Rowell? So much for the youth policy.
Clark? So much for utility players
Jones doesn't want to play for us so he can sod off
As for others released and retained not surprised.

Only one I would disagree with is Rowell. Clark not really "utility" and was poor last season and is lost in midfield.

Only really surprised by rowell there. Must be more to it as he is reported to have the ability...

banghead banghead

Another season exactly the same
Massive change around, same numb manager, same performance and end result

Rowell being released is a disgrace, everyone can see he needed to be given a run in that team and was good enough to be given that chance

How many of you arent getting season tickets now? Is it really worth it to watch that garbage again?

Or alternatively you could wait to make that decision when you see who might replace the released players.

Mackay had his contract up at the end of last year didn't he? Surely to god he wasn't given a two year contract?

So, last year Turner said he gave Mackay a renewed contract. Surely it can't have been for more than a year???????????????????????????????????????

It has got to be easier to understand the thoughts and logic of the mothers union than to unravel what goes on in Turner's " football " brain.

I disagree on two levels; the brain existing and it being anything to do with football.

And sure enough we have just seen this plan. Mackay was given at least two more years.
He had us all fooled with this one.

Is Mackay employed by IOR directly so they can right his wages of against tax?

I'd have liked to have seen Rowell and Jones given another season with a proper manager in charge. I think there is real potential there and it will bite us on the arse in the future. I'd have certainly sacrificied the wage of either Collins or Humphreys to bring them both through but that was never going to happen, was it? They obviously need to learn to clap the fans a bit longer.

The 4 youth team lads offered Professional terms must be wondering how they will get a chance.

When did our Youth system last produce a 1st team regular?

I know where Rowell went wrong, he didn't do enough public badge kissing or cry like a big daft lass on the pitch. Or put in a couple of years of shite performance and then try really hard for the last couple of games when the publicity is around.

And to think most of us down there on Saturday stayed behind to cheer them off as the players celebrated as though they had won the f.a.cup:):)

nice over reaction by the know it all's as usual..

Let's go back to having a weak as piss bench which cannot change a game ALA Wilson shall we with untried youth and players who wouldnt get a game at the wreck? Humps = Squad player who can steady the ship with 10 mins to go if winning, Collins = again squad player.. But let's not let that get in the way of a pop at the club and Turner eh?

the thing is, none of us really know what the attitude & application of the likes of Rowell & Jones were. Turner & West saw them in training every single day. For all we know they both could have been lazy & disinterested. They both have undoubted potential, but theres more to football than ability.

We also need to see who he brings in to replace them, we look decidedly light at the back and in central midfield now.

No surprises at all in that list.

Those whinging about Humphreys and Sweeney might want to think about the importance of having experience both on the pitch and in the dressing room.

For all we know, new midfielders may be signed and be regulars, and the two mentioned above may be bench players (Sweeney has been for a while now)

I'm going to wait and see how it pans out.

Can't argue with that but if you are a manager do you

a) Ditch the good players that can't be arsed.

b) Work to find out what makes the good players tick to get the best out of them.

Turner definately did that with Jones, it worked for about 3 games.

Also, how do we know Jones didn't go to Turner and say "Don't bother offering me a contract, i'm leaving no matter what."

I'd be disheartened if I seen inferior players selected time after time irrespective of performance. When staff are demotivated look at their management first.

In your working lives, who of you haven't been pissed off because of what you percieved to be an incompetent manager? How did that affect your work performance? and why would that be any different just because your job is kicking a ball about?

Good points. Very true. It's something that needs looking at.

We don't know what the plans are for next season about the starting 11. There were people on here advocating Humphreys as a potential manager/assistant. How do we know that this is not the plan for the future, hence the retained list?
