Its the first time in Spanish history anyone has been jailed for racist abuse. If guilty fair enough even though 2 years sounds a bit harsh for any verbal abuse in my book. What concerns me more is the comments made by the player after the sentence was announced and I quote : " May other racists be afraid, ashamed, and hide in the shadows, otherwise, I'll be here to collect ". Surely a person in his privileged position should set a better example and refrain from saying something that sounds like a threat to me. I could be well of the mark here but is he telling these people " I have the fame and fortune " to go after you. One final thought would a couple of black fans get jail for abusing a white player.

Mr Bosh's statement that "there is no place in modern society for racism" is clearly questionable however as racist abuse directed towards a white person doesn't seem to attract as much anti fervour as it does if niggers are involved and is rarely prosecuted, if ever. I think what Vinicius Jnr is saying is that he will use his fame to get a response to racism and discrimination that the normal black person will not get from authority. Surely that is to be applauded in the same way a disabled Paralympic athlete highlighting issues with access or discrimination will be reported more in the media than a member of the public having the same issues.

Regarding most sports clubs, I find them up their own arses and very cliquey outfits… too Royston Vasey for my liking and wary and suspicious of outsiders and I mean everyone is an outsider to them.
