The people who are questioning where Jeff stands on all this must have missed his comments reported on the Daily Mirror website:

"Reacting to the news on Friday night, the former football Saturday presenter tweeted: “KP has been a breath of fresh air at our football club. I am gutted. Summer ruined.”

“I think we need to hear what has happened @Official_HUFC. KP may have got a blinding offer from another club. I know none of us think that is the case but I guess we have to wait to hear."

After he read the club statement this morning this is what he had to say:

“So now we know. Not KP’s decision to leave at all. I am lost for words.”

Club President certainly is only an honorific role these days! Jeff didn't even get a heads up before the rest of us. Expect he may well be the ex-club president by now.

This must be Raj's idea of running a more open club.

How can he say KP has been a breath of fresh air. The performances have been poor and his signings least said the better. Jeff is obviously a mate.

Because KP didn't seem to be a yes man. That's definitely a breath of fresh air.

So when Kev was waxing lyrical about the backing he was getting from Raj, did you believe him.

He had a contract till the end of the season. So he must have worked out he wasn’t going to be here because there can’t have been any planning for next season even being mentioned so I suppose he must have had an idea he was away at the end of the season weeks ago or being very naive.

You must have forgotten it's only last week since he was talking about the plans him and Joe Monks had well on to bring in 6 or 7 new players plus a couple of season long loans, not to mention the retained list. Not so much naive as led up the garden path!

Joe Monks has kept his job, so that'll be an awkward conversation - if they ever speak again.

Jeff Stelling may have had the title of club president bot do not forget he also put in a large donation to the
club when we were in danger of going bust and unlike Raj it was not a loan.

Ah so you were there when the conversation took place, you should have said. Of course you do realise that Kev, by complying to that instruction is demonstrating that he is a yes man. Well you've cleared two conundrums up there Billy. Well done, it makes a change from reading your whining. clappp clappp clappp

Managers are judged by results so whose fault has it been the last few years. Have we sacked any manager that the vast majority of fans disagreed with.

Jeff put 50k into the club so is a shareholder and is on the board. I’m curious to know how he doesn’t know more.

Thats because by the time we are done with them their careers are ruined, something phillips has probobly saved himself from.

If you can only buy cheap shit all the time you cant expect managers to work miracles. How long before sarl goes another manager thats done decent at times in this league.

Twaddle claimed it’s all good logic and common sense, before Raj burst his bubble by binning his hero Phillips without tipping him off first

I don't think Jeff is on the board now is he? I thought he had a falling out with Raj and is no longer a director, this was quite a while before play offs.
He definitely parks his car in the general car park rather than in a director spot.

As usual the OS is as clear as mud. The section called Who's Who says this:

The Board

Chairman: Raj Singh

Honorary President: Jeff Stelling

Group Finance Director: Paul Jubb

Club Ambassador: Andy Steel

The article called NeW HUFC Board Members on 14th April (a fortnight ago) announced:

"Hartlepool United are pleased to confirm that Andy Steel, Lennie Lawrence and John Walter Mitty Shithead will adopt newly created roles on the HUFC Board to support and deputise key functions of Commercial, Football and Supporter Engagement respectively. The trio will take up their Director positions with immediate effect."

Not immediate enough for the OS obviously

What interests me is who the new power behind the throne is. Obviously Jeff wasn't consulted about the new manager appointment but somebody has been working away on it - Lenny? Nice work if you can get it by the way Len - board member and on the payroll as Assistant Coach. Marking your own homework  Or is that about to change?

If this is the case and JS affiliation to Pools is as a fan only then I apologise for being a bit harsh on him.

Jeff Stelling is really only honorary president anyway as he is a household name that regularly put pools on the map when the goals and results were coming in. fine that he game the club money when he did, but doubt its going to put him in the bankrupcy courts because of it. there,ll be fans who would be hurt more putting a fiver into a bucket collection.

I do like KP.
I do like Jeff Stelling.
Yes I think I would be comfortable referring to KP as a breath of fresh air.
What I think however is irrelevant. He is no longer at the club and we have a new man at the helm. We will never find out whether KP would have taken the club forward but, given the bits that we do know, I think it is feasible to believe that he would have done so.
I have tackled the three options you gave me, if you have any more feel free to ask and I'll try and address them.

Mr D what bits do you know that makes you believe that KP would have taken us forward. His signings were poor and all though results were OK at best the performances were not that good.

On a point of order
I didn't say that I believed he would have taken us forward, I said it was feasible to believe that, meaning that if people wanted to suggest that, it was a feasible thing to say. My opinion was that he still had lots to do if he had been given the job going forward and I was prepared to wait and see what sort of squad he built up before judging.
I think you have answered your own question with your reference to results. It is a results business and something that managers stand or fall on. I think it is fair to say that, considering the circumstances he worked under, he did a good job. All the permanent signings he was working with were recruited by others and the sick note list was ever present reducing his options. I wasn't dead against him nor was I desperate to keep him. Hope that suitably enlightens you on the matter of my opinion.
I would point you to the comments Mr Flying Hogans put forward if you want another perspective.

as for club presendents and other honory positions it might be a good thing to start unpaid positions to recognise people like sweens and featherstone for their long service to the club.

Mandy was the club president, I think he only attended one game, title means out or nowt.
Hartlepool United Football Club Limited is 99.6% owned by Clarence 18 Ltd, of which Sukhraj Singh holds the controlling interest. I assume Jeff Stelling or others own 0.4% of Pools.

Mr D like you I wasn’t against keeping him or bothered against letting him go. I think that would be the verdict of most supporters. He just didn’t do enough to overly impress me but the way it has come about leaves a bit of a sour note a done Raj no good.

It depends how you interpret it mate. I take the attitude that the club do what they want and I can't influence that. I used to get all uptight over decisions but I've realised that blowing your brains out over things you don't or can't control doesn't do you any good, especially as we don't get communicated with anywhere near enough so have to put up with fans making it up as they go along.
It's the sort of situation that makes people give the whole thing up as the doom and gloom surrounding the club gets people so depressed and fed up. That's football for you.
