Went over today to get rid of carpet cut offs. Not been for a while and was amazed to see it's now a queuing system sctatchinghead I was in the queue for 20 minutes just to dump 2 bags of carpet. It does make me wonder if the council wants people to " fly tip " because at least 6 cars drove away instead of joining the queue. sctatchinghead I would love to know the person responsible for this crazy new system. Common sense is no longer avaliable to most people particularly the council. banghead

I think the new council are going to change it back to the original arrangement.

Strange, I find it a much better system, easy to book a slot online, turn up at your time, dump your sh!te, no problem. Issues are probably with people turning up on spec expecting to get straight in, causing hold ups and long queues.

Fly tipping, the biggest offenders are the council. Grass is a foot long in parts of the town, they send out the grass cutters then cuttings are like mad dogs sh!te, all over the place. If I did that there be friggin hell on. Don’t get me started on the brown bin tax.

Oakesway IE is the towns epicentre for fly tipping.
A camera on a lamppost would create lots of income in fines to keep our council tax down.
Is that to logical sctatchinghead

do not moan as they have shut ours for those living the south of the town. you need to go through the town to a duel carriageway to the other but block the road to wait to join a queue. more or less a hours job from joining the queue to the tip. the mention of fly tipping came up to a local councillor whose reply was that only those who fly tipped before would do it. do they have their brains removed once they get elected as in the last month there has been proof we are right and she was wrong. first time in my life i have took a car in for an engine oil change and felt embarresed doing it.

I agree, under the old system is was chaos as people would pull into bays blocking them off, the present system flows easy except at weekends when it gets busy and people don’t turn up at the pointed time and try to jump the queue and cause chaos, it’s a dream during the week.

Would the fact you now have to pay for the Brown Bin make more people go to the tip ?

Probably, but I go regularly and if you can avoid weekends it’s a doddle.in fact if it wasn’t for the tip I wouldn’t have a social life sadx

The way it is needs to stay - im sorry but if you though the old system was better then you must have only visited once a year.

ive been renovating a house so tip runs have become part of my weekly routine for some time now - ive come to learn when the best time to go are and its a an absolute doddle. The old system was chaos and frustrating - the tip seems alot tidier now too as i remember it being an absolute hell hole before as the guys didnt have chance to clean the public areas.

Correct…..it was a bun fight under the old system and chaos……it’s a lot safer for users too…..why did Labour have it as a pledge to do away with the booking system in their Local election manifesto sctatchinghead

Not sure now but when I was renovating my house I removed some plaster board walls, the tip wouldn’t take it as it couldn’t go to landfill, over the years they said plasterboard could build up heat and cause a fire. I eventually found a very expensive skip company who sold it onto company in Darlington who recycled it.

Anything to prevent fly tipping would be helpful?

One trouble with the tip is it’s in the wrong place.
As people come by cars it can cause some congestion at busy times before the booking system came in but still happens on a smaller scale…why it wasn’t built up Brenda Road towards the Power station end is a mystery.

It’s only a big yard with a load of skips, it could easily be moved elsewhere, I can’t remember seeing any fixed plant in there.

once you hardly saw any of that but now its an everyday event. who caused it to happen in the first place. lazy people or councils with there box ticking tip dumping rules. nobody i,d guess fly tips close to home but take it even further away than the tip is. once it was something you never thought about was going to a tip. now in my area you need a residents permit for a start and when you arrive there is always the usual council type jobsworth telling you you cannot put that there but not too good in telling you where you can put it. this here, that there when its rubbish that most of us have not created but been lumbered with.

No, you stop.
If you’re going to take offence at the mildest of comments and repeatedly claim you’re being ‘sniped’ at and trumpeting your victimhood you’d better toughen up, because I aint gonna change to accommodate your paranoia.
Have a nice day .
Jeez

Not paranoid, top and bottom Snowy you don’t like people jumping in on your posts, it’s not just me but you have a go at a few others as well. You need to stop turning your tablet/phone whatever you use as soon as you get out of bed. It’s noticeable that’s when you are at your worst.

So now I’m not just ‘terrorising’ you …..but half the board as well :scared-eek: ……then you complain about my mood early in the morning…..who’s pulling your strings, because you tediously complain I’m ‘sniping’ at you in the hope mud sticks…… you really are away with the fairies… stpid oh dear.
