The Poolie Bunker

How the worm turns. After slaughtering Trump saying he is reckless and a danger to the whole World. Is now saying" I consider my remarks about Donald Trump as ill judged and wrong. I think he has won fresh respect he certainly has from me " Surely now you Trump haters must be thinking the same thing A New World Order is happening right in front of our eyes but this time its and not being lead by maniacs who hate us all. changes are coming all around the World and for the good of all. Only made possible by Trump being back in power. Interesting times ahead the egg shell is finally cracked and will soon hatch out take my word.

That's diplomacy for you. You get nowhere by deliberately pissing off the Donald!

I’d rather have someone who stuck by their guns than an oily snake with a hundred faces.

I wonder if all them Labour not nice people in power now regret taking the piss out of Big Don before they got in power....

I dont blame him one bit for introducing Tariffs on us.

Well done Trumpy lad......

Welcome to the Bunker Jules.
Compared to other countries our exports and imports to The States gap is comparatively small compared to the other ones Trump has imposed tariffs on.
In principle a good idea why import goods when you can manufacture them yourself, unfortunately no one can compete with Far East due to their poor rayed of pay.
Maybe if the U.K. had imposed tariffs on clothes years ago shops like Primark wouldn’t have existed, even M&S import their clothing from the Far East.

Well said totally agree Jules.

The EU whining like a taxiing jet engine because they have now to pay 20% tariffs, yet the US charged no taiiffs on the EU till now and the EU are still putting 39% on U S goods so the yanks are still only charging the EU half still.
The Canadians have a 35% tarikk on Florida orange juice, yet the Canadians can’t produce Oranges in their temperatures…so there is no home grown produce to protect.

There'll be a bit of sabre rattling for show now whilst deals are done then it'll all settle down again. Trump like Mandelson are creatures of habit.

Remember when JD Vance called Trump America’s Hitler, they all change like the wind.

sounds like we have somebody else with a brain coming onto the bunker. keep it up jules.

agree.

Well Trumpy seems to be upfront with his intensions.

Nissan, Honda and Toyota opened plants up in the U.K. to get round EU tariffs likewise the Chinese electric car company BYD are opening a factory in Hungary.
Is Trump hoping companies hit with tariffs will do similar in The States, even with the tariffs some imported goods will still be cheaper than American produced ones, they can’t compete with the sweat shop rates paid in Asia.

If they put big tartifs on the cheapest providers they ain’t so competitive….unless someone approves of slave labour products.

whatever they did to amazon would get my approval.

It might affect Amazon as the majority of their goods are imported although Jeff Bezos the owner of Amazon is a big mate of Trumps.

We all wear slave labour clothes and shoes etc more so trainers Snowy, have a look at the labels, Cambodia, Vietnam, China etc. where are all the electrical/electronic appliances manufactured even furniture ?
TBH you can’t blame Trump in some respects, Thailand has import tariffs of 72% that’s why Japanese,Chinese and Ford car companies have plants here.
Trump has put a 46% tariff on Vietnam where retailers Nike etc have set up shop ,there is no way The States can’t compete with $3 an hour Vietnamese factories labour receive.
The big test is the Stock Markets in the States, they have slumped today, the Dow is down 1100 points, depends how long traders will put up with that.

Mandleson is a character you could lift from "Yes Prime minister".

He might be a son of a bitch but hes our son of a bitch.

Carry on Mandy.

WHOOOOOOOOA!
He might be your ‘son of a bitch’ but I’d keep it quiet if I was you….and less of the ‘our’….

Chris Mason of the bbc said last night that the USAs tariff is now 10% for the UK but if i heard him right he said it is already 6% (4% increase).
I have tried to look it up but i cannot find 2024 tariffs.

Anyone out there can shed some light on this?

It was a phrase that Reagan used to describe Noriega the Panama dictator who did his dirty work.

Aye…I remember but it can be twisted a bit more these days…..and to be fair it didn’t end well…they say he opened an hairdressers in Brighton…Mandy & Tiffany’s has a certain ring to it
…maybe ‘ring’ could be misconstrued too

30 years on every word has a different meaning.

