Just looked up transfers and the rules are not that clear really. It states a player under contract can talk to other clubs a month before his current contract expires. Now I would take that as being 30 days Or does it mean the actual month. It's either clear as mud or I'm a little thick.

Unless players sign pre- contract agreements (and I'm doubtful how binding they actually are) then no club will be signing anybody before the 1st June. No revenue, whilst existing contracts are honoured - only moneybag clubs like Stockport and Wrexham, will be able to finance and cherry pick the players they want.

I'll be shocked if we sign anybody of any quality before the middle of June- at the earliest.

lots of club sign players unofficially before that date or are in talks for weeks before and then announce the signing. clubs also have quiet words with players or now agents about their future especially the ones who are out of contract in june. would not shock me if we have a couple in the pipeline already who will be shown when the club sees fit with a new scarf around their necks coming out with the same scripted shite in an interview. cannot wait to be told how a big club we are and the greatness of our fans and their previous games against us and how impressed they are. then they drop the bag of gold on their foot and are out till christmas.

Pools didnt sign anyone last season till the first week of June - I remember being in Majorca and seeing we got Dixon and Burton through the door more a less the same day. I was quite shocked we had done business so quickly. So id presume we may see the first one through the door around then again - but it depends if Sarrl has a player(s) in mind or spoken with and can get them in asap. Makes no odds really unless others are sniffing as they are not going to be linking up with the team just yet for a preseason and most players out of contract get their holidays done and dusted first etc...

they did improve though and didn,t show what type of signings we were eventually going to make. going to be another few weeks of boredom before we hear a single thing happening on the transfer front. once you had the fa cup final to look forward to but thats another non event nowadays like most things in football at the top.

We normally do make a couple of signings early, when the season ticket money rolls in, then it goes quiet for a bit.

Think the likes of Burton and Stephenson will feature more in a Sarrl side tbh. All the youth prospects we have currently including the lad who won promotion on loan at Hebburn all look like ones for the future and it will be the first time since i can remember where a Pools team in a season fielded so many scholars. Hoping the same next season to see them again in cup games and feature alot more.
