Are we putting all our eggs into one basket. chasing someone who may not come….?
I’d have liked someone in ASAP after Lee went, especially when the owner knew he was off , …….to get the holiday camp squad organised for next season, but…….. :angry-tappingfoot:

yes, a pointless waste of time with the clock ticking to tout the club around just in case someone may take the job on. said it before that we and others have not learned from the old days of just advertising the thing. at least then you will get people who want the job. when appling they,ll have a rough idea of the budget available for players and what they could screw out of raj with their contract.

Been quite a few rumours
.
It could be anyone
.
Mowbray with this much publicized excellent budget would be my choice.
But most probably be a Dog n Duck sunday league manager who gets the santasack for Xmas who dosent get the Budget.

Announce Sol. He deserves a chance at a progressive club who can pay the wage bill every month, unlike Macclesfield and wherever else he was. 3 euros, 3 world cups, 2x premier league, 2 fa cups, 80 odd England caps. Can we forgive that one appearance at notts county tho I dunno?

The fact there has been news today after Wilds halifax lost last night - gives even more suggestion for me it may be Wild. Has he taken that team as far as he can. Is prepared to have another crack at it and still be not guaranteed a promotion to the league. Has Raj converted his thinking that his career now best lies with an ambitious club like Pools with its strong following and hopefully chest of gold for new recruits ? All will be revealed soon so im told !

Tomorrow is 3 weeks that Graeme Lee was sacked. It is now clear there hadn't been initial conversations with a new potential manager before Lee was sacked and we were starting from a clean slate (else it wouldn't have taken so long).

Its clear there were discussions with Hartley, both statements could be correct (from both Hartley and Pools). Pools held initial discussions with Hartley, from those discussions Hartley was the first to indicate it wouldn't be going further - Pools didn't ever offer him the role.

Todays statement about having a final shortlist is interesting given whats happened with two decent NL managers being dumped out of the playoffs.

It could be a slow process to sign a new manager from this point, it could be quick.

In his interview on 12th May Raj was clear he needed to get rid of Lee because of poor form and the pressure would build on Raj himself. This appointment is no different, the timing needs to be right and who it actually is, is critical after his previous mistake.

In that same interview he had said he hoped to have someone in place in 2 weeks time, which is Friday. Raj knows if we start to go beyond that we head into the realms of last summers poor recruitment which started on 19th June.

Me personally, I would like Wild. He has the right level of experience, passion and ambition - lets see if the situation and timing is right for him personally.

I’m sure you’ll compose one for a small fee and hope one gets the job.

...so how do you work that one out exactly ?..well possible that conversations had been had before bonehead sacked..a certain person maybe interested..ok...once bonehead is out the door 5/5/22 further discussions had..one or two big sticking points..parties go away..no you will have to accept this..nothing we can do about that..certain person eventually pissed off with it all and calls a halt....agent drops a line to the press as a thank you about a week or so later..pools already onto other people "going in a different direction" and say he was never offered the job..technically correct..no formal contract put in front of him to sign as didn't get that far...but that's about it....pools already on to plan b c or d when the hartley story hits the press..."It is now clear there hadn't been initial conversations with a new potential manager"..no think you might be possibly wrong there ...but i know nothing before you ask..

I find the timetable from Lee’s departure nothing unusual for having opened negotiations with a replacement before his departure. These things appear to come from nowhere but drag out contingent on multiple factors that hit obstacles from involved parties.

without looking i,ll give you one, john coleman at accrington. he,s not doing a bad job without ever playing full time pro football. we are looking for a manager and not someone who had a glittering playing career that means sod all in doing another job. wild did a decent job in a couple of caretaker spells at basket case oldham as well as competing well in the NL without a suger daddy. he is used to managing with a small budget which is what we need. even the most succesful manager who relies on a big cheque book would struggle at pools and plenty of others once its took away from them.

I didn’t realise he hadn’t played professionally.

Others include (that I know of) in the EFL: Mark Bonner, Ben Garner, and Kieran McKenna.

Quite a few big name managers haven’t played either and whilst it’s not common I don’t think it’s a problem.

For what’s it’s worth I would be really disappointed if we got Wild.

My Postman tells me we are due for news tomorrow on the manager - his son works for the northern echo so im led to believe or the same office in which their press team are... something along those lines - Postys love a bit gossip.

anyways if it is Wild ... id hope he will bring with him the best of the Halifax players - some good lads in that side who id think would make it in the League

I hope this manager realises Nelson is still at the club, before he takes it. Whoever it is will need to be an expert at working with a shoestring, so you would have to think wild would be favourite.

Recent Hartlepool managers with 'successful' playing careers include Colin Cooper and Matty Bates so unsure what your point is?
Pete Wild has a 46% win rate in the division below with a side with a bottom half budget. Thats roughly the same win rate as Challinor got with us. I appreciate everyone will want different managers and not everyone will be able to agree on them which is fine but who would you want as the next manager?
Your agenda against the Head of Recruitment is also ridiculous

He was a Lee appointment that is obvious. However he was also at Rotherham in a similar role so he obviously has something about him. Bradford appointed a HoR from Middlesbrough who also hasn't played football and they've been making what their fans think are good signings.
If you're on about Nelson as one of the others then I'm with you. He should've gone after the final game of the season and if he's still here next season I will not be happy

Im not hanging on Postman Eds every word here btw... just thought id let the board know what ramblings are going on throughout other channels of gossip within the town - the guys been going with his son the last 10 years and himself a season ticket holder probably over 20 - Again he didnt say names just an announcement to be had - could be the chip fryers fixed who knows might be feck all ! :character-smurfguy:

but yeh Nelson needs to go too fully still agree with that - cant see an experienced manager coming in and wanting him as his No.2.
Bit like if anyones ever been in the position within their working lifes where your day job get marred with having the apprentice for the week and all you find yourself doing is looking for the little bugger or telling him off. :hand:

Maybe on a slightly different contract to Lee hence why he is still there. Not sure what the club are thinking having him still there? His record is nothing short of shocking.

Never realised Phil Brown left Barrow because they couldn’t agree terms…..were Barrow a bit tight with the cash as well.
The report from the local Halifax paper was in true local paper tribute style, nothing of any consequence and full of fluff, rainbows and unicorns, probably give a Hitler a sympathetic farewell.

So far we have a Scottish manager from cove rangers, that football giant apparently knocking us back. Now we have a guy who is supposedly on the short list, going to some football giants in the north west, add to Challinor last year publicly coming out and saying what was offered could be classed as derogrotory and you start to get some sort of impression, were struggling to attract or keep anyone.

This exciting short probobly includes someone from the league of Wales, a northern league manager who has hardly won a match and an under 23 manager from the faroe isles.

Barrow to announce new manager tommorow. Sounds like it will be wild.

Could be that Wild is thinking a 2 year contract at Barrow will get honored while a 2 year contract at Pools could end at 5 months
3 weeks
6 days
23 hours
59 seconds.
Add in the promise of a excellent budget that is just shitcrack then its a nobrainer decision.
