You can have two choices I will go 1st.
1/ Pete Wild it's got to be him with a great record at skint clubs.
2/ Really like Ben Clarke a very knowledgeable football man who talks a lot of football sense. I am pretty sure it was him who took Gateshead into the playoffs 4 years ago with a totally depleted squad. They got relegated to National North and won promotion straight back. Not 100% sure why is left because he did a great job and was the one who started playing out from the back before Williams became manager.

Yes Mr.Burns must go with Sarll because he is not a manager anymore but thinks he is for some strange reason. In the 1920s when he was a manager he was never that good, and nowadays he doesn’t even know he was a manager not even sure he knows his own name. banghead

not a cats in hells chance we,ll get pete as we just could not afford his wages even though we,d see positive football back at the vic. although ben clarke seems knowledgable and talks a good game do we really want to get back to passing across the back four, back to the keeper and rinse and repeat yet again. must be short memories due to sarlball as that wasn,t exactly popular with many fans including me. that would again be a knee jerk to what we are seeing now. last season was one of consolidation and we do not want to see another one this year followed by one the next while sarlls stars are still with us.

Mike Williamson has recently been axed by MK Donkeys, did a decent job at the Heed, and knows the area

Ronnie Moore - already in the building, knows the players, affinity with the fanbase- providing his eyes haven't turned into Pickled Onions!

I know you only said 2 Leggie - but my Wildcard would be 'Flash' Gordon Watson - what a player/ character with plenty of contacts. Knows the fanbase- and would demand high standards.

Jonathan Greening? Done very well at Scarborough with an over 45% win rate across over 100 games. Not based far away so no relocation, played in the premier league to appease those who think they should have a footballing career and out of contract end of the season so little compensation.
Or just anyone from an academy, will be cheap so won’t cost much to get rid of (when we do), unlike these experienced managers, and might strike gold with one.

Whoever gets it has got an easy job.
Just play the best players in their best positions.
Hey Presto!
Fly up to the table.

Don't think he'd leave them, pretty sure he's from there.

halifax yes but doubt barrow paid him NL wages which we would be paying. just because their support isn,t massive it does not mean managers are not paid well there. if he did come he,d only travel across to the NE because he was out of work and leave the club back to go into the doldrums again like challinor. big problem at the moment is there is no obvious candidates about like an up and coming hungry name doing a near miracle with a club lower down the pyramid. somebody posted anyone from gateshead. would anyone in their right mind do a sideways move league wise leaving a cushy number there for problems everything at pools brings. if they did you,d know its all about the money and money does not make a person do any job better once the newness wears off.

Completely agree KPG- never been a better time to take over the Pools job, than now. We've got all the materials- just need someone who is half sharp, and who is not in danger of disappearing up their own arsehole, to drive the bus FORWARDS!

Id love it to be Pete Wild but I'm pretty sure he's a bit of a home bird and likes to stay in the north west.

How about Neil Wood, ex Manchester Utd U23 and Salford manager or Neil Aspin, he did well Port Vale, Gateshead and Halifax. Granted he been out of the job for a while (5 years)....

I don't think someone like Elliot would refuse the Pools job. At the moment he is manager of a club without a chance of playoffs or promotion ( unless that changes quickly ). Crowds of 1,200 compared to our 4,000 / 5,000 when doing well. A run down stadium in need of demolishon and most probably a salary way way less that Pools can pay him. He would not be my first choice but it's well possible that if he was offered the job he would jump at it given his assistant is Sweeney a man who knows everything about Pools good n bad and a bloke who I believe has unfinished business at Pools.

Pretty sure Sweens will be telling Elliott all about Raj and saying don’t touch the job with a barge pole. Plus all the supporters are clever dicks obviously.

I think we need to have a change at the club and get in an actual football manager instead of appointing series of mime artists and impersonators.

If you are a genuine manager who believes in his ability it is a bloody good job at this level. Look at the rewards D.C got from being successful here, he has never looked back since  Despite Raj having a terrible name for sacking managers he never considered sacking D.C. and I do believe he will not sack any manager who is successful. If these managers had anything about them they would be confident they would be huge success here.

You've got a point. Plus they'd look at our squad and feel pretty confident they could do better.

Can't see Wild taking the job- he'd want to move the training ground to Leeds. When he was Barra manager, sure he had them training in Manchester.

Think he'd be just like DC and want to move back to the north west at the first opportunity.

Give it to Ronnie Moore, low risk all round and already on the payroll. Plus he was Manager Pre- Raj- so no loss of face from the Chief.

It's not a bad shout Kettering but Mr. Burns will not allow that to happen. See Ronnie is respected at Pools and Mr.Burns is errrrrrr a fooking clueless deluded full on dinosaur.

I wouldn't worry about Mr Burns, Leggie.
He thought he was the manager after his half time coffee during the last couple of games and ended up in the dugout. Poor old bugger doesn't know if he's batting or bowling- we just need to humour him until he shuffles off!

actually moving our training ground to the leeds area isn,t th worst suggestion anyone has ever come up with. its done barrow no harm moving training to somewhere in greater manchester due to getting better recruitment in players and managers. only problem with ronnie moore is his age and does he want the hassle that goes with football management again. know for a fact that once you get into your 70,s everything seems a bigger effort to do and its all for the easy life.

Football management is an odd game.

Williamson was given lots of support in the summer by MK after selling their star striker but they struggled and he quit to move back north and drop down the league to Carlisle. Obviously plenty of money there as well.

Then the Crawley manager, Scott Lindsey, who demolished MK in the play offs quits Crawley to go to MK to replace him. He did a remarkable job at Crawley to get them promoted on a low budget after they sold their high earners and probably had the lowest budget in the 3rd Division/ League 1.

Now Elliott is hot favourite for the Crawley job so that would scupper our chances of getting him. I doubt very much he would leave Gateshead to come here. Gateshead have had a string of managers who have all done really well. He has fellow ex Poolies in Magnay and Sweeney to help him. But Gateshead clearly have an excellent recruitment set up and succeed with most managers relative to their small support.

No one will be moving down the Leagues to us under the current set up of archaic ex managers running the show. So it will be someone like Watson moving back up the leafues or an unemplyed maanger.

Magnay went with Williamson to MK/Carlisle.

anybody who is closely connected with the first team squad in tactics or coaching needs binning as well. for once whoever did replace them all would be an improvement and you cannot go lower than rock bottom. be like hearing news that you have recovered from some serious illness even though it could come back again in the future.

just imagine all the publicity we,d get. the bbc for a start would make it their team of the season and we,d get mentioned more than any premier league club would be.

My mother is in a nursing home and I often see her or others walking the corridors like a mummy. You have to ask are you lost and 9 out 10 times they are lost. The corridors in the home are a quare and some walk around and around trying to find their room until you ask are you lost. This is what I see at Pools with Auld Lenny he must be struggling to find his way out of the ground and is so confused he will probably still be walking around in 50 years time.

How about Alun Armstrong? He did a decent job at Blyth Spartans and Darlo until the fan-owned club fanbase hounded and eventually drove him out. The only proviso would be that he brings his lad back from Carlisle as Pools player/coach/potential successor.
