well voters still have a week to decide who is the best local option to labour. at least for once they are being honest before a general election and might as well come out with the next obvious labour policy as their new war on the motorist. i,m certainly expecting big rises in fuel prices and big changes in the price of the road tax in their first two budgets.

If they bring net zero back to 2030 you might as well enjoy you car when you can.
There’ll be all sorts of little things coming out to kill cars, a mandatory age for vehicles, scrap after ten years? Tough MOT’s? More frequent MOT’s every six month? Road Tax jacked up? Speed limits reduced? Licences tightened up? Mileage limitations?
Those with electric vehicles will get shafted eventually and we’ll all be in the bus queue….going backwards to green world.

Of course electric vehicles owners are going to be shafted at some stage currently you don’t pay Road Tax on an electric vehicle, wait till if they become more common and they will be taxed.
It’s like when every one was encouraged to switch to diesel cars then the price of diesel became more than petrol and the road tax was increased on diesel cars, now they are phasing out diesel cars.

You’re correct Jamie, the electric charging point will become the new petrol pump and be charged accordingly……I expect home charging points will have a separate meter installed and as vehicles on the road will be reduced due to people not being able to afford to purchase electric vehicles, fuel duty will rise to compensate for reduced vehicles on the road …..

They plan most things at least 30 years in advance. So when it was decided around 1994 to go electric those companies that are fuel connected will 100% have been allowed for in the future plans of profit sharing and changes.

We don’t have enough power generation currently for regular usage never mind electric vehicles. France accounted for around £1.5bn of power sold to the UK in the year to November 2023 while Norway earned around £500m.
The U.K. needs to look at mini modular nuclear power stations instead of building mega ones which cost a fortune and take for ever to build.
Also if we switch to heat pumps although they are very expensive more electricity generation will be required.

We certainly do, but there’s even a trend among the just stop oil shower towards rejecting wind turbines, solar panels and nuclear power…they want to take us back to the Stone Age.

The climate changers are pandered to like sacred cows by the powers that be. The practical result of not using fossil fuels would leave us in the crap…..oil goes into the production of so many things that life as we know it today would be impossible…the very thing I’m typing on, this keyboard, would be impossible were it not for oil, it being a large part of the components needed for its operation.
These people are some doom cult who want to lead us back to poverty.

if they want a life without oil just let em be but do not expect the vast majority that do not to follow them. feel that them and their supporters see themselves like the votes for women sufferegettes, which i have heard them compared with. this is what we are up against and its up to us to make as much noise as they do if we get a chance.

Byproducts from oil refining is used to produce plastics, as well as lubricants, waxes, tars and even asphalt for our roads. Nylon, polyester, and many types of fabrics we use that allow us to camp, recreate, and enjoy the outdoors are all made possible by oil and natural gas.
We need to ask The Stop Oil Protesters what we are going to substitute oil and gas with, we will all be running about wearing loin cloths and in our bare feet.

actually i doubt they really mean just stop all oil but the oil used to fuel vehicles and power where they feel green alternatives are available in their eyes. they,d need a banner longer than their supporters to state their full intents. again i just wonder what other causes they represent though on their days off. possibly the same ones in care for all immegrants across the world who are welcome here.

Got really pissed off on Monday, had to pick up some tickets up from Billingham and I drove back the long way down the Tees Road and at the Seal sands roundabout and had this massive artic behind me…I’m doing 60 and this clown is six foot behind me can’t see his number plate or windscreen…not just bullying but dangerous to an inexperienced driver…third world driving standards or a nutter…or both.

When I first visited North Wales we crossed that old ancient metal bridge on the way to Prestatyn with its strange road markings  It felt like going back in time to the railway children.

or looking for a road sign written in both languages. by the time you find the english version its too late as you missed your turn off. even all the welsh do not speak it even if they might learn it in school under sufference. last time in wales was at cardiff and ended up getting bloody lost just to keep the welsh language nutters happy.

