Kiddy keeper ( son of Andy ) has 17 clean sheets despite his team being in the relegation spots. Reckon he could be on our shopping list given his form and the connection with his dad playing for Pools. sctatchinghead

Don't think his Dad likes Pools- given the amount of stick we gave him. Both when he played for us and afterwards!

When he stayed in the Staincliffe he dropped his towel when answering the door to a young room service girl. He had just got out the shower and ordered a salad which she delivered to his room. That story was told to a group of us by John Breward. The hotel rang the club and John went over to see what exactly happened. Dibble said he reached out for the tray and the towel slipped. The girl said he opened the door and he dropped the towel deliberately and smiled at her. Anyway John apologised and made Dibble move out straight away to a different hotel. Pools paid the full month stay in one go even thought he had only been in the Staincliffe for two weeks.

not as bad as what happened to me at aston villa,s training ground first time i went. it was just a mass of doors and thinking i had found the refs changing room i walked in to see ron atkinson covered by a small towel covering a small area. not a pretty sight i,ll tell you.

I’d be content with keeping Jameson. He hasn’t really put a foot wrong this season but do need some decent competition to keep him on his toes, I suspect Joel Dixon would have signed a two year deal which may be a stumbling block.

If we’re looking at anybody from Kiddie, it should be ex-Darlo Jack Lambert.

Jameson is on loan from Harrogate. Not sure of his contract situation with them. If his deal is up maybe they would release him so he could sign for us. If not would they want a transfer fee which we probably wouldnt want to pay? Maybe someone on here knows more about this.

Since the arrival of Parkes and Waterfall Jameson has looked a competent keeper, any keeper would look bad in our Kamikaze defence prior to their arrival.

i know nothing, but expect jameson is with us because they wanted him off their books so expect him to be available on a free at the end of the summer. he,d have been on a good wage there and will be after what he can get at pools. question is that is there better around and cheaper.

I wasn’t advocating signing him, though wouldn’t be disappointed if we did, but merely pointing out how a keeper with a competent defence, or part of a defence, can perform better.

Presumably Dixon is still with us next year, so will we keep Mafzari as cover or Jameson or another to take the position and Dixon as cover?

Jameson was poor in the first part of the season. Looks better now with decent CBs in front of him.

Killip is better than both our current keepers but I am not one to look backwards and mention it.
Hopefully we have someone decent in the pipeline

In the NL promotion season, Killip had the likes of Johnson and Liddle in front of him and he had Sterry stopping the cosses yet he was still poor.

Killip was crap….played like someone who lived in a remote mountain range in Asia, brought to the UK, read the one page on goalkeeping an old 1950’s kids Ladybird book on football and on arrival and was given a contract in error, when mistaken for a real keeper.
Get yourself on you tube and enjoy the whoopsie’s..I did.

surely he deserved a contract for life because he played well at stockport in his last game in a pools shirt. the killip fan club always mention that game as if it was a regular performance they saw from him.

We still have a major GK problem.
Especially with Dixon still on the books.
Probably be anutha loanie coming in.
Like I said previously sure Brad James is a free agent soon.

As I recall brad James is a good shot stopper but he suffers from vampire syndrome.

He played like that for Braintree when we played them away, Thats why Higgy signed him.
Thought everyone knew that.

Think it was more a case of the forwards didn't have their shooting boots on for those games.

I had a 66 break in Snooker a long time ago.
But it didn't get repeated. :angry-tappingfoot:

I don’t know which FA rule covers the biting of opposing player’s necks on the pitch, for the purpose of sucking out their blood, but I’d imagine it’s frowned upon by the authorities…..I suppose they could advise a garlic garland around opposing player’s necks for protection.
It’s a funny one

We've had some very good keepers in recent years:

The 4th choice from Coventry
Scott Loach
Flinders
Carson
Dimi

Neither of the 2 current keepers are comparable and nor is Killip. Let's not forget Killip couldn't regain his place in the side for Bristol although fit enough to be on the bench.

Dixon looked good when he came back into the team keeping us in many a game. Then he had a shocking run of games committing basic error after basic error. Very good on crosses, good on 1 to 1s, kicking, decision making, shot stopping all pretty average.

Jameson not too different from Dixon although not as many basic errors, average at most things but looks a bit cumbersome at times.

Killip very good shot stopper, loads of basic errors, average at best at all the other stuff.

James, not sure we saw enough to make a valid judgement and obviously remembered for that all important penalty save which probably cloud's judgement. Have heard he's been good for Spenny.

Id imagine we see Jamo coming back - seemed to get on well with Sweens too by all accounts.
Unless there is other keepers KP knows about and has had convos with i doubt we will see the GK debacle we had this season. Id like to see us stick with one main No1 whos very good and maybe have a youth player on the bench as backup GK - or like DC did, just have outfield players. That extra outfield man given hes a decent game changer would of been vital for us in certain games last season. DC made that count by having that option always on the bench and i think tbh its why we maintained such a good position all season that year.

As long as he's not handling any of the fragile stuff, won't matter if he drops a shirt or two wouldn't want him carry mugs (was going to say cups but we don't do them do we).

There’ll be loads of mugs down there soon, queueing for season tickets. bbolt

its not as if the game at the top is full of really good keepers when you see the mistakes many make on the highlights. they all seem nowadays able to make top class saves and a minute later make schoolboy errors. there seems a dearth of a steady type of keeper anymore who makes no mistake, commands their areas but make less saves of the season.
