credit where its due, you have a good team, well organised and very usefull across the midfeild. your fans did you credit and the amount of possession you enjoyed really didnt deserve the 2-0 defeat you suffered.

be proud of your efforts today and dont be downt hearted, we are leeds united and not many teams will come to ER and play aswell as you did today this season.

cheers for the 3 points bbolt

Thanks fella's for the kind words, I would just like to add a few comments about my 1st trip to ER.

What a good ground ER is, not like the box standard grounds you see today.

Leeds fans seemed very sporting before and after the game and by fook they sounded loud, as did Poolies.

I have never seen a goalmouth live such a charmed life as the Leeds one in the 2nd half.

Never seen our strikers all have off days all at the same time.

I hope you enjoyed your first trip to Elland Road...Your fans and your team were a credit to you but as a nuetral friend said "two great Leeds goals and two great Leeds posts"......You can take comfort in your efforts today and probably feel the score line wasn't a fair reflexion on the game but credit to our forwards for putting the ball in the back of the net......

I hope you enjoy the rest of the season as much as we wil........The Football League created a Monster when they deducted 15 points and as such we will win many games without being the best team....Very few teams will come to Elland Road and take points from us but today your team probably did enough to expect something.....We are not a a Great footballing side but you cannot fault our effort, belief and support......

Enjoy the rest of the season Poolies and maybe we will see you again next season in the Championship.....

Bloody hell...time of the month or summat?

Message boards are littered with 'ifs whats and maybes'. If we'd have lost two nil in a game like that we'd have moaned like buggery and you'd (as in Hartlepool fans generally) have told us to deal with it. And probably added a bit about 'big club syndrome'.

No?

The title of the thread is the big clue here mate.

There is nothing gracious in your reply.

Note the lack of 'end of,' here.

I'm sorry you had to be told that.

i am saddened by the response from you and your lot to be honest Kev. their is evidence all over this board and our rivals site of our respect and appreciation for the part your fans and your team played on saturday and yet you and most of your supporters are behaving like kids with a smacked arse.

frankly its poor form and you do yourselves no favours at all, in fact its a bit embarrassing for those of you who actually manage to survice without the chip on their shoulders.

sad, very sad. sadx

No one's got a chip on their shoulders bigger than that worn by Leeds fans. I thought it was a badge you were wearing with pride. 'Everyone hates us,' we don't care. We're told at length how it's driving you on.

Snowy asked a legitimate question, he was swiftly and shortly cut off. It's there for all to see. It's got nothing to do with last Saturday, it's just bloody rude.

I think not.....and it certainly wasn't in response to a question as I started that thread.

I'll explain the point in basic English to them Kev....
Once upon a time, a team won a football match. The supporters of the winning team were 'nice' to the losers in a sort of patronising way. One person then asked if they would have been so 'nice' if they'd lost. The End.

it demonstrated clearly your attitude post match which completely contradicted that which you demonstrated pre match. banter is banter, if you didnt expect to have a little fun poked at you if and when you lost why encourage or get involved in the pre match banter in the first place?

were going round in circles, you see no wrong in your stance and refuse to recognise the good grace evident here and on rivals choosing only to interpret posts in a manner which satisfies your dissapointment at the result, understandable but entirely lacking in sensibility.

as i said, sad very sad.

if the worst we have been is 'sort of patronising' i think weve done well, but to answer your question in a non 'sort of patronising' manner if we had lost i would still have come back here and enjoyed your revelling in the glory because thats what banter is all about and if you dont believe my answer go and ask those teams we have lost to over the years (and thats most of em) on rivals and i think you will find i am true to my word!

Well, as I sat here following the evening Internationals, the messages came rolling in and alright in the post game euphoria you have to give a little, this I know. A certain generosity of spirit is required and I know all about poking fun and banter and all that stuff. When you've lost, your low point is at the whistle and then it gets easier as time goes on.

Unless people are bombarding you with 'what do you expect..' etc, etc, etc........'we are the mighty Leeds,' 'your powderpuff strikers....' and yourself mate, 'thanks for the three points...'

Well, when the world was shiteing on you lot from a great height, back there in May, there was ONE hand of friendship extended. Only one that I could see anyway, and I consider that the attitude displayed to us during last Saturday evening wasn't in the spirit of that friendship. I'm not too sensitive a soul, we don't really have them up in Hartlepool but as I said on the evening, alright you won, you don't have to piss on us as well.

quite frankly thats pathetic Kev, your sounding like a spoilt little girl who has been told she cant have her pom poms and to be totally honest i think you know that deep down too.

2800 of your fans sat at elland road and sang their way through a great performance by their team, they soaked up the atmosphere, mixed with us after the game and enjoyed everything about their day except the result. most importantly they took the stick with good grace and in the spirit it was intended, you let everyone of them down with your attitude here.

The opinion of most Pools fans on here is that we should have won the game, and that we are unlikely to come across such a mixture of snatched chances, desperate defending, lucky defending, great goalkeeping, bad bounces and sheer blind bad luck again. We were happy with the performance and looking to take it into the next game.

