All 3 signings were signed from other NL clubs.

All 3 signings have been described as very hard workers and physical, each measuring 6 foot or greater.

All 3 signings have experience of the NL level.

Hunter and Sheron were ever present for two of the better NL teams last season with 44 and 45 NL appearances respectively.

Those two signings had a mixture of reviews from their own fans, the positive is they haven't been completely written off by their entire fan base, some fans rated their respective contribution.

It has been difficult to find fans views of Luke Charman of AFC Fylde however he was offered a contract by Chris Beech who is no mug.

Who knows what they would be like, but they are relatively proven at this level.

Although we are still short of players, this recruitment approach does seem to be a continuation of the signings of Waterfall and Parkes (at least on paper) as opposed to the Patterson, Ndjoli or Hastie approach who had no relevant experience.

All signings are a gamble, but these look better than what we’re used to.

2 from the area which means there shouldn't be any issues with living up here.
All 3 mid twenties and 2 with efl experience sounds promising too.
But until we see them play for us we hope that they'll be good enough to get those extra 12 points or whatever it was to make the play offs at least.
Looks like there's plenty of midfield options we could do with some pacy wingers and defensive options coming in now.

Not too bothered about what the fans of previous clubs say about players. There's always liable to be an element of sour grapes, especially when they've turned down a contract offer to leave, which is the case with Hunter and Sheron.

there are far more positives than negatives with them at the moment. the biggest thing is when we actually see em play in a competitive match to make our own mind up.

Thats one of our main problems total lack of pace

pools being a 5th tier club are more likely to sign a headless chicken who has real pace to burn and nothing else. prefer someone who can read the game and able to make a yard in the box to get a shot on goal. having a slow midfield last season does not mean we need to concentrate on signings just for pace only and have nothing else to offer.

A goalkeeper, defender and quick winger are still badly needed.

Remember how quick Dodds is, he's on track to be back for preseason.

If we sign those 3 positions of the Waterfall, Parkes, Hunter and Sheron ilk I'll be pleased.

We can then fill any remaining gaps with loans.

if only you hadn,t put that last sentance in i,d have agreed totally. just cannot think of another team who had loan players as bad as the majority we seem to get. it will be fine if only we could sign a loan player like the one gateshead got that tore us to pieces and made the big difference at their place. what will we get though the likes of the badly named trusty.

I think there is potential for us to sign a good young keeper on loan according to the rumour mill.

One a bit like Jakob who has been playing for Leicester recently.

We have done badly with loans as we were signing 6-7 and always utilising 5 in the match day squad, usually young lads who didn't seem to care.

It was too much of an imbalance.

2 of the 3 can cover defensively which in it self is a bonus.

When was the last time we had proper physicality in the team? You’d have to go back to Ralph Wright and Mick Tait, two people who were charged with murder every week.

How they let Wrighty play with his arm in a cast was beyond me, a bit like giving a pyromaniac a gallon of petrol….he made use of that cast well at corners…you could say he lead with his arm  .

Didn't we attempt to sign John Hickton when he had his leg in a cast?

Keith Nobbs / Roy Hogan / Paul Baker / John Mcfail / Billy Ayre / Alan Goad / Alan Little / Dick Malone / Bobby Kerr / Willie Bolan / George Smith / Super Gordon Watson there is not many players like that now due to the stupid rule changes. Funny thing back then very few got really bad injuries after full contact but now a sneeze puts a player out for months. I was told as a 11 yr old never pull out of a tackle otherwise you could get a bad injury  It's incredible to think we once had Ray Kennedy of Liverpool playing for us after winning every domestic honour in the game. He signed for Liverpool in july 1974 took a little time to settle then helped Liverpool to win the league in 1975 / 6 1976/ 7 1978 / 9 1979 / 80 and 1981 / 2 . Also won the Europe cup in 1977 / 1978 / 1981 and UEFA Cup 1976 UEFA Super Cup 1977 League Cup 1981 also Chartity Shield 1976 / 77 / 79 Goal of the season 1978 / 9 aswell as runner up medals in FACup 1977 UEFA Super Cup 1978 & League Cup 1978 he played for England 17 times scoring 3 times. WOW what a superb record that man had. His signed for us in November 1983 and was diagnosed with Parkinson's in November 1984. He played 23 games for Pools in 1983 / 4 scoring 3 times. Surely the most honoured player ever to play for little old Artlepool sctatchinghead Sadly he died in in November 2021 aged 70 yrs. The illness cost him his marriage his business and the later years of a golden carrier.

