you cannot even buy chips with cash but you can still obtain tickets on matchdays anywhere in the ground. doubt there is a single club left who get a 4,000 gate with a cash turnstile anymore, but the biggest concern and fear is the inability to get a ticket for a half empty away end on the day of an away match if you decide on the day you can make one.

Before qualifying for a concession admission many a time when I paid cash I was given a concession stub, was the gate person pocketing the difference ?
