They are, but if they speak English and not French, and they have family or friends in the UK that they can stay with, then its much more likely that they would be able to gain employment, assimilate into society and become a net contributor.

You can’t claim asylum at a British embassy in a foreign country, you must be physically present in the UK to claim asylum.

They are not asylum seekers coming from France end of. So it's bollocks to say they have to get here to apply for asylum. Francecis a safe country and they are not in fear of their lives living there. If they want to come and work and contribute they can apply in France for a visa to enter our country.

Yes you do, but the British embassy can issue a temporary visa for safe travel for you to claim Asylum in the UK. It's not impossible to do it that way.
However, you make a better case in person stood on UK soil so yes you are correct Mctee.

In doing so they should be assessed if they are truly refugees or asylum seekers or illegal migrants, should be pretty easy to do - have you come from France, response yes. Back to Calais matey and go through the proper channels.
Asylum or refuge status should in the first instance be at the first safe country.
The country is almost bursting, we ca t look after our own so why allow any more illegals?

Explanation in here - https://researchbriefings.files.parliam ... P-9000.pdf

Section 2 is “Must people claim asylum in the first safe country they enter?”

Section 3.1 states “ People must be physically present in the UK to claim asylum. It is not possible to apply for asylum via a UK embassy, or to apply for a visa for the purpose of coming to seek asylum in the UK.”

Legal, controlled migration is acceptable.

Processing them in France is a joke.
The ‘illegals’ come by dinghy because they can’t get in through normal channels, so that won’t stop them …unless of course we have a load of sympathetic civil servants waving them through.
But the ones refused will just go along the beach to ‘Dinghy Express.’

Labour are going to process the backlog quickly they say, so expect an amnesty and everyone being allowed to stay.
Not quite what the gullible voters anticipated.

Snowy I suggest you read what McAtee put above. There aren't 'normal channels' you have to be in the UK to claim asylum, your visa will not be approved to enter the UK if you are suspected of trying to enter to claim asylum no matter the strength of your claim.
Yes some people game the system but you can't persecute everyone based on a minority.
I suggest you wait and see how Labour will process the backlog (a Tory underfunding creation) rather than suggesting they'll all be waved through.

I’ll try again….. when I refer to normal channels I’m referring to the possibility of applications in France, so that those with a genuine claim can apply for asylum.
However, the non successful applicants will still resort to the Rubber Dinghy’s.

My mistake snowy. Yes but you can then refer to a previously unsuccessful asylum application and then get rid.

No worries at all, it’s complex situation, and not helped at all by the amount of misinformation that is being pushed from different sides (including from sources that you should be able to trust, such as the previous Government).

If the backlog is cleared up, and the numbers are more manageable arriving, any illegal crossings when there is the option in France should be returned to country of origin or detained, the previous Labour government were really good at that and I’ll give them credit for it.

An asylum seeker wants to get to a safe country, everyone wanting to come to the UK should go through the proper process.
You can't get dentist or Dr appointment, NHS waiting lists are sky high, the country is so skint we're taking £5 a week of pensioners, yet we're doing nothing to stop freeloaders further burdening our services let alone the sheer cost of housing and feeding them.

It's a sad sad world we live in these days.
Did a bit of research. Canada has had something like 130,000 Indian mover there and the USA are the same with the Mexicas and Caribbean. Australia have the same problem with South East Asians.

Looking at the footage of both nights, all I saw was a chav’s street party, I doubt 90% could even spell migrant let alone have a reasoned opinion on the subject, frankly it was embarrassing to watch.
The highlight of the night was the police dog getting a grip.
If there was going to be a vigil for the kids at Southport, do it with some dignity.

Trouble in Sunderland now.
Probably Liverpool tomorrow.
Boro Sunday.
Then the football season hot weather will be used for more protests.

It didn't have to be this way.
Partly government partly thugs.

Why is there any reason to suppose they speak English and have family here? Isnt it more likely they come here knowing they will never be deported regardless of their asylum claim. Labour have announced that 90,000 of them will be given amnesty in order to clear the backlog. Great news for us all eh? We dont have ID cards so it is easy to "disappear". Besides which we have a benefit system as good as the French, our legal systemis famously lenient and we put them up in hotels. GB is the land of milk and honey. No wonder they are pouring over here.

It seems fairly obvious that when Starmer and his shills refer to "The far right", he actually means white working class people.

