The mere fact we are talking about Harris and Nolan not being ‘Pools fits’ due to a managerial change after 10 or so games is painful but so typically Pools.

These guys were match winners at previous clubs. The only reason we now need a complete overhaul is due to a manager change and our top earners now not fitting his style. Beggars belief.

The reality is Harris is the man. He’s a 25 goal man. So is Nolan. Why when they arrive at Pools did they go to shit. And now why have our football consultancy wasted a fortune on them to fit a philosophy that is likely to now go out the window due to Wild coming in

I cannot believe the farce they’ve made of it.

I'd be interested in your take on Pete Wild. Not just on whether him and Harris will hit it off - it already looks like they won't! More Pete Wild's style of play - strengths and weaknesses from a fan's point of view over the 3 seasons he was with you.

We were defensively decent, hard to break down, not overly adventurous. But we worked our socks off.

He identified and developed Earing, Kian Spence and Kieran Green, also got the best out of Jeff King. His defensive and midfield eye for talent was good. He's also struck me as only being able to manage smaller clubs. Look at his interviews at Tranmere they weren't great. At Barrow and Halifax, he loved the underdog tag. Whether he can handle the expectations of a fanbase such as yourselves is questionable.

If you had signed him as manager instead of Clarke and let "HIM" sign the players he wanted, then I think you will have done alright. Coming in midseason, and probably being able to sign a limited amount of players. I'm not so sure about.

On Wild and Harris. I could easily see a personality clash. Harris needs to be told he's the man. That's just how he came across to me. If he felt like the man, it gave him the confidence to do what he did goal scoring wise for us. Wild wants workers, and run through brick wall type players. Not entirely sure Harris and Nolan are those types.

Cheers. That sounds like a fair assessment.

I can see exactly where you're coming from. The best we can hope from this wreck of a season is that by the end of it Pools are hard to beat and manage wins in a respectable proportion of low scoring games. Which is kind of where we left the last one...

It’s disappointing as Harris/Nolan signings were a large part of why we sold so many tickets in the opening couple home games. They are proper signings. I hope Wild hasn’t given up on these two and is just playing mind games to get them back on form.

If you have signed these guys on big money to fit a philosophy, you can’t now tell me that Beech/Bromby/landon are throwing all of that out the window for Peter Wild. If that is the case, it makes a further mockery of the summer and football department overhaul that took place under Brombys guidance.

You would have thought they’d hire a manager who actually wanted to play their star men. I rate Pete Wild, but I don’t rate throwing out two extremely capable players after not even half a season. Very interested to see what the starting 11 is vs Hornchurch.

Harris has scored 25 goals in a season once, the rest of the time he bumped around the NLN,not particularly doing much.
He does look decent here, but needs to put his dummy back in so the manager can’t drop him.

Trouble is we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes and it’s never as straightforward as it seems …neither players have really stood out from the outset of the season that suggests Harris’s previous season was the only stand out season and not a regular high scorer?

And yet Halifax wanted to keep him and there were plenty of other clubs wanted him?
Mani D wasn't exactly prolific until he came to us and we played to a style that suited him.

Of course they wanted him because they thought they’d found a winner, but appear to have not suffered from his departure so he benefited from the team around him…as his successor has.
Watching him play after his two goal start he seemed uninterested…and oddly enough no one else was really chasing him.
I’d love him to come good, but his body language is not very inspiring so far..

As I've said previously, imo his demeanour has changed since the arrival of Wild and him funding himself on the bench. His effort and work rate couldn't be faulted under Clark. If you sign a player who's best attribute is his finishing then you've got to play a style that creates chances for him.
No matter the number of chances we create, I'd back Harris to put more if them away than Hughill, Popov, Bondo, Nolan or anyone else. Hopefully Wild can find a way to get him firing otherwise we might as well see if we can offload him. We've been here before with Mani D who ended up benched at times, moved to Rochdale and immediately found his shooting boots again.

thankyou. at least there is someone else who has studied the lad apart from just one season. its football and not some exact science where things are bound to go one way or the other.

Also a shout out to Tayt Trusty, who has been excellent for us as well recently. I've seen mentioned that he was one of the worst players ever to play for Hartlepool.

I do hope you turn it around though. Wild did a good job for us, and Earing of not injured is a good signing for you. However Hunter will never be creative enough to be a starting midfield for a team that had aspirations like you did pre season. How your football consultant advisors missed that. I do not know...

Trusty wasn't awful - he was the same as a lot of academy lads who get signed on loan for a month or two - didn't get many chances and didn't show a lot when he did get a game.

trusty was just invisable, but what did we expect when the only mens football he had at 19 was a handful of games on loan to two northern premier league clubs. now he is 3 years older and looks it.
