As usual, it appears you can chip into the kitty but there's nothing for you ...it's just like being in Cleveland County again......

Salty · **Posted:** Tue Nov 14, 2006 2:02 pm

I'd love a direct connection from old Salty to Pools

the main reason I hardly go on the train tho is that there is hardly evr a train outta Town, they all get delayed for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages and sometimes not even one back to Boro

Salty · **Posted:** Tue Nov 14, 2006 2:14 pm

OK it works very locally, and in small doses, but on the larger scale it is bollox.

Dont get me started on trains.

As trains only work if you go in straight lines. Edinburgh to London etc etc.

Trying to get people to stop using cars is a stupid idea, made by stupid people.

Almost as stupid as the vast array of rubbish bins most people have to suffer now.

Another stupid idea made up by stupid people.

Dont you all agree?

Bring it on. stupid stupid stupid stupid

Funny how it works on the continent OK.......

It works perfectly when it's properly integrated.

For example: Get the plane to Charles de Gaulle airport, go into the integrated train station and get a train to say Gare de Nord. From there go to the integrated (and sparklingly clean and light) bus station and get a bus from there to the stop near your home.

Damn right it works and there is plenty of security about too.

cock on there

we get services cut if they arent raking it in
but now the pensioners are free they are using the buses more and more which has the knock on effect that the paying punters arent happy as they cant get a seat even though they are paying.
we should also adopt the system they use abroad and have a flat fare no matter how far you go in the town.
AND have bus stops that only buses are allowed to stop at unlike every bus stop in the town cos people in cars are too lazy and wont use car parks and walk to the place they want to be.
good examples are the ramp, carlton street, paddies, wynyard road, king oswy shops, middlegate, st aidans walter wilsons basically any bus stop near a shop and yet we pay a bloody load of dilutey traffic wardens who are useless and dont get me started about "disabled badge holders" whose great aunt fanny cant walk so they get a badge and every bugger BUT aunt fanny park where the hell they want even though everywhere has disabled parking spaces.
there are even some bus drivers who use their relatives badges to park free all day whilst at work it annoys the shit out of me rage

but nobody does make any money out of public transport.take the railways the 3 biggest franchisees are goosed;
Virgin applied to have its franchise reduced and broken up,this will happen in 2007 because they are all but bankrupt.
GNER ,parent company is in the early stages of bankruptcy and the train company has already said it will not be able to meet its payment targets.
First group makes money from the USA mainly from school buses but over here it is just about breaking even.
all this in spite of the fact that more people use the train than ever before.

heres a bit from the highway code
198: Buses, coaches and trams. Give priority to these vehicles when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. Look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road.

this means instead of speeding up to get past the bus let the bugger out and then we all get where we are going quicker

banghead

a bit more for you
217: DO NOT park your vehicle or trailer on the road where it would endanger, inconvenience or obstruct pedestrians or other road users. For example, do not stop

* near a school entrance
* anywhere you would prevent access for Emergency Services
* at or near a bus stop or taxi rank

Ah...........thats if there is a stop near to your home. Like at the end of my fookin drive. And does the bus driver carry the bags the half a mile to the passengers door?

Do they fook. And why should they?

Public transport is shiit.

Just because it obviously helps the environment is no excuse for saying public transport is anything other than shiit.

Its shiit. Its always been shiit, and always will be.

And until they invent public transport, that transports me to exactly where I want to go, and allows me to sit next to who I want, or remove the smelly tw@t with the BO, it will always be shiit.

It may be necessary shiit for the future of the planet but its shiit nonetheless, so welcome to the board with your environmentally correct bollox.

Right. Next? rolfl

It wouldn't do you any harm to walk half a mile occasionally in fact the same goes for the majority of the country. Fat lazy bastids one and all.

Yes public transport is shit and it always has been but it doesn't have to be that way in the future. As Snowy says; it works very well on the continent. I use the tram system in Nottingham when I can because its quick, clean and cheap. The main reason is that its much quicker and parking in Nottingham is nigh on impossible.

As for the fat twat with the BO.... take more showers.

I never said it was right for everyone but the vast majority of this country can walk to a tram/bus/train stop. There are always extreme examples for any subject but the fact is that most people are just too idle.

You can work on the train. They even have laptop plug points in first class these days for that very reason.

How do bus drivers go on when they are faced with a taxi driver? As both own the road irrespective of signage and neither use indicators, which one wins ?

Thats the bit I never see. The fat bastids insist on sitting in the outside lane doing 0.0001 mph more than the other fat murdering bastid they are overtaking. No doubt showing each other various dismembered body parts and having a good giggle about it.

Then 150 miles down the road they pull in ignoring the 500 cars stuck behind them.
