Charman out for the rest of the season, McNally out for a month!

we,ll miss em both especially mcnally tonight. just cannot see parkes being available for every game till he comes back. lets see if feathers in good to his word and brings in a charman replacement.

Looks like that kid from Hull can play anywhere so maybe that's sorted.

that type of thinking is from the pools past. an upgrade of charman coming in adds to the squad and an extra option. relying on a 17 year old to fill the gaps no matter how decent he looked is not the way forward.

As Oliver is now fit again it's a central defender I would be looking to sign as cover.

suppose you are right. a lot depends on actually how long mcnally will be out and if Parkes can play 2 games a week. He looked to be struggling a bit last night after a fall even if he hardly put a foot wrong in the game. think we have others further up the pitch where we can cover absentees but more players to pick from the better.

Tom Parkes never lets Pools down but he's at the point where his body is letting him down.

There was a point in the second half last night when he was sat on the deck looking like he needed to go off. That would have been Carlisle's chance to get right back in the game. He won't last long playing 2 games a week and that's just a fact.

I suppose if Okike is good enough to play at full back it frees up Cam John or Jay Benn to maybe move inside, just feel if Parkes or heaven forbid Kouogun got injured we would be exposed.

yes, we have to remember a few months back when kouogun was our only fit recognised central defender and the defeats we suffer including cup exits. OK john can play there but would weaken the left hand side seeing he and sinclair seem to have some understanding. the new kid might be ok but its a big ask if we are serious of getting into the play offs. surely a loanee or an unattached cb would not bankrupt the club for 3 months contract.

You'd like to think that the people who are advising Landon Smith can see this too. If they are serious about Pools going on the kind of run that would get us into the play-off positions there are a few weaknesses that need to be addressed.

Cover at centre-back is top of the list - even a decent 1 month loan deal till McNally is back would do.

Also, it worries me that there's no competition for the keeper's jersey. Hayes spilled a soft one right on the goal line on Wednesday night when it was still 11 v 11. Smith would crap himself if he had to play another NL game.
Dave Challinor had Killip and Ravas on the books but he brought Brad James in at the death to get us over the line. Pools need to be that ruthless again.

is harvey cartwright still injured back at hull or has gone out somewhere else. i,d love to see him back and think he,d take over from hayes if his form was the same as when he left.

well it did sound LS is saying he,ll be doing his part for this play off push so in reality we should be seeing a couple in before they shut the door on new signings.
