We've already got three injuries: Waterfall, Mancini and Charman. I am guessin they got hurt in training because they didnt play last week. Three injuries before a ball is kicken in anger does not bode well for the rest of the season.

Or is it the plastic pitch they train on? Didnt Phillips express reservation about it prior to his dismissal?

Maybe their heads still spinning from sarlls revolutionary cutting edge training methods, or recovering from ‘size 9s in their backsides’

Gateshead beating Sunderland 2-1 after one hour. Looks like they found another gem of a player on loan from Derby called Oseni scored both. They had that black forward last season who scored for fun including 2 past us and it looks like they have replaced him with another " whoops they did it again " signing. This is what happens when you improve a clubs player they start to trust you and use you again n again. This Sunderlands 1st team and they got a penalty to score.

just saw the goals--nice little touch by Campbell for the 2nd, I know its only the first friendly but we are playing absolute pub teams--really hope the next few games are more serious.
Pitch looked shit as well

fans get worked up about them because they have not seen their clubs play for months and put too much emphasis on the results. if we have a behind closed doors friendly during the season its hardly going to get a mention.

Yeovil just beat Frome Town 5-0 using 25 players among them a handful of trialists. So it seems they're starting their pre season friendlies in a very similar fashion.

Plenty of grass on gray fields to train on.
And sand on our beaches to get them super fit.
This Durham malarkey doesn't work.
A bit of Xtra cash to go on the team.

It's wether the squad is weak between August and May that matters isn't it? No points win or lost during the close season.

Supposedly one of the players criticised for their returning fitness was in fact Mancini. Hes been pelted through his paces and given a good kick up the ass (the french arrogance in him hasnt liked this im hearing). He was wrapped in cotton wool and now back under this harsh training regime his body hasnt liked it by all accounts. Luxury player unfortunately. This will be a recurring feature with him throughout the season im guessing. We will see him for a hand full of games then he will be injured. Not a good start for him to be "dead legged" already. No doubt that hammy isnt any good.

New player(s) through the door today also according to the man in the know on the other board - also possibly a GK too.

id be surprised if any of the trialists bar that new winger on saturday get another looking at.

I have a bad feeling sarll is going to try and make an example of Mancini to try and prove ‘the collective is more important etc’ and show who’s boss

Reminds me of how Martin Scott tried to treat Boyd…and we all know how that turned out
If he wants Mancini to run through walls and press relentlessly then it shows a lack of flexibility and imagination on sarlls part in terms of using players to the best of their ability

The point I am making is horses for courses, running around like mad is t Mancinis strength but he brings other qualities and good managers are able to combine that, think
Warnock with Taarabt at qpr , time will tell but we do have a rare talent for this level in Mancini and if sarll can’t see that our loss will be someone else’s gain

So what exactly has DS done wrong (in your opinion) with Mancini or do you just have an issue with every manager that isn't DC?

Just responding to the comment above, I am ingeneral reserving judgement on sarrl until the season starts, I do think however his interviews where he talks about backside kicking and the players not ever having seen his methods before are cringe inducing and a throwback to the 80s and it wouldn’t surprise me if the more experienced players are eye rolling somewhat

That being said none of it matters if he produces a winning team and I hope he does, the signings so far are at least encouraging

Mancini has proved nothing so far, A hand full of games means nothing.
Theres a reason he ended up at pools, What it is we don,t know.
But i bet Snarll has a good idea.

he proved good enough to be signed on loan by a league 1 club and previous managers could not get him back into the side quick enough. one bad injury followed by another might or not prove he,s a sick note. he could be but also it could have just been one of those seasons all players have.
