if we are not playing at least one of the big 3 North east teams during this close season i think we can all see how poorly ran this club may be over the season. Someone within the heirachy and it may be Joe Monks or that other women now who took over from Hobins sort of role need to get their finger out. But it will be the usual suspects... id like to see how we would do against a Spenny or South Shields.
Pointless playing Gateshead - might even get a Stockton town on the radar now who knows ? even Darlo would be a good pre season day out.

Agree about Gateshead. It would be an embarrassment we dont need just before season starts.

The season finished ridiculously early - a month drags on and other leagues caught up nearly.

Wonder if any of the staff have had the chance to go on holiday and enjoy the break?

It hardly matters when the friendlies are announced they won't happen for nearly 2 months.

Apparently Sarll had Dulwich Hamlet, Braintree and Concord Rangers lined up - till someone had a word...

Hopefully better than the trip abroad with Hartley where Pools struggled to put a team together, easy to say now but after watching the game against Hibs the writing was on the wall for the upcoming season.

I notice it hasnt taken newcastle long to arrange a friendly. Today in fact against Tottenham in Australia. Has anyone told these premiership teams about fixture congestion.

its congestion when they individually think it is. give any of them a promise of money and they,d all be off like a shot. if there was a winter break they,d all be off to the sun to play s many luctative friendly games as possible with their tired and overworked super stars.

as for pools friendly games you have to remember its for the coaching staff and players and not arranged to just keep us happy. never seen a pre season friendly game ever but some displays that must have been like ones.

England v Italy same day
Quarter final of euros if ranking/seeded teams progress 5pmkick off.
Heard they got a good pub/clubhouse who have some of the best pool players in the town on a Sunday night.
They need to make sure they got enough beer in for that day.
UTP.

thats what all pre season games are looked at. most are not organised for the benefit of the fans. there must be many like me who either never go to one or just the odd single one. really given the chance of any team who would get you down to the vic to watch one even with the guarentee of that side playing a first choice team.

Well it won't be the Sunderland team of last time who came to grief 2-5. And Pools, please don't get beat off FC please.

The 3 NLN sides will keep it competitive wanting to put one over us - better than the walks in the park that all the games against Northern League sides have been recently.