Monkhouse was the King of Shithousery!
What a player he was, was gutted when he left, have never replaced him and exactly the type of player we need. Was a great time to be a Poolie, when he was in his pomp under Danny Wilson.

I remember Ray Kennedy hitting a shot from about 40 yards it barely left the grass and hit the post nearly breaking it. V Doncaster I think?

The other bona fide great who played for us was Peter Beardsley - 59 caps for England. Only played 22 times for Pools (scored 2). You could same him and Kennedy were more or less finished but it was great to see them turn out for us - no chance it will ever happen again because top footballers make so much money these days.

I was saying that exact same thing to my lad today  It's just a shame most of those " real & proper players " got a small fraction of the money and add ons that these " pretend soft as shite players " get now. The money is totally crazy at top clubs and most of these players are average compared to the great players of the past. I do not include quasimodo in that he earned plenty of dosh even back then.

The thing watching Beardsley was the passes he’d make but most of the players around him weren’t on his wavelength and didn’t see the situations he created, he had a brain for the deadly, his mannerisms hid a football genius.

They were the exceptions though weren't they, how many old pros came to us just to collect final wages and were terrible?
It would be good to see us finding or bringing through some players who go on to play in the top divisions again. Poskett, the Linighans, Joe Allon, Don Hutchison, McKinnon, all on their way up when they played for us and going on to the highest levels.

The thing watching Beardsley was the passes he’d make but most of the players around him weren’t on his wavelength and didn’t see the situations he created, he had a brain for the deadly, his mannerisms hid a football genius.

Remember him at Rochdale away spraying passes out wide to players but they all appeard to be bad passes. He got quite a lot of abuse yet his passes " like you say way " above the level of our players. I witnessed him playing a testimonial sctatchinghead at Pools once and a young lad around 8 yrs asked him to sign the program at the end of the game he said no banghead and walked straight past him on the grass. He was more concerned with other players telling him how great he was and how much they appreciated him coming down to play. Never liked him since ..no wonder Newcastle sacked the arrogant ugly little man.

Ray Kennedy about 82ish.
Always remember that shot like ya said almost snapped the Rink End post.
The days of swapping from the town end to rink end at half time most games.

It's incredible to think we once had Ray Kennedy of Liverpool playing for us after winning every domestic honour in the game.

The shit Beardsley passes were the plastic jawdees from that era who said the Pools players weren't good enough to read them.

So glad they blew that 12 point lead under Keegan.

I remember Don Hutchinson making a pass into an empty area of the pitch and everyone moaned until it dawned that someone should have been there.

Don,t think he would have any problem scoring a few and helping others do the same.
Don,t think he will stay at Crawley.

Think its a long shot mind,Lge 1 to NatLge.

Must be honest when I saw the name Adam Campbell I was not overjoyed but on looking on Wikii I changed my mind. Last season he was a regular in the Crawley team that won promotion.

He was mentioned last week as well so there might be something in it. Campbell was offered a new contract by Crawley but hasn't signed it as yet. It'll take a decent wages offer to get him.

Would be a signing of intent.

Also hearing Mark Beck FWIW. There’s definitely something in Adam Campbell links, not too sure about Mark Beck.

Had a great first season for Pools. Best ginge ever in the blue and white.

actually i met him out dog walking when i lived in the midlands. he seemed quite embarrassed to be recognised. now players like him would be penalised for the most rediculous foul ever. use of excessive force. somthing players were told to do if they wanted to avoid injury. now they cannot do that but get injured themselves. makes you wonder doesn,t it.
