Morecambe have been suspended from the National League with immediate effect and will not play in the division at the start of the new season.
The Lancashire club were given a deadline of midday on Monday by the league surrounding their compliance with its rules and were warned they would face "possible further sanctions".
The league's Club Compliance and Licensing committee met again on Monday to discuss the club's response and has now suspended Morecambe until it meets again 20 August.

That's one way of looking at it. Another is that it's a lot easier to say you've got the money for a takeover than to prove it. Looks as if both Morecambe's potential buyers are vanishing into thin air.

According to The Non-League Paper:

"As things currently stand, the Shrimps’ first three fixtures – against Boston United, Brackley Town, and Scunthorpe United – are suspended, with the National League set to review the situation should a last-minute takeover materialise.

Earlier today, Wright & Lord Solicitors [for the club] announced that, despite continued efforts, they have been unable to establish meaningful communication with the Panjab Warriors.

Without their commitment or evidence to support the purchase, the solicitors confirmed they cannot proceed with any court application at this time.

They also emphasised that no alternative buyer, including the consortium led by Mr. Cato, has come forward with credible evidence.

While ongoing discussions continue with the EFL and National League, Wright & Lord warned that entering administration would not protect Morecambe FC under current league rules."

Don,t know if you know but PW already put way too much money into the club, In other words been ripped off.

I know that's what they claimed - it was in the Morecambe On The Brink thread a month ago.

But if that any of that was true and they'd already handed over millions, the club's solicitors wouldn't be trying to contact them, they'd be pushing through the takeover as fast as possible.

Might be a twist or two yet, but it looks really bad for the Morecambe fans right now.

if they cannot continue in the nl after the next meeting where does it leave the club. bust and have to reform if possible for the 26/7 season right down the bottom like bury had to. cannot see a big media interest in them like with bury and can easily see a reformed club getting really low 3 figure gates in the nw counties league especially if they cannot keep there present ground. we think we have our problems.

It looks as if the NL have only given Morecambe till 20th August to avoid looking like the bad guys when another club goes under.

Morecambe have had no pre-season games and only have 10 players registered. If by some miracle thay were allowed to start fulfilling their backlong of fixtures on 20th August, their games would be complete walkovers for at least a month - how is that fair on all the other 23 teams in the division?

One of the alleged bidders to take over the club looks to be a figment of the current owner's imagination and the other - Panjab Warriors - can't be contacted by anybody.
