Just been talking to a lad I used to work with who is a huge Heed supporter. He wondered why Pools didn’t approach Rob Elliott after deciding to replace KP. He was amazed we didn't but very relieved at the same time. He lives up here and will almost certainly be leaving Heed after the cup final. I would be disappointed if Pools overlooked a manager who has massively over achieved at such a small club in this league. Maybe the " board " had tunnel vision looking only at DS sctatchinghead I hope it's not a massive opportunity missed but only time will tell.

 Got be honest though I never even thought about him, not sure he was even mentioned on here by our lot. Then again we thought KP was staying but the " board " had the advantage of knowing KP was going and you would have thought one of those " experts " would have given it a thought. sctatchinghead

He's only been manager at Gateshead for half a season or so hasn't he? Took over a decent team and just kept the same style of play so a bit of a gamble to say the least thinking that he could come in here and sort out the team and squad here.
Besides which I'm sure if we'd brought him in there's a load would be saying he's unproven, the cheap option, brought in to take us into NLN etc etc

No he lost 2 very good players to MKD and lost 3/4 on loan good players  He then rebuild the side and done a wonderful job. I never said employ him did I sctatchinghead I just passed on what a friend said who is a very knowledgeably football supporter and ex North East scout for several clubs particularly Preston & Ipswich  Very interesting coming from a friend of the almighty Walter Mitty Shithead bully. banghead

I suspect our new manager’s job was sorted out long before Gateshead suddenly and unexpectedly imploded.
Just unfortunate timing, but who’s to say he’d have come here, he’ll have caught the eye of football league clubs no doubt.

Very true but he is based up here so it was a real possibility if we had approached him.

We'll never know, taking over as interim manager having been coach and already knowing g the club, and the players would be a doddle compared to trying to rebuild our lot.
Absolute lottery finding a manager that fits at any club - "the board" have rolled the duce already let's see what the outcome is.
If Elliott does leave Gateshead I'd imagine he'll find something at NLN level rather than anything higher at this stage of his managerial / coaching career.

really looking at the situation at pools and how a lot of fans react i,d have to be really despirate to take any job at pools at the moment. even dishing out the chips is fraught with danger by giving out the totally correct portions.

People with agendas never give a thought to the good of the club!

That's the point isn't it? The fans never knew there was a vacancy. We were deprived of a dozen pages of pointless speculation and the bookies were denied the chance to make another killing  Auld Ronnie would have been red hot favourite again - for at least a day.