Wife likes North Wales but I’ve swerved it for a few years….went to Anglesey last time…they all have six fingers.
Drove up to this pub and followed the songs to the car park only to turn the corner into the beer garden  …..as I was backing out a local told me it’s been changed for five years and everyone knows it’s a beer garden..
Obviously word never reached Hartlepool and the known world that the pub’s car park was now a beer garden. banghead
Now that’s what you call parochial.

not bothered about parking meters but having to put a quid in for a safety measure is a disgrace especially if you spend a near fortune to fill your car up there. surely they should provide you with a free disk if you want one to check something as important as tyre pressures if you spend over a certain amount on fuel.

Agree about the tyres  I believe the garage in blackhall is free. But still not happy about the money the parking meters keep. Yesterday I only had £1 coins on me and parked in the underground at the shopping centre, I was just popping into the market to drop of a birthday present only took me 5 mins but her indoors insisted I bought a ticket. The price for 1 hour is £1.10 but I had to put in two £1 coins and got no change again banghead I didn't check but I now wonder if I was given more time for the 90p they kept sctatchinghead If not I could be ticketed if I went over my 1 hour even though I paid almost double sctatchinghead

always leave her in the car clutching the coins to use the machines if a high viz council fascist is seen checking if i have to nip out for 5 minutes as my 5 would be her 25. thing is if there is a free air machine its better to cough up if you are not passing it and if a small plac like that can do it i,m sure supermarkets could follow suit instead of charging you 3/4 a litre of fuel for doing it.

surprised the government hasn,t latched onto these profits and tax us on the amount we breath. then the rich and the royals would find a way to get out of it though i,d guess.

surprised the government hasn,t latched onto these profits and tax us on the amount we breath. then the rich and the royals would find a way to get out of it though i,d guess.

That's like the " daylight robbery " tax  My son used to do history tours around York and I went with him on one. He showed us buildings that had the windows bricked up and that was because the King charged people tax for daylight  If you didn't pay they bricked up your windows and then charged you for the bricks and labour  So either way he got your money banghead Nothing changes more cruel charges on the poor different king rakxe

mind you it might have been good for insulation and the king was just looking at the well being of his subjects.

Regarding York, I’m just chuffed I’ve got some Viking DNA in me, but…must have been hard Labour rowing across the North Sea …then up the river…then having to go on the old pillaging routine…I’d have needed a sit down to lose me sea legs.

another one that winds me up is toilets that are called bathrooms when they are not. is this another yank thing as it seems on the increase. i go to a toilet to shit and piss. i go to a bathroom for a wash simple. if anyone comes to my place and ask for the bathroom they,ll be showed it as its separate from the toilet and will not be shown that until its asked for.

Be good though if you walked off with your ‘toilet bag’ and bath towel.

Don’t they call Bathrooms Washrooms in the States, not many house have separate toilets and bathrooms, most council house did and older properties.
My daughter was looking at buying a house, most ex council houses she looked at had made the toilet and the bathroom into one room.

The one’s built from the 50’s through to the 70’s had separate toilets so as soon as they bought them most people knocked them into one ..
My late uncle was a joiner and worked on them and he said they were well over spec, the outside doors for the early ones were decent hardwood.

why people do that is beyond me even though they make one room a bit bigger by doing that. when they are busting for a piss when someone is laying in the bath to get their skin all wrinkled some will wish they had kept the toilet separate. its like those who do houses up and insist on making the biggest kitchen out of it they can. a drawer would be big enough to put take away menu,s in.

Ours is all in one….best part is ….the wife got me to take the one out downstairs to put the tall freezer in.
Trouble is if someone’s in the bath , you’re outside practicing folk dancing.

When I was a nipper we had one inside bathroom and one outside toilet  We had to go outside to open a door that should have been on the inside to use the fooking thing even in the winter and it's was proper freezing sat on that fooking monstrositie in the middle of the night. It scared me for life because even now when I use the toilet it's " splash dash and out "
