A player we should be doing everything to get but I wouldn't be surprised if he moved up a league. We don't have the ambition to sign a player like that.

He's decent, would sign him up, assuming as Mr Hound said isn't dogged by injury - we've had enough of those recently

dear me that is a shock - probably in the top 3 of their better players, how bizarre. Clearly being poached by a club above and has been asked to let go so he can join them for free. Its that type of player you need in your side plus a Mani D and Mancini (when fit) that gets you out of this league. I just hope the rumoured players coming into the club happen as we will be a force next season thats for sure !

Any names to these rumours? All I've read is ex Woking players being linked.

He has suffered from heart problems (relating to health as opposed to love). He spent a long time out, returning to the Solihull team in December after missing the time from the seasons beginning. I wonder if this has a bearing on him being released.

You would think so, Only other reason would be a move up the ladder, But think Solihull would want a fee.

Seem to remember Asa Hartford had heart problems of some sort but still played at the highest level and also a Scottish international.

Molyneux out of contract.
So no transfer fee needed.
Anyone still think he's shit and we wudent miss him.

Fits into the philosophy I read someone post 4 good players on decent money is better than 8 shit players on shit money.

What a perfect opportunity to do this with the excuses of previous shit now out of contract and gone.

Opportunity Knocks.
Do we or don't we,...........

UTP.

He's out of contract but been offered a new deal by Doncaster after a good season for him so wouldn't think he'd be wanting to drop back to NL or that we would be able to compete.

No, Pools need 20 players who are all capable of starting games and doing the business, otherwise we’ll begin next season exactly the way we did the last one - with a decent first 11 (bar the keeper) and naff all behind them.

4 very well above NL standard players are better than 8 duds... IF and its a big IF for me ... if you can then afford to have 5 half decent on the bench. Plus the rest of the team being half decent too or if not very good ! Pools again dont have that luxury, even with 4 very good players added to the side we have already seen what can happen when 2 get injured or go missing. This league i still believe you need those who can go and win you games the old fashioned way plus have some right nasty buggers to mix it all up. Its shown that even when we do have footballers in the side, not everyone sings off the same hymn sheet. Guess its why its so hard being a NL manager and the ones who do get it right go onto better things like we have seen with DC, Cowley brothers the lad from Luton etc etc...

Consistency is the main thing and having that same 12/13 players available all season like we managed with the promotion season !

only new players ive also heard... but wouldnt take it as gospel is Jack Lambert from Kiddy, with them being relegated think he wants to stay in the NL and makes sense him coming up here with him being local. Also Blyth spartans CB << sure we may have been rumoured with him last year also.. probs one of their best players if its the right lad im thinking of.

yes you need 20 of a similar decent quality to give you a fighting chance. doubt chesterfield fielded the same 11 week in week out as that does not work nowadays with all those injuries that are around across the game now. if you rely on loans to bridge the gap well last season showed what a good policy that was.

Don't think we had a choice other than to use loanees did we? The depth of the squad was dreadful but we still had too many duds on the books (Hastie, Patterson, Ndjoli, Wreh, to name a few). Can't just go out and sign replacements every time someone gets injured and it doesn't help not having a reserve team either.

nobody has a reserve side anymore but i,m sure others got better loan players than we did and got more minutes out of em. khan and dickerson knackered or totally unfit surely did not help phillips cause of getting a contract even though clubs are limited in who they can sign at that period.

Doesn't alter the fact that not having a reserve side means too many don't get a competitive kick for months then are expected to be match fit and up to speed at the drop of a hat.
Phillips didn't have to select the loanees did he, Duffus and particularly Cooper got more time than they should have and to be fair we've got some promising kids who should've gotten more game time.
History now.

interestingly the way our approach was with the loan market - many of those that we did loan are now all out of contract and unemployed.

Somehow Colchester gave Cooper another contract but im pretty sure the rest all got released. Which for me looks so bad for our recruitment. We really did scrape the barrel and asked clubs to lend us players whom they knew would be surplus come the end of the season !

What? Considering Mani, Joe Grey, Feaths, Cooke and Crawford started every game that they were fit to start, remind me who else was available in midfield or up front? You don't play a load of 17 and 18 year olds when you're in a relegation struggle. They got their chance when Pools were safe.

History now - but you couldn't resist another dig - "to be fair"
