He was a sunday league player and he's a sunday league manager---all his 'coaching' on defneding set pieces and set instructions to hoof balls to certain areas--Rochdale werent world beaters but they had a playing style they all new and had clearly practiced--we just turned up on the night playing a formation we'd never tried before all season or pre-season and wondered why we had the piss took out of us

I never got the KP decision. They offered him a contract and when he didn't immediately sign they take that as a snub and employ this fella. KP had done reasonably well with an inherited team. That is grim reading. The quotes from Raj’s human shields don’t stack up and now look ill-conceived at best given our current plight. So many questions:

- Why would a couple of fans be placed front and centre at the time?
- Are they qualified to make footballing decisions?
- Why on earth did they put themselves in that position - surely they could see why Raj put them there?
- And as the only person qualified to make a footballing decision, why didn’t Lawrence front up the decision to go back on Phillips’ offer? His silence in that article is deafening and actually quite cowardly.

According to that article, the decision to appoint Sarll over Phillips “was made purely to give the club the best opportunity to succeed next season.” I’m sure hindsight has bitten most of us at some point in our lives but how on earth were the board taken in my Sarll’s snake oil charms?!

On Sarll - “He presented a very clear and compelling view of how he wants to build the squad.” Does this include ruining our best players with a style of anti-football that isn’t working and driving fans away? For all the talk of squad building and not believing in the short term loan system, I’m struggling to name all of our current squad or identify the best playing position for newer recruits.

The article goes on to say that Sarll was expected to “deliver a positive style of football that statistically supports success in this league, and create a winning mentality and culture.” - there is nothing whatsoever positive about our ‘style’ of football. Ben Clarke’s brutal but insightful analysis last night put it better than I ever could as a fan. The ‘culture’ also seems to now include Sarll having a pop at anyone who questions his methods, a trait fans of other clubs have flagged up.

Let there be no mistake, Raj is yet again culpable for this latest mess but whether through ego or misplaced pride, the board have allowed themselves to be played by the chairman (and continue to do so). Fans need to sit independently of this shambles not at its centre and the time has surely come to show some bottle and demand our club back.

It's a good point about legacy issues giving some managers a partial pass. Sarll can't claim that.
