The problem with rejoining the EU is quite basic, we voted out! No government has a mandate to take us back in and we shouldn't rejoin the political in any circumstances - like it or not adopting the Euro is mandatory, committing forces to an EU Army will be mandatory, open borders (even Germany has now realised the folly of that),
We could rejoin the Customs Union for a lot lower contributions and control.

Did we ever truly embrace the EU when we were in it either, we didn't adopt the Euro, so what must the other countries who did think, it's like sticking your toe in but not the whole foot.

It's a strange one, we were probably one of the few countries that followed EU law to the letter whilst France and Germany loosely applied the laws that suited themselves. Part of the reason why so much heavy industry in the UK was allowed to die whilst the same industries in Germany survive, the French allow port blockades in contravention of EU law too.
The political union was a folly which was doomed to fail, they can agree on small details but have no concerted views on say Ukraine with countries working in isolation for their own best interests.
We certainly made a better fist of being in than we did of getting out though.

Being a member of any club like this takes the pressure of useless politicians because they can say ‘we’d like to blah blah blah, but our membership means we have abide by the rules of the club.
Alliances are ok, but club membership is for sheep.

All non EU countries including the U.K. will have to follow this procedure, there will be a few upset Brits when travelling and being delayed, how many of them voted for Brexit I wonder, of course they say it’s the EU revenge but it just doesn’t apply to the U.K. ?

Jamie, Jamie, Jamie…it’s a well known fact that the Brits always play by the rules, the rest just don’t give a toss….they say the right things but put their people first.
We are a bit gormless in that respect.

How did I know you would be the first to respond Snowy, it’s a Jamie post that’s why, anyway no idea what you are on about Snowy plus why are replying when you never leave the shores of the U.K. and it won’t affect you ?

Difference is I don’t talk about it like a badge honour….they say travel broadens the mind, but you prove that well known saying is just cobblers.

So if you've never left these shores you shouldn't comment on anything overseas? What a load of shite from the guy who doesn't live in the UK but has more to say about the UK than most, shouldn't the same rule apply - if you don't live in the UK you shouldn't comment about the UK (overseas to you)?

thats one of the reason many voted for brexit. an eu rule comes into force and we follow it to the letter. the rest treat it like an advisory notice.

Exactly, EU countries were not supposed to subsidise their industries, steelmaking, shipbuilding etc, although they did. what did the U.K. do withdrew all subsidies and the industrial collapsed.

"We pay your wages,and we tip better than the Germans"....They'll get the full blast from me if they hold me up at any of their airports!!!!
