instead of teams doing it to our managers we could do the same for their one on saturday with a win as he must be close to getting poolied. a new name for being sacked in the national league.

Think we may get our first draw of the season and a return to Featherstone style football.

Not sure but if I was a betting man I would go for a similiar game to Alty with similar outcome. Same stale wind blowing through the corridors of The Vic. Fresh air is needed.

Time will tell, this is an odd one…will they be playing better…..?

I’n not expecting anything.

Listening to Clayton and Liddle do the radio chat before the Scunny game.

Clayton says Pools need a 'definitive style of play' from a new manager, which says it all about what Lee Clark didn't provide

Couple of Freudian slips too about Clark "losing his job" and "being sacked" - likely Clarky knew what was coming after the Worthing loss and got a quick jump in before he was pushed.

Neither of them sound as if they expect to be in the caretaker role for long but a draw at least shouldn't be beyond them - Scunny are one the few clubs in the division with even less points than Pools!

Few whispers elsewhere that Pools are looking to get a new keeper in while Merrick is out - that could make a real difference if it happens before Saturday.

I noticed that Freudian slip about being sacked too- it does suggest that maybe Clark had been told beforehand - lose and you're toast!
Joint Managers are quite rare- the one that springs to mind was our very own Tubby Turner at Orient.

For all we know Pools could be filming a docu- soap for the yanks!
Gary Liddle will be Chris Turner and Adam Clayton will play John Sitton in a reenactment of the Orient Documentary from the mid 90s.

Wonder which player will be sacked at half time, and who gets invited to 'bring their dinner with them! '

This is the issue. We dont know to what extent Liddle and Clayton were on board with Clark's tactics and team selection. If they were on board, we cant expect any dramatic change on Saturday so the usual, miss loads of chances and then give away a soft goal or two. The other possibility is that they knew all along what was going wrong so will make the necessary changes to bring about a win or a draw. Of course if they knew what was going wrong why didnt they tell Clark? Unless they did but Clark ignored them. Obviously we will never know. Footbal eh? Or Pools eh?

Scunthorpe 1 Pools the usual 0, can't see anything changing till we "hopefully" bring somebody new in.

They’re even worse than us, but that gives me no confidence in the outcome now.
I now go into the games expecting the worst.
There’s an air of lethargy in a disjointed team with no game plan and nothing on the horizon.

worst scene would see pools turning on the style to win easily after the dross we have witnessed recently. that for me is a case of taking the piss out of the fans and especially those who travelled miles away from home.

3-1 Scunny who are at home and will want it more than the weakened side that Pools will be turning out. The strikers will hopefully nick a goal - or maybe even two - but the midfield, defence and keeper are all lacking for one reason or another. No blame to be attached to Clayton, Lidds or Landon Smith. Every finger to be pointed at Maxwell, Bromby & Partners, Rust, Pearson and any other lingering parasites from Raj Singh's reign at Pools. Hopefully, off pitch remedial action is happening apace whilst the handicapped first team lurches from defeat to defeat - and quite possibly slumps into the NL relegation zone tomorrow.

Clayton and Lidds were/are responsible for the coaching side of things and have to take some responsibility for where we are in the league.
Lets see if their tactics work tomorrow if they were constrained by what Clark wanted previously.

But yes everything else I agree with, get rid!

Any parasites at the club are purely at the behest of LS, Raj surely can't be blamed for who's at the club and who's not when LS reportedly bought 100% control of the club.

The club needs a football exorcist to rid us of the Klingons we seem to suffer from…..drain the swamp and get back to basics and club management with a minimalist flavour instead of chuntering talking heads who’ve proved I0 heads really aren’t better than one.

From next season no more blame or excuses.
100 % on to Smithy which direction we go.

And ya cant rule out trying to get to div 5 from 6.

No matter what transpires over the next weeks or months, regardless of short term results the focus must remain on securing a play-off spot. Failure to do so will INEVITABLY lead to involvement in a relegation battle.

How could Landon have possibly identified the timewasters and parasites unless someone within the club had been prepared to call those individuals out at the time of the takeover?

Surely the "thorough review and re-organisation" carried out by B&P would have identified such parasites and got rid of them? Remind me who appointed B&P?
Raj has gone - if you're still trying to hold him responsible for this season's results are you going to give him credit for signing Harris or Merrick?
I'd say the main problem we have is not at Board level but in coaching and management, the same as previous seasons when we've had an under-achieving squad imo.

Very true Kev….their recruiting p on the coaching side was all very Royston Vasey with a definite ‘local’ appeal, why…I have no idea, unless it was some ham fisted belief that recruiting north eastern people appeals to the fans….it doesn’t..we just want capable coaches……this shopping local idea is long past it’s sell by date….and actually patronising.
Another symptom of their being out of touch with reality

I think the "shop local" ideal was based around cheaper overall packages for players and managers with no relocation fees or accomodation fees to shell out. There was also the idea that players close to home and family may be happier and more settled. The trouble was we attracted far too many who decided that they wanted the cosy close to home lifestyle but either not having the skills or being unprepared to earn it and basically robbing a living out of the club.
Look at how many younger loanees from the big 3 we've had and how many actually gave us any value, we've had better from further afield. We must be regarded as a bit of a soft touch in how much sentimentality is included when negotiating contracts.

Spot on.
The amount of has beens coming back to the North East for a final payday needs to stop.

Even Liddle getting back on the payroll has proved a bad move.

Full recruitment procedure needs root n branching.

or the players signed by the manager and the coaching. he just provides the money really even though some would like him to be more involved.

agree also, but there are a number of fans who cannot see beyond the north east in recruitment of anybody and have pools like a script from the league of gentleman as a local club for local people.

If only they realised that the fans of the so called ‘big three’ couldn’t give a toss about us and are generally patronising…….. we don’t need it, it’s a myth and we have to make our own way in life.

Over the years our loanies from the big 3 have been shite.
It normally confirms there careers end early.

And the decent ones from afar mostly get injured.

Dan Kemp the better one in recent times and even that resulted in another relegation to div 5.

Are we just cursed

If I were in the Scunthorpe camp, playing Pools today would be the best thing possible. They are having a hard time but opponents who have lost six out of seven whilst not playing the top teams are a real gift. They will give everything to collect three points!

2-1 win for the home team

I was thinking the opposite, that it might be a good opportunity for pools as their manager is under a bit of pressure. However, i saw the video pools posted of the players arriving today and the body language is not good. They look so hacked off.

Would it be a problem if Pools got hammered today, it might bring the owner to his senses and realise he has made some wrong decisions by bringing Bromby in and allowing Rust if it’s true back at Pools ?

TBH This hacks me off.

They’re being paid to represent Hartlepool United and play to the best of their ability despite whatever’s going on in the background.

An inept can’t be bothered performance is unacceptable.

Scunny starting 2 new loan signings while Pools have an injury crisis but it seems aren't allowed to sign anybody. Feels like the arse end of last season all over again

Should be two up already. A good counter attack found Harris with a good opportunity on the edge of the box but put it wide when he should have scored. Then a brilliant chance fell to Ecclestone but a tame shot was cleared.

Harris has just made it 1-0 with a well taken chance, controlled with his chest and slotted past the keeper.

Only Pools could do that.
From Shudda been 3 0 up to 2 1 down.

Absolutely unreal.

Now at the lowest league position in our history.
