His situation was untenable.
I take no pleasure in him falling as I really wanted him to succeed but we couldn’t go on with him at the helm or NLN beckoned

I suppose fair play to him for knowing when the time was up rather than blundering along waiting to be sacked

I wanted him to succeed but he was nothing short of clueless, I'd read a comment by a Blackpool fan on YouTube before the game who said when he was in charge of them his record was atrocious, his tactics bizarre and he couldn't understand how any club were daft enough to employ him after his stint at Blyth Spartans. Say's a lot for B&P.

The search now begins will it be an internal appointment so as the club said we will have the same continuity and stability I hope not otherwise we could be served up same dross

Good news, albeit belated with so many points being thrown away cheaply, none more so than today. However Clark is only part of the problem - the shysters at Bromby and Co and whoever else was involved in pre-season recruitment also have a lot to answer for. You could easily take 5 or 6 players out if the squad and they wouldnt be missed. Let's hope that a decent manager is appointed ASAP, given license to ship out some of the deadwood and recruit a few decent signings who can actually make a difference rather than pass, pass, pass until they lose possession.

I was hoping we were getting the Lee Clark who had a near 50% win ratio over 3 or 4 seasons at Huddersfield not the version we got.
I think we've actually got a reasonable squad and one that's capable of reaching the play offs. We saw today Penman looked decent, as did Thornton and why haven't we seen more of them? A midfield of Miley, Thornton, and Deeming would be be well worth a try.

We still have a massive problem in trying to attract a manager when you consider Fev was binned even though he had around a 40% win record. I didn't want him to get the job full time I admit. And the replacement lasted about a month. Who would want to come here as manager?

The ones who appointed Clark need to go as well!

Miley was very poor today. His dead ball delivery was shocking - as it has been in many games - and he went right into his shell after we went behind and a few passes didn't come off. He's capable of better, but not showing it at the minute.

Slightly embarrassed to say it but I was pleased we got stuffed today as it hopefully was the final nail in the coffin of Lee Clark.

Yes I'll admit to it. It didn't sit easy with me but I convinced meself it was for the best. We can recover from this. Whether we will or not I don't know but at least we have revived hope and we've still got time to achieve something.

Well at least he deserves credit for walking rather than waiting to be sacked and joining a long list of ex managers who got a pay off.

Yeah, walking out I was saying to my mate I'll take that defeat if it means Clark gets the sack. It was starting to remind me of Martin Scotts time here, where everyone could see it wasnt working but kept getting the odd win to keep him in the job. We ended up relegated, that's where we were heading with Clark.

I suppose we'll never know the series of events leading up to his departure. They could have agreed to a resigning situation to keep a sacking off his CV and he may have received compensation who knows. It all depends on the terms of his contract and if he had an exit package.
The Yanks are keen on exit packages.
I wish him well in whatever he does next, it just didn't work out for him with us.
We'll see if there is any significant change in the attitude of the players.
As is said time and time again......it's a results business.

Who’s the defensive player of that 3 man midfield?

3 CBs and 2 wing backs and a keeper gives us 6 defenders on the pitch. Midfielders should be winning the ball and creating things for the forwards. Let the defenders do the defending.
All 3 of those named above showed today they can tackle and are mobile. Miley made loads of mistakes today but he was all over the pitch.
What does Sheron bring to the team, he can't run, fouls more than he fairly wins the ball, has an aversion to having the ball at his feet, and his passing is abysmal?

An obsession with defensive midfielders has got us where we are, I want 3 offensive midfielders in the team as we might look vaguely watchable and agree with the previous poster, if your midfielders sit too deep the opponents are further up the pitch, we need to change that.

Good point. If you look at our successful teams in the ior years, I'm struggling to think of defensive midfielders. Strachan and Tinkler are nearest to that, but I never regarded them as defensive midfielders.

The last time we got promoted we had Featherstone as our anchor in the midfield. Not necessarily a bruiser, but someone you know is not going to be in the opposition penalty area while they’re counter attacking. You can’t just have 2 number 10s and Miley, who with the wind today I’m surprised wasn’t blown away.

We all want to have exciting forward thinking players who can score goals but you still need midfielders who can do their bit defensively. Not every defensive midfielder has to be useless in possession like a Sheron.

Also Miley is absolutely terrible, and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. He’s supposed to be our ball player and (as usual) gave it away time and time again. Needs to be pulled off set pieces as well I don’t think he’s ever hit a single good corner.

To be fair, Miley was excellent on Wednesday, but was not anywhere near as good today. He does seem to over hit about 80% of corners straight over the top of everyone and out of play.

It seemed we had five defensive midfielders as the basis of our team, in fact they were so defensive, that crossing the halfway line was somewhere they never ventured as it disorientated them…..even our full backs were more ‘adventurous’…

I think all the players look a bit lost…I ‘d review their performances under a new manager, but only after a complete clear out, because Clark going is only the first stage of getting the ship back on course..
Let’s not kid ourselves this should only be the start of change..

whoever does come in it has got to be somebody who can get a rune out of players who have done better than they are doing now at pools and other clubs. lets start with cam john who looks a shite version of the one we had on loan plus the new players who might have had mixed careers but have had good seasons. cannot think of a single player who has improved this season. we need to forget the pundits jargon and tactics and starting to get 100% out of the players. a good number of them need a good service and repair which for me started at halifax. will be intereting also if there is a sudden recovery of some who are injured.
