I think it's best to learn to drive and take test in a small car like an i10 or vw up.
Easy to drive park with good visibility. Some instructions have cars that are too big with bad rear visibility.

Oh and a bike as an instructor as a woman may distract him.

I’m sick of seeing people using large cars totally inappropriate for taking your driving test on…the small car gives you a big advantage

I am mate, but no availability till around July I'm afraid. Anyway, my car would probably be too big according to all these experts on here, despite being easier to manoeuvre, better all round vision and just as economical as the the small cars driving schools used to use years ago, mainly because of fuel economy, which doesn't really apply nowadays with modern engine technology. Anyhow what would I know, only been going 20+ years now

Know him really well and is a top bloke, that's assuming he's not retired?

Ian has been retired for a couple of years now, he's a great bloke, learnt a lot from him over the years, always happy to give advice was Ian.

I must bow to your 20+ years it, puts my 50 in the shade and not a point on my licence either, but we ain’t experts, just learning from individual experience and every driver has their own preferences.

Ian gave me driving lessons back in the 1980's. I was almost disappointed when I passed my test as it was such a good crack/laugh driving around the town with him.

not with him, but felt just the same after passing my test. however he was a good tutor but not for young lasses as every second word started with F or C but it suited me.

thing with small cars, i learned on an 1100 is that slight mistakes you make especially on clutch control seems magnified unlike bigger ones. i was naughty before passing my test and drove on the road before passing but the car i had was much older and bigger that the 1100 but i found it easier to drive especially gear changing and manouvering.

Thanks for all the advice but I have gone for my old mate Dave King. I have know Dave for around 30 years and I find him honest trustworthy and a gentleman. I know many many people who have passed 1st time with Dave, he is a man with vast experience of being a driving instructor and a man with incredible patience. When my lad asked my opinion the first name out my mouth was Dave King but unfortunately I had lost his mobile number and assumed he had retired early. Thanks again for all your inputs.