That’s what I said to my Aunty Eric…….

That is an off the scale draft thing for a Brit to say. I've not heard anything that silly since last time I was in the bunker.

Why, …the yanks were mugs for years letting others put tariffs on their goods yet not putting tariffs in return .
A very logical move for them to make.
If Starmer has a brain he’ll break off his flirtation with the EU and taken advantage of having the lowest tariffs.
We’ll soon find out.

Who said that's what they did? Trump?

Good post Jules, it should also be noted that those 'not nice Labour people' actually financially backed Biden's lily livered, limp wristed Democrat opponents in last years US election campaign. Coupled with Stoma clambering even further into Zelenski's backside at a time when Trump was actively trying to broker a peace deal its a wonder that the UK wasn't hit with a much higher tariff than the 10% imposed.

He has praised Hyundai for opening a new steel plant, the investment includes a new $5.8 billion Hyundai Steel plant in Louisiana that will produce over 2.7 million metric tons of steel annually, creating more than 1,400 jobs. The steel plant is expected to supply steel to auto plants in Alabama and Georgia.

So it looks like that is what he is hoping for

Should have backed him more.

Could be worse, could have a leader up Putins arse instead.

No amount of backing would have saved the Democrat wokes, their time was up especially given the airhead of a candidate they put up against Trump. So, whether we like it or not at least 8 years of Trump/Trump or Trump/Vance lay ahead - the ROW will need to knuckle under and accept it.

We will. Stand by for a shitstorm folks. Hope you've got deep pockets.

It’s only a shitstorm of the defeated…..which is basically a tantrum….I’ve got kids and grandkids ….so tantrums mean nothing to me …. like shitstorms, desperation in the wind.

The consumer you mean. Indeed.

Nothing has surprised me less than the bunker supporting Trump introducing higher taxes on his own supporters. Absolute masochists, both him and his fans!

I see there's no tariffs on Russia. Quelle surprise. Can we now regard America as an enemy? Can we loot KFCs and McDonald's? Hey, makes as much sense as smashing mosques up for no reason!!!

In all seriousness it'll never not bother me the exceptionalism the elites of this country show the US. Stuff America, regardless of who is in charge actually. They've gave diddly squat to us whilst using us for cannon fodder or land to build bases on.

According to the Office of the US Trade Representative, the US imported goods from Russia worth $3.5bn (£2.7bn) in 2024. It mainly consisted of fertilisers, nuclear fuel and some metals, according to Trading Economics and Russian media.
Why didn’t Trump put the minimum of10% on those products ?

Can’t you live with other people having differing opinions…?
Soooooo Starmer.

Teenage idealists……dontcha just love em

You obviously can't.

I have different opinions, if you can’t cope with it …tough.
Pot Kettle Black….but I’m more laid back about it and no one ruffles my feathers….touche.

Laid back?!?
Anyone who has a different opinion to you you jump on like one of your Terriers would to a rat.

I look forward to everything Donald has to say.It brightens up my day.

Anyone who supports Trump is by definition an apo!ogist for attacks on the UK. Democracy is a delicate flower but most destroy it with your eyes wide open. Some of you sympathise with the Putin approach to negotiations, criticising Zelensky who ain't perfect but he's no dictator. Watch America your decline has just been accelerated.

Maybe my version of being laid back is not your version.q
Everyone has an opinion, everyone thinks they’re right.
That’s human nature…..if everyone agreed it would be a cosy, nodding dog elitist club.
Everyone can express their opinion .
If I agreed with you you’d Pat me on the back and my ‘terriers attacks’ would have your backing.
But you certainly have a talent for attacking terrier style, so let’s not kid ourselves.
It’s me.

What i said is true though.

We are in full agreement Sussex.

Thats so funny

seemed to be fine when the eu put tariffs on non eu goods and freedom of movement was j.ust for those living in it. let an american republican president do it then all hells let loose. all the excuses in the book would have been made for harris if she had done it.

takes away the depression of listening to starmer.
