Going by the number who bother to vote the majority don’t appear to be interested in who governs the U.K., compulsory voting should be introduced then no one can complain, proportional representation might be a good idea as well.

Aye as me owld dad used to say.
When you get rid of one lot of politicians all you can guarantee is that they will be replaced with another lot of politicians.
Party first, Country somewhere after that and not necessarily second, and the people well they fit in where we can find a place for them.
Anybody think we will fare better than that????
Good luck if you do.
To hear people talk a new government is going to take us to Utopia. It won't happen because it's fantasy, the place doesn't exist.

When people are disillusioned by all politicians, it’s the politicians who need to look in the mirror.
ALL Party’s listen feverishly to the noisy 2% and ignore the Elephant in the room.
If compulsory voting came in there’s ways of short circuiting it, personally I‘d vote for some obscure party….that’s if the ‘West Hartlepool Axe throwers and Freelance Castrators Party’ are putting a candidate up to begin with.

You a Starmer shill Jamie….?
Yvette Cooper has never made a stirring speech in her life, all voter friendly tosh for the gullible. Leopards don’t change their spots, they’ll revert to form when in power and let the the boats continue…plus the massive legal immigration…the Tory’s are shite, but Labour ain’t gonna improve the situation one jot.
Anyone who thinks things are going to get better on the boats under Starmer is taking too many recreational drugs.

Everything she said was true or did you actually bother to watch the video, I doubt it, no one can stop the boats fact or even discourage them, these are desperate people.

Who are you a fan of Snowy, Tice, Farage, Rees Mogg, Cameron, Johnson, Sunak, Truss etc you sound like a right wing voter with a deep hatred with anything connected to the Labour Party.

Labour aren’t in power so there is no way you can predict what will happen, it can’t be any worse than the last 14 years under the Tories.

Desperate people? yeah ok.
They all look fit, well fed, dress in nice clothes, nice trainers & all seem to have a mobile phone.
That is not a sign of desperation for me.
They come because they know they’ll be looked after for 2 years before having to look for a job.
Free good accommodation, free food, free medicine, the mobile dentist will visit,so they don’t even have the trouble of leaving their free accommodation.
Some of them are even being provided with free e-bikes,by the nearly bankrupt Nottingham Council.
You couldn’t make it up.

I’m curious as to which of the conventions and protections afforded in the ECHR you find so deplorable that mean that we must join Belarus and Russia as the only European countries not covered by the EHCR? So bad that you’d tear up the good Friday agreement which relies on the participation in the EHCR.

The rawanda scheme is nothing more than a performative gimmick that does nothing to remotely address the problem. They created the backlog to have a scapegoat to distract from the dire state of most areas of the country. Economy in a recession, child poverty levels are record highs, local authorities going bankrupt, record food bank levels, rising unemployment, cost of living crisis, immigration uncontrolled, first parliamentary period on record where people are worse off at the end than the start, record waiting times in the NHS, social care on its knees, billions of ££ of covid debt not being chased, etc. etc. etc.

But yes, let’s blame the migrants (who in the vast majority of circumstances are successful in their asylum claims when they’re finally processed), or blame the rainbow lanyards, or someone in the trans community as the thing that really needs to be blamed and focused on.

The two are not related in my eyes and Personally never blamed anyone from out side the country for our internal problems…..but….how many people would you actually allow into the country…..
What has ‘trans community’ got to do with anything in this respect ?

Yes this country is in such a terrible state that hundreds of thousands of people are illegally invading it and risking life and limb to come here.
Obviously Mr Something clever is pissed off with the place to such an extent he is making his exit for pastures new, thus ridding himself of all the woes he listed, although the economy is not in recession, it is currently growing according to the stats that measure these things.
Let me be the first to wish Mr SC well in his quest to find a better life and surroundings. Good luck mate. Try and keep us up to date with your progress.
I'll be staying here in this horrible land of my Fathers, simply because I have travelled elsewhere and nowhere I've seen has tempted me away from our green and pleasant land.
And nowhere has a football club who attracts my passion that Hartlepool United does.
I'll put up with the squalor, hunger, deprivation, cost of living, lack of health and social care, crime, etc etc, oh and even the bloody weather.
Good luck to all who decide to chance their arm in the other man's green and luscious grass.
Mind start depriving me of me pint and my views will change. :angry-tappingfoot:

surely adding more migrants and the costs involved are not helping with the problems that we already have. you mention a rise in unemployment. if that is true then one of the reasons for having more to add to the figures make no sense whatsoever and at this moment of time one extra person into the country makes our other problems just one person worse.

