Spennymoor 1-2 Pools, Nolan with both goals for Pools, including a pen.

Beat them 2-1 after trailing 1-0 at half time. Hugill and Harris firing blanks in the first half, Nolan, Popov and Bondo among 10 changes after 60 minutes and made the difference - Nolan scored twice (one penalty).

Plenty of competition for places up front!

Enjoyed the game pools look to have strength in depth.
Played on the front foot very quick and pressed really well.
So overall a good workout and the squad looks good for the coming season.

We played well for the vast majority of the game. First 20 minutes or so we were totally in charge and should have been three up but didn’t take our chances. Benn and Ecclestone paired up well on the right and the latter got to the byline on several occasions but couldn’t find a Pools player in the box. We also hit the post in that spell.

I’d say it was an encouraging work out, we were much the better side both before the 60 minute mark and after. Bondo hit a shot high and wide early on after he came on but after that looked promising, strong on the ball and with good footwork and won a penalty for Nolan to get his second.

Dolan brought himself on in the second half and hit the bar from a free kick but they didn’t trouble our defence much apart from that.

No problem. Our central defensive pairing for the last half hour were Keogoun and Penman but the two full backs I didn’t know, presumably triallists?

It’ll be interesting to see how we do against league two opposition in the last two friendlies…

Right-Back was Campbell Darcy
Left-Back was a triallist (Kyle McAdam, 21-year old, Ex Forest Youth, played for Mansfield and Northampton in League One last year)

he certainly seems upbeat and positive about things. guess its easy when the team performs and it wins. the big test will be when we do lose and how it affects the next game. winning and losing are both habit forming.

I think he comes across well and isn't full of the usual managerial cliches.
It seems likely that we're going to be watching faster more attacking football than we've been used to for the last couple of seasons. Can't wait for the season to start.
