I thought he could sign for another club and if the clubs can't agree a fee then it goes to a tribunal. Given his goal scoring/assists record in the EFL and NL I can't see him being valued at £100k. Its a risk that a signing club might not be prepared to take. A guide would be how much we paid for the lad from Barnet. The league will know even if we don't.

If there really are several League One clubs interested, it's up to one of them to make a decent compensation offer that Pools are willing to accept. An interested club holding out for a tribunal to set the figure could end up paying a lot more.

At the minute, seeing is believing. Meanwhile, it's less than a month till the EFL season starts...

It does go to a tribunal but will still be about 70-80K

I don’t believe any League One side would be interested. His goal scoring record, even in non-league for us, is far from impressive. He never looks fully fit to me and is too easily pushed off the ball. The only thing going for him is his age, and the fact he might improve and get fit.

Agreed. Of course, this begs the question what happens to Joe's career? I could imagine an NL or EFL 2 club signing him for nothing but I cant imagine anyone offering a fee for him. Would he sign for Pools as a last resort (after all, he has bills to pay like the rest of us) and try and prove himself?

Going on the stats, he’s nothing exceptional to other clubs…what we see is not what others see.

Hasn't really improved in the last couple of years imo. Possibly because he's not been playing where he's most effective, he's also been in and out of the side.
When a lot of clubs are now using stats when considering signing new players, he's not really shown himself to be worth a £70k punt.

Hasn’t trained properly for weeks so where ever he goes or stays he won’t be match fit, as I said his head being turned by an agent touting him to clubs in the EFL who don’t appear to be interested in signing him.

He's a lot better than staying at Pools.

Lets not worship the always injured Mancini then slate Joe.

We forcing him out the club to make a few quid.

Somebody else's gain will be our loss and for sure a downgraded replacement will be on its way.

Even though I won’t be going (while a certain person is still in control), I’d like to see Joe Gray get fit, play every game and steadily improve. Under the right manager I still think he could do well for us.

the thing is he hasn,t improved like many expected him to do apart from the odd game. injuries have not helped him but neither have managers who to be fair like me do not actually know what his best position on the pitch really is.

even with a good owner i,d hate pools to be doing that if we were in league div.1 for a similar player.

If Pools wanted to cash in on Joe they'd have done it at the end of last season. Think a few people have forgotten how good he was for Askey and Phillips - 13 goals, 10 assists, more often than not playing alongside Mani in a front two.

He spent most of last season stuck out wide right or wide left - not his best position at all, especially wide left. Cleary came in and showed how it was done. Blame the second or third-rate managers we had last term.

got a point there. that was his best part of his career with us but managers were obsessed by the manni/ madine partnership that never came off. however players need to fill in the gaps caused with injuries and he was not the only player asked to do a job they were not at there best doing.

And let's not forget his goal v Blackpool to set up a Palace money spinner for you know who.

When fully fit which he will get back to and in a decent team he will be Awesome.

think awesome is a bit much. at best one of those players who can good in a good side but not as good in a poor one. its not knocking the lad but a fact for many.
