Totally agree 100%. I have no time for cricket or rugby either but did eventually take up golf after saying for a lifetime it was another boring sport.

I hear this year it has topless volleyball with the Brazilians and Swedes being favourite.

Interested

Liked the rivalry between Coe n Ovett back in the 80s.
And Daley Thompsons big Gs.
After that the Athletics part of the Olympics seemed to fade away.

do not mind watching the running but its the hanging about between the races as it feels a long drawn out process which makes it boring. bit like dog racing and more so horse racing if you are not a betting man. just up date it a bit and have a catogary for shoplifting and knife fighting plus how many you can get in a dinghy to do a certain distance on a river or sea.

I'm off to Paris on Tuesday. Have got a few events booked including the Beach Volleyball.
Switzerland vs Paraguay,
Spain vs Germany.

As I paid.. Women's matches.

Other random events - Hockey (China vs France - lesser of 2 evils to win that). Water Polo (Cos you had to choose 1 really crap event),
Basketball and 2 visits to the Athletics stadium (nosebleed seats for the 100m Final - finished in under 10 seconds!)

Hopefully no security incidents - either terrorist or Champions League final style.

Good for you if that's how you like to spend your money. Watched a bit of the Rugby 7s online today.

So the train system has been vandalised, and who's idea was it to have an opening ceremony on the River Seine?, the safety and security cost alone must be staggering. Why have an opening ceremony at all?, what does it achieve?, shows how big the US team is compared to that of the Pitcairn Islands  ....just get on with the action.

these ceremony,s seem to get bigger and bigger as each games take place and its getting like some hollywood block buster where money means nothing and has little if nothing to do with the games itself. its just modern society having to go OTT on everything now.

it will be when the syncronised swimming gets going and the dressage. just waiting for the day sleeping becomes an olympic sport and what hype they can put on that. at least i might get a chance of going for gold in that.

How can the opening ceremony be tonight but the rugby 7s are already playing Quarter Finals and the Football is already being abandoned due to crowd trouble (that'll again be England fans no doubt even with no GB entrants)?

Because the BBC doesn’t have the broadcasting rights they lost control of the rights to the Olympics after they were sold to US broadcasting giant Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) for £920 million in 2015, you can’t listen to local BBC radio like Tees.
The games finish on Sunday the 11th meaning there could be problems trying to listen to Yeovil game the day before.
