is lennie still at the club. if so it might be interesting listening to em talking about all their yesterdays. fine if he has kept up to date with the game unlike many of a similar age including me i should add who still live in the past at times regarding players and modern shithouse tactics.

I can see him getting involved with training - maybe Lenny taking a step back and having Ron in the mix aswell. This is great news for me !
he surely will have to be working closely with the manager anyways. UTFP !

Take a step back sctatchinghead Have you or anyone else really got a clue what Lennie does with his time since Kevin Phillips was appointed? To me it feels like when Dickie Dosh 'swapped roles' with Craig Hignett - and slowly disappeared like the Cheshire cat's smile.

Raj certainly likes surrounding himself with old footballing heads to make up for his own shortcomings - and I don't suppose they come cheap.

If KP gets the push, who would you back in a fist fight between auld Len and auld Ronnie?

I think KP will be looking over his shoulder when he realises how popular Ronnie Moore was and still is, if he is a scout he won’t be involved in training ? He have a look at the current squad though, I can imagine the fans chanting his name at the next home game more so if Pools are playing badly. Where does this leave Joe Monks, I would assume Moore will be scouting for next season, a bit late in the day for this season.

Hopefully they work well together, and can agree on a style of play so
We can recruit accordingly

I would imagine KP will jump at the chance of having the experience of working with Ronnie Moore. Not only will Ronnie be able to find him the players he wants and needs but also running the rule over opponents.
This could turn out to be a masterstroke as we are not employing a rookie here but someone who knows the game backwards. One big advantage is Ronnie cares for the club and is as near to being a Poolie as you can get from an "outsider".
I've got a good feeling regarding this appointment but as usual time will tell.

I think Ronnie enjoys it and I’d rather take his valuation of a player than someone in an office going through lists….he should have a fair few contacts and know the things that can’t be found by relying on statistics.
I’d forget all the wild theories, he’s the sort of bloke who’d want to be part of the set up and not get involved in club politics.
Great appointment.

I reckon big Ron is here for one purpose and that's to build a team over the coming months for a promotion push. Looks to me that Raj is indeed gearing up this time around. BTW a wonderful perfectly timed appointment  Welcome home Ron we have all missed you.

He brought some good players into the club during the great escape that's for sure.
Good to hear him talking about character too rather than just the footballing ability. Also checking out opposition teams before we play them.
It would seem that Raj must have a plan if he's building the backroom staff for next season.

A great character as well as an astute football man to have back at the club. A favourite memory of mine w when he appeared with a rasta wig on as that was the theme for the end of season fancy dress for the poolies. Good luck Ronnie.

Not sure if he is in the dugout every game, I cannot remember him not being in the dugout sctatchinghead As for training I have seen him a few times with KP and Sweeney on the training pitch.

thats what i thought and hope we are both right. if he is the average man of his age i cannot see him just relying on the tippy tappy alone. do not know what he has actually been doing since he left pools but doubt h,d have just been sitting on his arse watching repeats on the box. might have done similar jobs somewhere else as reserve games used to be a case of spot the ex managers doing scouting jobs for somebody in the stand.

While I think it could be a good appointment a few things stick out.
1. Has he just got the job because of who he is? Bringing Ronnie Moore in is always going to please the fans and gives a buffer to Joe Monks (who has been questioned for his loan signings) and Raj himself if the next set of signings aren't great.
2. There's not many games left in the season, shouldn't this have been sorted months ago if we wanted to get somebody out there looking at 'key player targets identified by the club'? The 'identified by the club' bit of the press release also doesn't fill me with confidence as it says he won't be finding the players merely going to watch ones Monks et al have identified and giving an opinion.
3. While he did bring in some very good players in his time as manager; Tshibola, Hugill, Mirfin, Adam Jackson etc. There was a lot of misses. Ebby Nelson-Abby, Kudus Oyenuga, Harry Worley, Jason Banton, Andrew Boyce to name a few. This isn't something to bash him with merely to point out he (and no one involved in recruitment) can wave a magic wand and bring in only good players.

Every managers signings are a mixed bag, name a manger who only signed perfect players, anyone knocking duff signings is riding on the ‘Magic Roundabout’.
The job is ….scout, so I think some people are reading more into it than what there really is.

Agree Snowy even top managers have some poor signings the difference is they either get rid or hide them away as a squad plater or put them out on loan while they adjust to being with a big club and their loan spell usually includes the option to buy.

He could scout the next Maradona but i suppose the final word may be with KP and Lennie ? who knows.... I highly doubt it was an appointment for this season but an early statement of intent for showing us fans " look the club are preparing for next season early" and it does give a bit of security to us fans knowing Joe and him will be working as we speak to secure us some decent players for next season already.

Im just glad we have this figure back in the club - id like to hope hes also helping out doing other things too.

but as someone posted on Facebook, is this a mere shoe in until it all goes bad for KP and Ronnie is Caretaker manager come X-Mas ? Stranger things have happened at Pools we know that for sure !

good luck to him... and if he is working on bringing someone in soon for this season then i hope its another CM and a pacey winger with a good end product !

Am I right that Monks has effectively had a promotion from Head of Recruitment, where he brought in the 14 loanees this season? That's 14 players who've had very little impact truth be told.
I just don't find this very reassuring tbh.
I do like Ronnie as a character though, he brings positivity and is a thoroughly nice bloke. Think his role will be limited but we need all the help we can get with the rebuild. I'd be surprised to see him anywhere near the dugout though.

Monk's has always been Head of Football Operations or something like that. I think it was just assumed he was a head of recruitment as we’ve never really heard anything from him…

Sure his title when he first arrived had something to do with player recruitment... orrrr we all did the same thing and just presumed because of his previous post where he scouted players that he would be doing the same thing here. Ill find the article where he was announced and have another read if i get time. But if he has had something to do with KPs recent incomings then alot has to be desired and no wonder perhaps Raj has brought in the trust and knowledge of Ronnie.

Welcome back Sir Ronnie!

This is the best news we've had all season.

He knows what the club means to the fanbase and only good can come from this, in my opinion. Ronnie has obviously still got great contacts in the game, knows a decent player for this level, and clearly still has a great affinity for the club and us the fans.
Raj also needs a bit of praise for this appointment and it maybe suggests he's serious in moving the club forwards again.

Maybe Ronnie fancied dressing up as a Blues Brother for Dorking Away- was what sealed the deal!

I get the awful feeling some people putting 2+2 together and getting ……754,765,007,399,126, 677, 333.
Next it’ll be aliens are operating the kiosks, the turnstiles are operated by several clones of the same person, Raj is Blofeld excavating a giant volcano under the Vic which is why he won’t sell up till it’s finished and the consortium is the CIA.
The supporters club hides a giant missile silo and vegetables are grown under the turf which pays for the running of the club.

I think most loyal ST buying fans will decide for themselves whether to renew or not without any thought as to what Raj has to say. I'll be renewing again because Pools are my club regardless of who actually owns us, and regardless of if we sign someone from the likes of The Dog and Duck or from Man City.
