South Shields had a good quality programme on sale for £3.

If theirs is viable on the crowds they get, why the f*** is a printed programme a non-starter for Pools? banghead

that seems a more modern trait though as my old man and my mates always liked a pint and food but never at a match or just before it. if we cannot have a printed programme as least a printed team sheet could be made available for those like me that wants it. even in early games you are not sure who and which our new players are never mind our opponents. the club could make a few quid every game by providing a sheet of paper for fans.

on the whole are fans overbothered about either being used or not available. same as the cashless food and drink outlets that fortunetly i have never used much but would stop me doing so if i did. will never forget being made look like a kid where i had to ask someone to buy me a pie and gave him my cash instead of the seller at another cashless ground.

more clubs that stop having them the more they,ll go up in value eventually. the shittier pre and early post war ones are worth quite a bit now and if they did one a nelson v new brighton one would be worth a high 3 figure amount maybe 4.

I was having a bit of a tidy and found a couple with George Potter, Alan Goad, Billy Ayre, on the teamsheets a couple of weeks back. Wouldn't think they're even worth the equivalent purchase price.

It’s a case of supply and demand and I don’t believe there is much demand. The last I heard they were £3 and they don’t even have an up to date team selection. Remember they used to give alterations over the tannoy.

I like a proper printed programme too - nice souvenir of the day and invokes memories of the games you attended.

Say the IMPOSSIBLE actually happened and Pools made it to Wembley in the Playoff Final or the FAT Final - everybody would want an Official Matchday Printed Programme - a downloaded one just ain't going to cut it- particularly years after once you've changed your phone a couple of times. Even if you did manage to transfer it across devices- would only be a matter of time before the software wouldn't support it.

I honestly don't think it's too much to ask, for a full time professional club to be expected/ required to produce a printed Matchday magazine.

programmes lost some of their interest once they stopped having the teams of the day in them and just showed teams squads. miss scratching the name of a disliked player out like in the old days and writing his replacement in. quite a number of non league clubs have them but the club does not print them, the supporters club does. question i always ask myself is does the club make a loss on them or just cannot be arsed producing and selling them.

The last season Pools had them they did their best to hide them on the Mill House side of the ground. If they paid their casual staff enough to retain them and had them sell programmes AND lottery tickets they'd boost sales of both. They did it once for a few months and it's the only time I've ever bought a lottery ticket regularly.

Couldn't they just print the lotto number in the programme, and that's your ticket, and also have supplementary ticket sellers for everyone else who didn't want or manage to get a programme.
Could also do a face in the crowd competition for regulars. Or print percentage off vouchers for the club shop inside for a time limited period.

The programme wouldn't have to be of telephone book thickness, to help try and keep printing costs down. Any money raised beyond printing costs could go to youth development. Get the Youth team to sell them, so they have a vested interest and then wouldn't need to pay others.

Problem is that teams these days don’t announce their team until one hour before kick off so what’s the use of a program without team. Todays programmes at all levels are more of a magazine.

once there was a thing with the lucky programme number winner. was that too easy or not complicated enough for todays world.

Monkey Business went from paper to online but at least it was a decent read and free, what value is there in a printed programme where it’s probably printed days before a game and if the game is cancelled what happens to the printed programmes, they can’t keep them for the rearranged date as that could be weeks away and it would be out of date.

Programmes to all intents and purposes are resigned to history, they are not really needed, they date from a pre internet age where grounds didn't possess electronic scoreboards, they told you things you didn't already know, whereas now fan's collect them either because they always have or hope to get a nice colour pic of their favourite player or the team, what I find amazing is a lot now don't even include obvious stuff like a league table or the leagues top scorers etc

however programmes keep memories alive for that game you attended for different reasons and its nice to look back at them just to keep that memory alive. do not collect them but i have a few i,ll never get rid of for my own personal reasons. something those of the present and future will be unable to do.

Just save it to a file on your phone, name it HUFC Programmes, you can view it anytime you want.

I tried that Jamie with some ship photo’s down at Plymouth, half of them disappeared overnight and no one could get them back, even though they said they could…..probably should have consulted the grandkids when they came home from nursery.
Ah well.

Tech is ok if it’s used correctly, nothing worse been stood at check out and the person wants to pay using their phone. Instead having the app all ready before paying they start fiddling about with it trying to find the app.

or those who pay by car and its declined and have to try others to pay. you would think these phones also never lose their charge with the constant use people make with them. possibly one of the few things they do is actually talk to another person on them. the reason i do not have one where in a month i can count calls i make on one hand.

I've packed in with my land line as the only calls I ever got were from scammers and people after summat. We kept it on until my mother in law passed away as she refused to have a mobile but now it is redundant.

pity there is not a device for people like me and others usually blokes who make very few phone calls or receive them thats really cost effective. once a week out of the football season is about my upper limit unless there is an emergency or a new signing for pools or stockport to yap about or another car purchased. always wonder what lasses find to blather about if they do not watch football, own cars or dogs. nothing much left that i can see.
