It might be an idea for Mark Simpson to interview Colin Cooper/Russ Green in a PoolsWorld interview to give us an insight on their thinking on the retained list and the sort of developments we might see before next season. My threepennyworth would be:

1. After a number of years of failure on the pitch why have only two regular first-teamers been released. Why not more?
2. Why have players who have made little impact for a number of seasons not been released?
3. Are we moving into an era of a smaller playing staff augmented by a number of loans?
4. How does CC intend to get players who have been inconsistent this season to perform better next season?
5. What positions are the club looking to fill? How many new faces are there likely to be by the start of the season?
6. How can we rekindle the spirit that saw us punch above our weight for a number of years?
7. Are we looking to sign permanently any of the players we have had on loan?
8. When will we see new signings?

Such an interview would be much more interesting than the usual season review videos and links to what happened xx years ago. Perhaps someone with closer links to the club or on the supporters panel could suggest it.

We need a younger Michael Brown player a real horrible git in the middle of the midfield to harass players break up play and stick the boot in. For last few years we have been to nice and I am all for playing football but you need a little shithouse in the middle to do the donkey work.

It would still be all talk, though, wouldn't it?
I'll not repeat what I've said before, but unless I see some promising action, I'm not renewing my season ticket. Neither are my family, and they're usually much more tolerant than I am and tend to put up with more!

I agree with female one.

Its just words.

And if Cooper really said what he thought, KH would sack him.

Lets see how Pools progress with signings compared to everyone else.

We usually go off on holiday, and whilst we are away the other clubs do their business, and then the same players turn up for pre-season, and we see a few strange faces on trial.

And then they usually disappear just as quick.

Meanwhile, the club still push the season tickets......like its some sort of Golden ticket.

a bloke at work is an Accrington fan. He says every year they pretty much clear out the first 11, bar a couple, then bring in a rake more free transfers for the new season. This leads to an inevitable period for the first 3 months of the season where they are shite because nobody knows each other and they are still trying to gel.

Maybe a bit of continuity is not such a bad thing. Although I do agree it is plainly ridiculous to offer Sweeney a new contract.

You see, this sort of logic doesnt make sense to me.

Do you have an irrational fear that you might be missing out on something?

What if we sign no one, Cooper leaves, and we get a yes man running the show, and we tumble towards the conference? Its hardly a good deal then, is it?

If, on the otherhand, we do REALLY well, and are going for promotion, or the play offs, and you didnt get a season ticket, then £20 a fortnight admission is hardly going to break the bank is it?

The £20 ticket is hugely over priced as we stand, but if we are going for promotion then most would pay it.

People get ever so protective of the season ticket ticket.

Nothing to do with the performances for me, I go when I'm not working and might only be able to make 8 or 9 home games. It still works out cheaper for me to buy a ST than pay on the day so I'm stuck. The gap is so stupidly big I have no choice.

Some serious inaccuracies there. I may sue.

I was player manager then, and was the dirtiest player of all.

I dont like Candy floss.

And I used to run over the dunes with the rest.

Well until I spewed up after the fourth climb.

And it wasnt a junior team.

How fucking old do you think I am?

Yes, god yes, what a horrible player.

A lot of teams that win regularly need a 'horrible player' or two I'd say it's something we've been missing for a number of years. Especially one who's as good a footballer as him.

He'll aways have my respect as if you look at his career in the 600 plus career appearances they've all been in the top two divisions for clubs as big as Man City and Spurs apart from 6 games for Hartlepool United who as a Premier League player he came and helped keep his home town club in the football league. So he'll never be a horrible player in my eyes. He's a lad from the Town who's had an excellent career.

I'm not saying the rumour is true or he'd even consider finishing his career in League Two but he's possibly exactly the type of character we need to help us win more matches.

And you probably played cricket with him!

It IS stupidly big but thats not the point.

If the football is absolute rock bottom, then £180 is a rip-off.

If its good, then I will pay up when I can.

I am long past the point where I believe, like I used to, that I owe my time and money to Pools.

I used to work with a guy who was related to Micky Brown. He told me that brown had always said he would finish his career at pools. So I wouldn't be surprised to see him come in.

I watched him the other week playing for Leeds, he was flying into challenges and had the 2 opponents running scared. His vision seems very good aswell.

I'm not saying he'd be a "sensational" singing but ad take him for a year definately. He's from the town and knows what it means to wear the shirt. I don't think it would be a bad signing at all, would give cooper some experience and I'd much rather see him play than Walton

Aye, only once or twice I think.

He actually got hit in the eye and had to go to hospital shortly before he was due to join Man City if memory serves me right.

Actually I think Mr ElvisC's Dad took him to A&E and he was fearing the wrath of Joe Royal.

I've seen Brown play a couple of times this season for Leeds and he has looked decent, kicked Will Hughes out of the game last week against Derby and he's been linked to Liverpool. Definitely has another year left in him at this level

True story! When he was on loan at Pools, Browny and me Dad opened the batting for Hartlepool Seconds in an early season game at Park Drive. I'm NOT exaggerating here...Browny had 50 before me Dad had 4. He also ran the old feller ragged, running fours and taking quick singles, turning two's into VERY fast threes etc. Me Da was shagged out after 7 overs!! Outstanding cricketer and a player I'd drive to collect from Leeds every game if he signed for us.

Fuck Browny

I once shared an opening stand with your Dad of over 100.

At that point in time, he ordered me to get myself out to give someone else a bat.

I think it might have been something to do with the fcat that we were both trying to play like Geoff Boycott, and he was captain.

During the next season I shared an opening partnership of 90 with L. Robinson. I was first out for 3. FACT

Pools don't show long-time servants the door. They just do what they did with Humps, remember?
They make them an offer they can refuse.

I bet he would beat Walton at winning most red cards per season, he is slowing down and the lunge becomes the favoured tackle!

Could be a decent signing but I imagine he was on a good wage at Leeds, would add much needed experience to a young side.

no chance whatsoever of signing Brown when we have just got rid of players who earned the most money at Pools!!!

Larsen is struggling to stay out of jail and to be honest I'll be amazed if we're still a league club in 3 or 4 years !!!