The general tone of response has been that it wasn't luck, it was Leeds. And we shouldn't worry our little selves because we are unlikely to run into anything as powerful as the Leeds machine again. We were swept away and daunted by the very idea of Leeds, but we are assured that we should be somewhere near the top end of the table come May (along with Leeds of course). Now I know it's bravado, self-delusion, myth maintenance, and so far this season it's worked spectacularly well. It's impressive stuff, but that doesn't stop it all as coming across as patronising. No big deal, but don't pretend that poor grace is a Pools monopoly.

and this, even if true, is not acceptable banter because..........................................?

And you speak for all of them do you? These fans that we were told most of the week weren't even welcome because those seats should go to Leeds fans, who didn't even bother turning up last season. What spirit WAS it intended in then?? What point am I missing??

Because MY point is that there shouldn't be 'stick' handed out. Again, I said OK you won, you don't have to piss on us. What you're actually trying to do is defend the pissing.

We beat our big rivals 3-0 at theirs last season, probably ended their last fading hopes of the play-offs, truth be told. Did I go on their message board and leave comments suggesting they played OK but really were never in with a chance because of the quality of the opposition?? No I didn't, lesser people did, same as they came on your board last week, where I was busily apologising for them and guiding people here so they didn't have the numpties to deal with. Come 4.55pm and what did we get on here??

I just expected better that's all. Nothing to do with pom poms, more to do with faith in human nature and common courtesy.

Now it's a case of anything that we write is wrong. We're either too aggressive or patronising.

Every post on here I've made has attempted to be either constructive, ironic, self depracating and in some cases critical, but only picking up on points raised by your own members.

It seems that my comment in this thread has been the one that's started this all off, and all I can say is that it wasn't in any way intended that way, so sorry if it came across wrong. I can't say more than that, and if it isn't enough well there's nothing more that can be done to placate people.

I take solace in the response of Pinhead, although he's probably being blackballed as I type sadx .

In answer to the question - would I have come on this board if we'd lost 2-0, or even 8-0? Of course I would! It's a message board, not the Spanish Inquisition.

I indulged in banter with Forest fans after we won, and they were very bitter on the whole, but even then, when it was so tempting to ram it up their proverbials, it was possible to talk to some of them sensibly and constructively. But that doesn't mean a small amount of pisstaking isn't allowed, surely? We'd do it face to face so why not in virtual world?

Difference is we can't end up on a handshake and I can't buy you lot a pint. But I would if I could, and I will if I can even if we get humiliated on Boxing Day.

Bridge over Troubled Waters and all that eh? sctatchinghead

Methinks Billy is riled. Give it a break fella and come back refreshed.

That said I think, judging by the mood change I'm seeing, I, certainly have outstayed my welcome. Having no wish at all to ruin anyone else's message board I think it's more or less time to go.

Well I've said all I'm going to say, I hope I've said it well enough. You asked me why and I've told you. I've no axe to grind and I'll move on if everyone else will move on. I don't think there is a point of agreement, it's just an exchange of views.

Ken, I appreciate your comments, no dissent from me at all.

Billy, I won't be taking up bridge until Hartlepool United do. If they do, we'll fookin' THRASH Leeds at it.

i am dissapointed mate, dissapointed in mesen more than owt else for thinking this place was ok.

we were invited here to join in some banter and fun, we came in peace and we stayed in peace and for the life of me i cant understand why we were invited in the first place if as you quite rightly point out in the aftermath we cant do anything right for being wrong, especially for the person who invited us here in the first place.

yorkshire bandit called it spot on on TEAB, and thats sad.

still it is time to move on so all the best poolies until we meet again and just for snowy can i add 2-0 IN YOUR CUP FINAL thrilled

Things evolve Billy. I wasn't invited by anyone, I just set up camp. Personally I don't like Rivals.

Compared to some of the crap that goes on on WACCOE this is force one on the Beaufort Scale compared to a hurricane.

It's hard to remember, sometimes, that things written in all innocence and without an ounce of malice can be perceived negatively dependant on the recipient's state of mind or mood.

Allowances need to be made, even if we think we're being OK

This has been real eye opener to me. I make a comment that nerely warranted the reply..."Aye, of course you won't get as many replies if you'd won 2-0"...that's logic and the issue is closed. What I find odd, is the actions of 'certain posters' who appear unable to give a straight answer to a straightforward question and give all the appearance of someone confused but suspicious and doing the equivalent of sticking their fingers in their ears and singing to avoid the bleedin obvious ...once they start them tricks you just have to keep em on the line as long as possible ...very odd though...is it post premiership stress disorder by any chance?

I'll explain the point in basic English to them Kev....
Once upon a time, a team won a football match. The supporters of the winning team were 'nice' to the losers in a sort of patronising way. One person then asked if they would have been so 'nice' if they'd lost. The End.

if the worst we have been is 'sort of patronising' i think weve done well, but to answer your question in a non 'sort of patronising' manner if we had lost i would still have come back here and enjoyed your revelling in the glory because thats what banter is all about and if you dont believe my answer go and ask those teams we have lost to over the years (and thats most of em) on rivals and i think you will find i am true to my word!

we've moved on now snowy, nothing to see here mate

Lets just let it lie, and talk about something else.

And you lot are most welcome to stick around.
