What the record attendance is for a tier 3 league match is? sctatchinghead

I can't remember Forest or Wednesday getting 30,000+ and I'm sure that crowds were down in general when the mackems, Wolves & Sheff U were in this division.

49,000 Sheff Wed v Sheff Utd, second highest was the same season 78/79-ish, Sheff Utd v Sheff Wed around 46,000

That depends how far back you want to go.
Regular division 3 visitors like Hull City used to get jaw-droppingly big crowds in the 1950s.

How about this one. Not an absolute record I know but Belle Vue!

Record attendance, Doncaster Rovers: 37,149 v Hull City, Third Division North, Belle Vue, 2nd October, 1948

Also...

"In the 1948–49 season, managed by former England international Raich Carter, Hull won the Third Division (North), and their newly built Boothferry Park ground saw a crowd approaching 50,000 for the Christmas Day game against Rotherham United."

Edit: The exact figure appears to have been 49,655.

Cheers Parmo.

It may well be the best attendance, saturday, for nearly 30 years in this division, not bad, eh?

I suppose we'll all get used to it next season though.

29,313 is a recent benchmark that has to be beaten first (Shef Wed vs QPR, Hillsborough, last match of 2003/2004 season).
I don't have the info for Man City in 1998/99 but I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of 30000+ in there. They got 31,300 for the home leg of the play-off semi.

Yep, Cup Finals all. Sunderland's biggest home crowd by a mile in 2003/2004 (and far more than a paltry 30K) was against who again?

Gotta admit these big clubs with big stadia flock to see us like nobody's business. They probably get relegated specifically to be able to see their team play Pools.

Sunderland got around 30,000 when they were in this division about 20 years ago
