Our council are simply kidding themselves stupid by holding onto the ground, it increases their assett value on paper and therefore makes the books look all nice and smiley.
If Pools moved into a new ground because of this the council would be left with a lump of ground worth relatively pish all, as planning states it must be used for sports for the next x yrs, even if planning changed the development on this site would be fairly limited due to its location.

Let IOR have the ground and put the money into collecting bins every week, or sorting out the crappy traffic light systems that the town has in place over the marina and town centre, or spending some cash on the disused buildings in the town so it doesn't look like a sheeyat tip. (I feel better after that)
