As a fan i just want to be entertained with some hope of success and to be able to go to the pub and say "yes i enjoyed that". I agree with your point and statement "have a football identity and style of play which doesn't change as personnel (managers and players) come and go". If we were to have that and it be expansive play i would be more than happy whatever the result.

going right back to the 50.s and pre cloughie days pools did have a double identity. decent or good at home depending on the season but totally crap looking soft touch away where they seemed just waiting for the inevatable defeat.

Up to the 90’s …..for me, a draw away was great…but a win away was magnificent…easy pleased, but you were when that’s all you had to go by.

I started going away in the early 80s, the first away win I saw was in 1984 when les mutrie got the winner at feethams. Three years to see an away win, trying telling kids that these days

You were lucky. When I were a lad we had to wait three years for a Pools home win!

On the net just now.

@JustinHUFC
Emmanuel Dieseruvwe is reportedly set to sign for Rochdale, while Joe Grey is the subject of strong interest from Doncaster Rovers. Meanwhile, there appears to be little activity regarding incoming transfers at Hartlepool United.

Really shudder to think who we get up front, my prediction some bloke from a league below who barely made it into double figures, a kid on loan no one has heard of, and some diatribe about how either Folarin or Campbell are tearing it up in training and are like a new signing

I shudder to think how many points we will get next season. Once again a midfield with zero pace is shaping up and a non existent forward line, where it appears rochdale are more attractive than us. What a bloody mess.

Grey, Mancini, mani D Cleary all likely not around next year

A midfield so far where we pick from Hunter,Feather, Miley Sheron and Walker

I know signings still to come etc but we were shite last year and are so much worse currently this year…

How utterly depressing if this is true- giving our two best players to Rochdale and not getting a single penny in return- which other club would let that happen - really hope this is not the case, though suspect it's just matter of time.

This is Pools for you. It won't change until the ownership changes. All the signs are that its unlikely.

you cannot beat the system caused by bosman years ago. this is happening all over the country. the only thing you possibly can blame the club for is not making it look more favourable for players to stay put without breaking the bank to bribe em to stay giving them everything they want.

Of course you can. You negotiate early. We've been historically crap at it. Its far less of a gamble than recruiting new players.

Negotiate early? Mani was offered a new contract in January, and was supposedly a very decent offer. Mani has chosen to see what else is on offer.

Supposedly decent    Trouble is we've learnt the lesson late after losing players previously. It also doesn't help that players have encountered first hand that we are a mess of a laughing stock and will not take a lot more work to not have their heads turned.

Let's not forget that Mani came to us for more money, if someone is offering more than we can he'll likely go to them. That's football regardless of what's going on wrt who owns the club.

In the long run its cheaper n more effective to keep your better players to build a team around.

We never learn and that's why we are were we are today.

The dream of any future success under this regime is dead.

And you force them to sign a new contract at gunpoint do you? If players want to leave, even mid-contract they tend to get their way.

They leave because the club has zero ambition.

The amount of players who move sideways same division is evident to see.
Amd most leave with glowing adulation to our fans with a heavy heart.
They more or less forced out to save their careers.

The players n fans ain't the Problem here.

Yep it wouldn't occur to the current regime that if you don't make the club a circus, show some ambition and get on top of renewing contracts, paying players what they're worth, you would stand a chance of retaining players so they don't leave for nowt.

Fuck me. It's going to be depressing and confusing watching Mani and Mancini having a field day against our slow midfield and far from convincing defence (so far) when Rochdale come to town.

I've got no problem with Joe going to Donnie as he needed a move and it's a move in the right direction.