Good point Mr Accy. You can add the extra burden on the NHS, Education, Housing etc etc, all of which are an extra burden on the public purse, which incidently these people haven't contributed a penny to.
Then there is law and order. They arrive here by breaking the law so chances are they might consider exploiting that route even further.
But hey Kier is mounting his white charger as we speak so all bodes well.

they arrive hear by breaking the law but are the ones who have the money to do it unlike many from their country who have the wish to do it but not the cash. not exactly what you think a downtrodden asylum seeker avoiding persecution actually is. good idea who would be making the opposite journey from this country to another would be. it aint going to be the rough sleeper or the family man living on the breadline.

yes, and where do they get them from after chucking their original ones in the channel along with any documents they had if they had nothing whatsoever to hide. bet there are plenty of people born and bred in this country who would like a better phone or bike but have no do gooders to provide them with one. i,d take it a step further by saying the ones who provide these would not dream of doing the same for a neighbour in the shit financially especially if they had a white face. thats too much like looking after your own thats not as fashionable as it one was.

And you were one of them but here you are back amongst us, as are others.
People are voicing their thoughts and opinions on a very sticky matter to us all. No one is asking you to agree but it is very grown up and sensible to accept that people may have a different opinion to you and it is also very sensible and grown up to respect that opinion even though you may not agree with it. I'd hazard a guess that you would find it extremely difficult to find a Daily Mail letter writer on here. Personally I wouldn't have the rag in my house and have never ever bought it. You have your little snipe if that makes your clock tick but I suggest you couldn't be further from reality.
As I recall some of the members who had a hissy fit and took their bat home only had time for one opinion.....theirs.
Everyone is welcome on the bunker full stop, just as everyone is free to leave. We don't press gang anyone to join or stay. Just behave reasonably civilised.

Daily Mail eh….last time l read that was in 1973 at my hotel in Birmingham when one was delivered to your room every morning before breakfast….funnily enough it was the Yom Kippur War featuring on the front page….when the Egyptians, Syrians and Jordanians invaded Israel….didn’t end well. Somethings never change.
Our boss at breakfast told us some people just don’t get on. He had a point.

Gone are the good old days when it was old ladies and gents who stepped off the coaches for a week's holiday down here and everyone felt safe walking round the town centre even at midnight ,bit different now..

I don’t think many have left, there is only a handful of members who post regularly on The Bunker, members are still out there but they stopped posting/commenting because everything they posted or commented on even if it was factually correct was met by belittling or spiteful replies from ‘the old guard’ if they didn’t agree with what they said, cyber bullying in modern day terms.

Are you serious? They were perfectly capable of defending themselves in any argument ……certainly not shy at coming forward in all the years they were on here.
As regards your pet hate of ‘cyber bullying’ ……being a vigorous debater is what it’s all about and losing or winning a debate is not ‘bullying’…..so stop trying to defend poor debating skills as evidence of victimhood.

This is a message board where debates take place, that’s the idea.
Life’s about winning or losing……you yourself and others place great store by winning every time Pools play and losing is taboo….you tell us frequently do you not?
I’m only playing with words and debating is about winning, that is the term used in debate, y’know, ‘winning’ the argument…..it has been since time immemorial …it’s about opinions or it wouldn’t be called…debating.
Nice try…..but it’s exactly what YOU do when you argue your viewpoint about the running of the club.

possibly you have had it too easy for too long and know now what many of us have had to put up with for years. you have seen nothing yet and eventually there will be nowhere to move to avoid it. one thing is if you live near a chippy you will not need to bother as more spicy smells will be drifting into your living rooms shortly on more regular intervals.

If anybody doubts what Mr Accy is saying just have a walk from Bradford Forster St Station up Manningham Lane to Bradford City's Valley Parade.
Word of advice, take a nose peg with you.

Snowy you are one of the worst offenders, if you don’t agree with some one’s opinion they get the wrath of your tongue, there is only one opinion yours end of.

Watched the summing up by the judge at sentencing yesterday about our local killing and it certainly opened my eyes.

I’m curious as to which of the conventions and protections afforded in the ECHR you find so deplorable that mean that we must join Belarus and Russia as the only European countries not covered by the EHCR?

Why on earth is everyone so worried about the Good Friday agreement. It was nonsense and only accepted by the IRA/SF because they were comprehensively beaten.

Its not diversity if everyone you are bringing in is from the same place---people making the decisions are insulated from the negative consequences so get to pat themselves on the back as though they are some racial champion while they make people who live in this countries life steadily worse.
Add to that the attempted brain washing of the younger generation, and the relatively low birth rates in the native demograpgh and you have a recipe for a nation imploding on itself.