That would require Starmer and co to actually admit there is a problem which is causing this widespread disorder. He would much rather rant about far right thugs and push further authoritarian measures than actually face the problems caused by mass immigration and two tier policing.

It was the Tories who created the backlog with their policy of doing nothing except feeding and housing people who weren't allowed to work. Even if the Rwanda scheme had gone ahead, there was only the capacity to deport a few hundred to Rwanda under the deal. Still left with 89.600 mouths to feed + new arrivals.

Work where exactly, with no documentation to prove what they are, they’d be delivering pizzas or washing cars.
Any meaningful employment means a verifiable proof of qualification….it’s just not that straightforward.
Are successful applicants to remain allowed to bring dependents over to this country….?

Facts. “reasons such as colonial and historical links, the presence of family members, general reputation as a safe country and language are relevant factors.” - https://fullfact.org/immigration/why-do ... t-come-uk/

No they haven’t, they said they would clear the backlog, they didn’t say they were going to do it by accepting them all. Around 63% are usually accepted on average.

Not if they want benefits, they need to have a registered address.

Only while they are on the backlog, which the Govt claim is going to be reduced remember.

Fact of the day.... 526 asylum seekers in Hartlepool. That's facts, go check it out. The Africans in Hartlepool are here on work visas, to fill up the shortage in the care sector after all the Eastern Europeans went home after Brexit (remember that? Taking control of our borders?) I'd guess that the black immigrants have just replaced the white European immigrants.

Most certainly the problem has been simmering away for years although what Labour is doing is a red rag to a bull. EG the amnesty for the asylum claimers, rescinding the Tory law that said people arriving illegally would not be allowed permanant residency, early release of criminals which includes 60,000 foreign criminals but not deporting them. Sunak, Johnson et al did nothing about the the illegals but it seems Labour is encouraging them.

The Rwanda idea was to discourage potential boat travellers by facing the possibilty of getting sent to Rwanda. There was never any possibilty of shipping many thousands out there.

That's not a guess Bobby, that's absolute fact.

"Net migration was unusually high in 2023, at 685,000, driven by an increase in non-EU citizens coming to the UK. The majority of the increase in non-EU arrivals from 2019 to 2023 occurred through the work and study routes, with health and care as the main industry driving the growth in work migration.

Since 2021 EU net migration has been negative, according to official estimates. In 2023, for example, it was -76,000.

Indian nationals were by far the largest nationality coming to the UK in 2023, accounting for 21% of overall immigration, followed by Nigerian and Chinese citizens (12% and 7% respectively). In 2022, Ukrainians were also a common nationality following the introduction of humanitarian visa routes in response to the war in Ukraine. However, their share of overall arrivals declined in 2023."

Why does it take so long to process an asylum seekers claim, yes iI understand it might be a bit more complex.

and that is with a british partner and all the documentation available being shown. many of these have destroyed all documentation and dount either of you would be happy for those to be fast tracked after the hoops you both went through.

However, their share of overall arrivals declined in 2023."

mentioning chinese immigrants. funny how there never seem to be any problem regarding them. for years on end chinese have come over here and just seem to get their heads down and work without problems other immigrants have caused. remember the other load of boat people from vietnam and ugandan asians. only the real racists and the far right had a single problem with any of them.

You can't get dentist or Dr appointment, NHS waiting lists are sky high, the country is so skint we're taking £5 a week of pensioners, yet we're doing nothing to stop freeloaders further burdening our services let alone the sheer cost of housing and feeding them.

listen to the left and all these seeking asylum are dentists, NHS workers or those wanting to go into the care industry.

Why is there any reason to suppose they speak English and have family here?

Facts. “reasons such as colonial and historical links, the presence of family members, general reputation as a safe country and language are relevant factors.” - https://fullfact.org/immigration/why-do ... t-come-uk/

So the folks arriving on the beaches are only coming from countries with which Britain had colonial links? Seriously? Absolute rowlocks. They come from all points of the compass.

Labour have announced that 90,000 of them will be given amnesty in order to clear the backlog. Great news for us all eh?

No they haven’t, they said they would clear the backlog, they didn’t say they were going to do it by accepting them all. Around 63% are usually accepted on average.

a) amnesty will be granted to the 90,000: they will not be deported, they will stay in the UK at tax payers expense.
b)THe reason 63% accepted on average is that they are trying to speed up the system by being significantly less careful who they let in which is of course another pull factor

They work in the black economy to earn a living and go to A and E if they are ill.

we put them up in hotels.

