They may be crazy Snowy, but if you worked abroad in China and your son was born there to your I assume English wife, what would he be? Chinese or English?
And who should he play for if he was good enough for the national side? I am sure you would want him to play for England?
The reason surely being that he is English through and through.
Same if he was born in Nigeria, Germany, France, Norway etc. He is English and should represent England.
Would you agree?

wonder if other countries do exactly the same and use any law in the book to allow people to become internationals. its wrong when anyone foes it and robs a proper born and bred in that country individual the chance. its all about the money at the end of the day.

Players can play for a nation's u18 side u21 etc and still be eligible for the senior side for another nation!

They can even play friendlies for the senior national team before switching allegiance. Declan Rice played 3 times in friendlies for the senior Ireland team in 2018 before switching to England.

What about club football where in the Premier League most teams have very few British players or even British Managers but fans still follow them, does that mean if the England team is not born and bred English players we shouldn’t follow them ?

I've more or less stopped bothering with the premiership, too much money has spoilt the game and yes far too many foreigners.
At one time, you could relate to the players, not any more!

As for you Jamie, residing in another country, where do your loyalties lie?
Thailand or England? And do you watch local football where you live?

The last live game of football I watched was Pools in the play offs, number one loyalty is Pools, I lost interest in international football years ago as with the Premier League. It amazes me all of a sudden we have 1000s of England fans but won’t turn up and support local football.
Thais play football but not very good playing it albeit they tend to support Man U etc, games here are night matches, I have never ventured to one. Dutch lad I know plays 6 aside for a local team competitions up of foreigners, he says the Thais are very ‘competitive’ hare getting beat, there are usually a few red and yellow cards in the games. The prize money for winners is decent.

My partners son was going to footy after school, a teacher was running it, 2 + hours every night, he got bored in the end as all the teacher was doing was trying to be a modern day coach and shouting at the kids boys and a sprinkling of girls no actual footy game. He was only 10 at the time. 25 + kids, none of them stood out, no ball control, football ability etc. TBH I think some parents used it as a baby sitting service as there were only 1 or 2 watching.

If FIFA has its way, we may see Thailand in the World Cup in 2030 if the competition is expanded to 64 teams!!!

what always annoys me and a big reason i never watch international football is possibly a knee jerk reaction to those who finf the game every two years. some do not even watch it on television never mind even going to see a live game. worst is they become experts of the game by repeating what the pundits say to bore the arse off us who go as much as we can or watch pools on tele. if england do win the cup then so be it but for one second i doubt my life will improve if that happens but the politicians will milk it especially handy andy.

In the regional competition, Thailand is the most successful football team in Southeast Asia, football is the most popular sport followed by Muay Thai boxing.

Only 38.5% of the England team were white in the 2026 World Cup squad.

According to the latest figures 2021 census, White British is 74.4% of the population, in 2011 it was 80.5%, in 2001, 87.5% and in 1991, 93%.

If the England team had 75% of the team white, which would match the census figures, a lot of comments would be made that there are not enough black people representing the side and people would not be happy with them being too many whites and they would get the support!

Yet you cannot complain about them being too many blacks in the team without being derided!

I was born in a country, England, where there must have been 99.9% of the country white.
I did not ask for diversity, nor do I welcome it in my country. That is my thoughts and I will always stick to them!

With the current flow of immigrants into the country, within a few decades, the white man will be the minority in his own country!
And even sooner than that, most if not all European football teams will be getting on for 90% plus black!

If you think that is fine, then that is your opinion and things will get better for you!

If however you are not happy with how the England you were born in has become, then prepare for a backlash of hatred against you!
