I reckon Southend will survive but skin of the teeth stuff. However Gateshead seem to be implodeding Carl Magnay gone to MKD to join Williamsons management team despite saying he would be staying no matter what. Now it's suspected the manager Rob Elliot is following this week. The club are telling the fans nothing at all but insiders are telling the fans all the good players are looking to move, that includes the contracted ones. Some negotiations are apparently taken place between the players union and the National League to allow these players to move on. This came from an ex work mate and proper sound Heed fan. He also said a lot of rumors flying about saying Pools are in for one or two players but he cannot confirm if its true or just gossip  He told me the latest problem came after Notts County persuaded Longstaff to stay with them another season and made him captain for next season. Gateshead have a large sell on clause for Langstaff which the owners had factored in for next season fully expecting him to be sold on after a large queue of clubs wanted him. But now he reckons the end is very close barring a minor miracle. If he is right it's simply not on what's happened to that club over the last couple of months. I hope both these clubs can find a way to survive.

I just visited the County forum and its true Longstaff accepted the captaincy and agreed to stay but the fans are panicking a little over the ex manager wanting him at Swansea. It also appears Sunderland have joined the chasers and Langstaff is a Sunderland fan even though he signed for Newcastle as a youngun. Maybe Sunderland can still turn his head if true and Gateshead could still get that golden egg. sctatchinghead Football Eh

Stay at Gateshead or get your agent to get you signed up for Pools.
An absolute no brainer for any decent player even if Pools is temporary.

Really struggling to see why Pools haven't already cherry picked there best players.

Our baggage excuse has run its course and is no longer an excuse.

Hartleys misfits apparently held us back last season.
Well they gone now but doesn't look like they getting replaced with upgrades.
It's only middle of June I know blah blah blah. :angry-tappingfoot:

Southend has always been one of those teams we played often and i sincerely hope they survive.
Its not a plastic club.

funny how clubs like them never got into financial difficulties as severe as they have now when there was less money in the game and had local directors who owned small and medium sized businesses.

Surely our latest 2 recruits are an improvement on Patterson, Hastie and the rest of Hartleys motley crew?

Yeh i was hearing we have spoken to 1 or 2 of their players.

we may see them come in on loan as something to do with the contracts etc...

i would be surprised if we didnt at least pinch one of their better players tbh - Dinanga i think will go too.

Lost count of thre number of "D Days" for Southend over the past couple of seasons. I'm pretty sure they'll find a way to survive even if it is via a new date for the next "D Day". I wonder if this will still be going on this time next year?

The councils deadline for a positive reply as it says in the statement above.

"We have given them to Friday 21 st June to respond”

one thing is its getting impossible for them to celebrate D Day with the amount of dates they have had.