Only while they are on the backlog, which the Govt claim is going to be reduced remember.

So when the backlog is cleared they will have to be council accomodation or private lanlords are bribed to take them by being given much higher rents from tax payers money. One reason why it is impossible to rent in some parts of the country

Sunak, Johnson et al did nothing about the the illegals but it seems Labour is encouraging them.

if you took that away plus the obvious two tier policing and the immigrants getting better treatment for the basics like doctors appointments, dental care and being put up in accomodation we could not afford there would not be demonstrations that turn into riots in the first place. be interesting what our lot would be if we sailed in the opposite direction to where they come from to seek asylum from the new lefties.

I live in the Murray Street area, pretty much the highest concentration of immigrants in town, just a guess but I reckon about right. I I haven't got a single problem with any immigrants around here. I have an Iraqi neighbour who is a really nice, polite lad, there's a Nigerian lady and her daughter over the road, she's right as rain, a Syrian over the road too, no problem whatsoever. I'd rather have an immigrant neighbour every day of the week, than some of the white bell ends who live round here.
There was an Iraqi family living next door to me a while back, used to talk to the dad quite regularly, a really nice bloke, they were waiting to be housed somewhere more suitable. He was telling me about how he came over here, his ten year old son was shot dead in front of him, they were trying to escape the factionalism over there. I don't begrudge anyone the chance to escape that.

Surely the official net migration figures don't take into account those arriving illegally by dinghy, truck, or other means?

I'm not a fan of Sir Keith, but I'm sure they appreciated it.

it was obvious he would do that anyway as any other PM of the past would do. part of the job whether he was bothered or not. its just like we,ll be doing sometime this season when we stand at a match for a minutes silence especially away for someone we do not know or previously cared about if we did. nobody can comfort anyone if a loved one is dead and you,ll never see or hear from them again even a fellow loved one never mind a PM just ticking a box.

I have no doubt that what you say is 100% true but the issue is the sheer numbers arriving in the country as a whole:
a) The Dover arrivals without documents so we dont know who they are or where they are from. A lot are probably ok but a proportion will not be (Liverpool Maternity hospital bomber was a failed asylum seeker for example.
b) Huge numbers of legal immigrants arriving

The cultural identity of areas of the country is being changed at an alarmingly quick pace: there is literally not the time for these people to integrate. The efferct of militant Islam is growing. Obvious two tier policing as we see with the Palestinian marches as opposed to the Downing street protest just as one example. Anyone not comfortable with this is called a far right thug. Starmer does not seem to understand why British people are seriously peed off.

The issue is Starmer not speaking about the causes of this and other recent abominations. His entire agenda is about how terrible people who dont agree with mass immigration are. Far right thugs etc. He seems to be fully in support of those who hate this country and its people.

got an asian neighbour myself who are improvements on the lesbos we previously had so we both could be lucky. hartlepool as a town has far less immigrants than many places across the country with a far bigger percentage than the national average. when the town gets its areas where its not safe to walk through, the ones called no go areas, due to immigrants then come back and tell us how immigration has enhanced your life whether your neighbours are good or not.

The ‘people’ who did that, if asked why, would just have a gormless, vacant grin on their rodent faces and be incapable of giving you a one word answer because their single brain cell would be overloaded.
Can’t we bar code them and exchange them, they’d probably thrive in the Third World.

It is 'two tier policing' because the pro-Palestinian marches have been peaceful. So was the Downing Street protest to be fair, unlike the last few nights of missile throwing, smashing windows and setting cars alight, which is rioting plain and simple.

At the top of Canada is a place called Churchill. It sits inside the massive Hudson Bay and is miles from anywhere, with no roads to it. You can only get in by plane or train.

Anyway they have a problem with polar bears. The rogue ones come into town and cause bother, raking through rubbish bins, vandalising property, scaring people etc. So what they do is this. They capture (if they can) any rogue ones. Spray a load of paint on it, then put a sling under it's tummy, then helicopter it right out into the sea where there are little islands and other bears/food. If any sprayed up bear returns for a second bite of the cherry, then something awful happens to it! I can't remember what now, but it's probably "curtains"
