

I have no confidence in the way the club is being run.

Part of the Bromby package ex goalkeeper, maybe he could step back in between the sticks again to solve. Pools keeper issue. Top and bottom none of the Bromby team have any knowledge of running a football club, they are novices just a start up company formed in January, beyond me how Smith was taken in by them or were they the cheapest option more so who recommended them, Lee Rust ?

Given our aspirations at the start of the season, kicking off with last seasons problematic midfield and a manager with Lee Clarkes record/reputation was nothing less than incompetent.

Maxwell should be out of the door asap.

Can we please return to appointing a manager who runs the show rather than all these Klingons doing what exactly..? Because whatever they are doing ain’t working, get shot and save some cash into the bargain……

Don't get fooled again.

Perfect for Smithy to learn from.

Slightly dissapointing that he hasent broke his silence on this mess.

A bit of confirmation that he's still committed to the cause should be getting knocked out.

He is relying on Bromby that’s what he is paying them for, they got us into it, I am sure he has been in touch with them but doesn’t want to wash his dirty laundry in public.

It appears that Landon won't arrive in the town until next week, contrary to so many rumours that he is already here. Let's hope that he brings a selection of Confederate replica swords, lumberjack axes, maybe a couple of Kirk's phasers and a Red Indian scalp box with him.

Clayton and Liddle were bad enough facing the cameras the other day, post match interview will be even more embarrassing!
Maybe they should send out Maxwell to explain what is happening at Pools!

His mate Bromby has a ‘great’ title at Derby, Talent Acquisition Lead at Derby County, overseeing player recruitment and transfer negotiations..

That sounds like someone recruiting clowns for a holiday camp.

Well Derby got walloped 4-1 tonight at QPR, so he's doing a great job there alright.

Interesting that they talk about an identity being established then it becomes easy, and now Pete Wild has come in and said basically the players are unfit, lazy, not bothered, etc so the identity is going to change significantly in the coming months - hopefully from losers to competitors and winners.
After the Newcastle game Wild said some of the players don't get what's required of them, "more fool them". Wonder if we're going to see some departures shortly?
It certainly sounds as if Wild has more say than Clark had and maybe the writing is on the wall for Beech and Bromby.

Agree. Also thought it spoke volumes when Wild said he went home on Monday evening in the build up to the FGR game and was on the phone all night signing players. That is at complete odds with having Beech/Bromby running your recruitment for you; Clark saying there was no budget left; "our recruitment is done"; "it is already too hard to pick an 11" comments.

Wild is probably a bit more old school vs the new school data approach as he frequently refers to needing some men in the building who can deal with what is expected. Wild said he was getting some short-term players through the door, before they start looking at the long-term, so perhaps that remains the role of Bromby/Beech whilst Wild guides us away from the relegation zone. Who knows.

No disputing though - Bromby have mind an absolute mess of the summer with the appointment of Lee Clark. Judging by Wild's "6-8 weeks to get up to speed", the season looks done to me.

The biggest disappointment has been Nolan. He looked unplayable for Morecambe but is now a complete shadow of the player he was. Hope he doesn't leave & finds his way back but I think he is one Wild is referring to about not stepping up.

DARYL CLARKE knocked us back because he wasent happy with the working conditions.
More than likely dident want to go through Bromby Failures on the recruitment.

I now Reckon there's been a 100 % uturn were Wild has said if you want me it's on my terms.

Hindsight eh.

Looks like Smithy is now learning from his mistakes. He's just got to hope the fans can return next season.

if you look at his career its a real mixed one and ending as a free agent before morecambe picked him up. think i have read it somewhere about his fitness problems so if true and he does get fully up to speed we could have the bestter version of the lad.

Pete Wild kept Nolan on for the full 90m minutes against Newcastle U-21s (Harris was subbed at half-time). He obviously wants a lot more from both players otherwise he wouldn't have started Hugill and Popov against FGR. Can't see them being the long-term solution up front.

Nolan and Harris got a lot of flack for their performances when they came on at 3-0 up against the Vegans, but the change of tactics to defending the lead did them no favours. Charlie Thornton came on at the same time - good attacking midfield prospect, but I bet a lot of fans didn't even notice he was on the pitch. Chasing and harrying while the rest of the team sits deep is a thankless task.

Nolan looks like a 'confidence' player to me so the fact that he scored on Tuesday night is a big plus. If he starts banging a few in from long-range like he was doing for fun last season opinions about him will soon change.

it must be hard for anybody who manages pools because at the moment we seem to be carrying players who cannot do a full 90 minutes therefore we are having to use a number of our suns for this and not necessary for tactical reasons.

Today Pete Wild said he had discussions with Chris Maxwell and LEE RUST who we were told had left the club. He was Raj's boy and surely should not be anywhere near things now. Do us all a favour and get rid what a waste of space.

Rust is described in the interview as an 'advisor' to the club, which means he's yet another paid gobshite taking money off Landon Smith. It's amazing that anything is left for players.

Rust has been around 'advising' Pools ever since Graeme Lee's time as manager - and has been a party to umpteen bad decisions. When is this ever going to end?

See one Raj hanger-on has definitely gone - Lenny Lawrence is now advising Hampton & Richmond Borough, 3rd bottom in the National League South.

To be fair to Auld Len - he'll have forgotten more than Lee Rust ever knew about football

To many unneeded staff.
Not the staffs fault.
They ain't Gunna turn down job offers.

This season now wrote off. A major learning curve season now where the out of contract axe needs swinging where applicable.

Surely has to go to plan next season.

Why is Lee Rust at Pools, Graham Lee said he should never be allowed near a football club.

I’ve got some anti rust compound in my bunker……if Pools want it I can drop it off at the Vic……?
