Right....Protest This Saturday....Protest No.1!!!!

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Good luck to the protestors today, let's hope this gets the owners to take some notice of us for a change.

Reasoned point.

If the owner doesn't give a fuck about the club, do you think he'll give a fuck about a protest.

There's a way to manage the discontent and I'm (or not) surprised that it's not been mentioned or covered. Take a look around you in the ground today as you're walking around doing your thing. Don't look at the crowd, don't look at the pitch because for that 10 minutes you cease to be part of it, but look at the ground as if it was empty and take stock of who is there when the ground is empty. These are the people you need to speak to, but in a grown up, joined up manner.

MadJohn wrote:Yes, good luck.

I've got some small concerns about the nature of the protest as I feel it's a little misdirected. A protest aimed at the owners is all very well, as is a protest at a JPT game. But a matchday protest, during a tough but very winnable league game, I'm not so sure. Anything that could have a negative effect on the team, no matter how small, leaves me a little uneasy.

But it's well intentioned, and it's good to see a little passion. Way better than drama tarts queuing up to try to outdo each other with their tales of just how long they've been a supporter and just how bereft and disenfranchised and disinterested they've become. "Never, in all my 85 years as a supporter, man and boy, have I ever felt so...." Oh do shut up.

Hopefully we'll see a reaction from the top and maybe a statement from Mr Hodcroft. Anything is better than silence.

Those are pretty much my thoughts on the matter, I don't really like the idea but if it serves to get something ...anything out of Hodcroft then it's worthwhile. I'd compare it to poking him with a stick. Its saying we care about this club, do you still?

Hopefully today is a day when the players give us something to get behind if they do the crowd will respond and get right behind them. The last thing we need is things to go the other way it will be toxic if it does.

Good luck to everyone taking part. I can't be there today but I'm up for the Carlisle game and will join in for that one. Keep spreading the word, and I reckon a few people will be surprised at what we can achieve.

Chants of " this is a library" from pompey so I really don't think a couple of hundred walking behind the stand for ten mins will make any difference.

I'm sure I said it needed publicising more for it to be effective. And fact that it was a minority of a minority (the bunker) would mean it was waste of time. Now I didn't take part ,reason I didn't was to look at the mill House and ck stands and see how many took part. I didn't notice anyone as such. They could have been going to the bog. Sad thing as well KH was in attendance. Now I would like anyone who took part , and I respect those who did to tell me
(A) what it achieved
(B) would it be better to attempt to give more people information next time, as I suggested and not to keep it toa small minority of fans of which for whatever reason many of that minority won't be at the game. Lot mouthed off but weren't being there today
I was awoken last night by Darlo fans in the street playing football with a hedgehog
I was absolutely digusted and about to call the RSPCA when the hedgehog went 1-0 up.

I'm probably going to get hammered for this and thought about not saying anything but in the interests of honesty....I was waiting for someone to go....saw literally one bloke from my stand (family bit of CK) and no more than 4 leave the Millhouse. To be perfectly honest, I thought 'well they could be going for a piss/pie/pint' and 'maybe Ken's been on the Bunker this morning and confirmed Cooper has £1m to spend in January' (the last bit's a lie).

I didn't go because I wasn't sure anyone was going.

If you are actually in Hull Mr Toe, I can vouch for how hard it is to get to games - I live on the east coast, 20mins away from Hull and it takes me a good 4 1/2 to 5hrs as a round trip to home games (£35 in petrol or £40 if I drive like a twat then tickets on top) and our area isn't exactly awash with cash...it's only been the last year and a bit that I've been in a position to go.

Reasons that people did not join the protest.

- There wasn't a clear message.
- The timing was poor
- People didn't know about it.
- People didn't want to miss any of the match.
- In general many Poolies probably aren't as anti IOR as people who post on here.

If people didn't join in the protest it wasn't because they don't give a fuck - if they didn't give a fuck they wouldn't be at the match in the first place. It was because they either didn't know about it or agree with it.

There were many people who were banging the drum for protesting who are there week in week out that couldn't make todays game for various reasons.

As for Ken trousering money...?? Pools have barely had time to spend the Luke James money - if it isn't spent in January then that will be the time to start protesting in my opinion...

No one is disputing that times are tough and the budget is tight. The budget that has been made available probably hasn't been used as wisely as it could have been. All clubs have times where they aren't splashing the cash. Hopefully it is only a short term situation.

I've been in Hull just over a year Shilts. Nightmare drive home when it's needed - minimum 4 hours round trip and a full tank in our old little car £45.

Was hoping to get up for the Sheff Utd league trophy game, but suggestions on here are it's undergoing a boycott from the fans - having said that, reading about the 'support' today, fuck it, might head up anyway.

Cracking idea monkeybutt - I asked a Hull based fellow Poolie if he fancied making the journey north - unfortunately he has friends visiting so couldn't make it. Shame, as that would've swayed me to head up.
