If we played this Sat he could field a team of

Dixon
Dodds
Fergy
Parkes
Waterfall
Sheron
Hunter
Mancini
Grey
Armstrong
Mani D

Which is a strong 11 with the likes of Mani O, Fev, Wallace, Burton, Stephenson and Charman on the bench.

No where near enough depth to get through a season but enough to get started assuming all those players are fit.

Armstrong?

The side going to FC Hartlepool is described as a "Pools XI." There'll be plenty of Academy players and trialists on view.

No 1st team players involved and Ian Mc in charge. Hope the trialists are worth the £8 admission fee. Record crowd of around 2000 for a Academy game.

the game means sod all for the season ahead but if i was up on saturday i,d give it a go. remember mancini was a trialist 12 months ago and you might be able to tell the grandkids you saw so and so in their first pools game years before they became captain of, insert your own country.

Each season we generally have at least four or five trialists but very few get signed up. Mancini seems to buck the trend remember most of these trialists are out of work searching desperately to find employment.

bit like players now who are not fixed up with new clubs. sarll mentioned this in his interview that its getting to the time that they need pools more than we need them. a good position to be in if the right man is available.

Yes there must be loads holding on for better deals which won't be forthcoming and deciding to take what's available right now.

well unless people are making the whole thing up there must be something in it that beck wants away or solihull want him off their books even if like he said he,s still a solihull player who the club might look at if he became available.

DS seems a massive admirer of the man - says so himself in the interview. I think he even probably told Joe to try and contact his agent and ask if he wants to be back up home.
Probably poached him more than out else. We are deffo in for him but i think we cant afford the release payment so its upto Beck as DS kind of mentioned to get out of his contract or negotiate terms to come here - probably see a season loan with the option to buy like Dolan did.

He was put on the transfer list when Solihull announced the retained list along with Gus Mafuta. It looks like the club want shot.

I so want one of these to be right but your 'sources' track record is not great (being kind).

Olley would be excellent but would require a fairly large fee and would likely mean Mancini was off, as I can't see him coming in to be back up.

Not sure about the Mancini quote.
Under contract with injury problems.
Be surprised if we get more than 30 games out of him.
But life's a gamble.
Could be the Chris Waddler of division 5.

did mancini have an injury problem before we signed him or was it just one of those injury hit seasons many players have always gone through. he only made a handful of appearances at accrington but was that due to injury or not being the coleman type and his time with burnley we know nothing about.

This is why a manager saying he wants a small squad is nonsense we could of been 1 player down in the first few days.

Dixon isnt good enough to be our keeper and its highly unlikely dodds will even start the season. So we deffo need more strength. The forward positions look way better than the back end of last season though.

And we need to let Armstrong go back to his current club Carlisle. But no worries we have signed a good player called Campbell who will take his place.

Beck has a history of back trouble. Its one reason he plays a few then gets benched or left out for a couple of games.
Maybe he would struggle to pass a medical now?

He's a strange one for sure, when he came back into the team he has some really good games and was mom. Then he went drastically downhill.
We got promotion with as poor a keeper as Dixon starting the season.

We had 2 keepers in the 1990/91 season, Brian Cox & your user namesake Mr Gloves.

Hodge played the following season in division 3 & I think Moverly played a few seasons beforehand!!

Read on anutha forum Gateshead offered Beck more wages than Pools.
And he's possibly ain't ruled out going part time as has been offered a good job in the NE outside of Football.

Looks like he's got options.
Personally I don't want anutha sick note player at Pools.

If true it could possibly different deals offered, doubt he'd be ahead of Mani D with us whereas with Gateshead losing Dinanga he'd possibly be their 1st choice striker?
At the end of the day every club that makes an offer have their own valuations of a player.
Definitely had more than our share of sickness types with Williams, Lacey, Wallace,

take williams out of it but did lacey and wallace have a history of injury problems before we signed them. its a pity but beck has and when he is available he,s quite a handful for defenders even if some do not rate him. just imagine a fully fit beck coming on after 60 odd minutes after someone like mani d has given them a torrid time before his introduction or vice versa.

Solihull have just signed two forwards so I reckon they will now off load Beck on a free or small fee to avoid paying more wages to him. Yes we know he is injured at the moment but maybe this opens a door to Pools. I think he would be a very good back up for ManiD even though we now have 10,000 forwards.
