Millibean appears to be going ahead with his ‘plan’ to place ‘thousands’ of wind turbines in the sea… going to the beach and looking out to sea will be like looking though prison bars…except of course for the more poncey bits of coast line that will remain untouched.

He's a fecking idiot, asked about what happens when the wind doesn't blow his reply was we'll have solar and nuclear energy to fall back on. Well my next question would've been what happens when the wind isn't blowing and it's overcast and you haven't built the nuclear power stations by 2030? The UK freezes in darkness while the rest of the world laughs at us as they continuing burning fossil fuels unrestrained.

Maybe he has heard the rumour that the Vikings are renewing their interest in building longboats again and therefore these forests of wind turbines will stop them weaving their way to plundering St Hilda's. Further rumours state that they have found an ancient parchment listing Verrill's exact opening times and wish to investigate it's validity. A bloke from Newcastle told me in confidence the mighty Norsemen intend to arrive on a Thorsday.
Keep it to yerselves but I've heard Berg Larsen is their leader and wants to finish the job he started at Pools.

They’ll be pissing them selves laughing while we have governments Tory and Labour desperate to please the eco lobby and couldn’t give a flying f£&k about the majority of the population in this country…..WHY ?
Starmer was silly enough in an interview at lunch time to guarantee energy prices would fall in this term of Parliament…never make a promise with things outside of your control…especially oil.

Location: Rocks or Colliery?
They're probably thinking of we put a long row of wind turbines halfway across the channel it will deter the illegal boat crossings?

It’s not actually Charlie who owns it …it’s his cousin Neptune who runs it for Poseidon, King of the Sea. bbolt

how about looking at the question the other way round. its not as if they do not work without wind they do not if the wind blows too strong either. like solar panels they are an ugly blight on our landscape and doubt anyone would get planning permission for something equally as ugly if it had no green credentials. its not just him its the rest of the green zealots who refuse to accept reality and the importance of a little island in the north sea against the rest of the world. modern day king canutes where its easy to make another word out of his name.

Down Seaton near Newburn bridge, if you look up towards Elwick, the fields are covered in solar panels……a bloody blight on the countryside to pacify the Smugs….paid for by the mugs

Apparently the life of a wind turbine is 15 to 20 years and like the solar panels, are not recyclable.
Genius

if its those who support them who are saying it that would be the real maximum. some i,m sure think they are zero maintainance as well and the power by some miracle comes directly into their homes from them. they cause other problems that do not get a mention.

Life has cruelly taught me nothings zero maintenance…I can vouch for maintenance on or in the sea is ok on a windless, sunny, mill pond day…you don’t get many.

That lifespan used to be the case, but with advances in retrofitting bearings and repairing blades it's possible to extend the life of them significantly - potentially for several decades. Solar panels are more of a problem, but there have been big advances in the recycling of them over the last few years (although we're well behind other countries on that front). The big issue is still the grid - particularly in managing micro-generation and the potential (heavy emphasis on the word 'potential') future demand from electric cars, heat pumps etc.

Heat pumps…..an impractical and effing expensive fad.
Their drawback that nobody seems to notic with wind turbines is they’re competing against cheaper sources of energy…so British industry products will obviously paying more for it’s power in a world market that doesn’t give a toss about climate change.

They don't keep your house warm and they don't get your water hot enough either in the winter so whats the point, you'll need an alternative heater to back it up - maybe a high efficiency gas boiler would do the trick?

It’s the wind you’ve got to worry about…you can have one nailed to your head but if there’s no Billy wind …it’s useless.

Exactly if 1 produces zero energy when the wind doesn't blow how much energy would a million produce?

just forget dates and allow the inventors to do their best to improve our lives and those of the future to get net zero at some point in the future. newer forms of heating and lighting came about that way and nobody can put a time frame on them happening.

If you had bought Rolls Royce shares in 2021 they were around 50p now 440p.

if i had bought them they would have been at 440p and now at 50p. its usually a gamble for the rich like those who purchased shares for the old Manchester,Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway that became the Great Central. classed as money spent and lost to go gone completely.
