Hopefully the team is more united than the bunker fans and they pull off an unexpected 2-1 victory.

Only at pools will a 7-1 humiliation followed by a ground out 0-0 against a side whose best player we took last year be hailed as ‘bouncing back’ and ‘showing resilience’

Great result in the end but it was never a comfortable watch. A clean sheet no less. Very welcome three points. might just be enough but another three on Monday would be nice. never satisfied am I.

Will take the three points which should cement safety (what a great achievement!)
Serious surgery needed on the team, let’s hope all your faith in Dr Philips and nurse monk is warranted !

Certainly not a classic but a vital victory and clean sheet. Don't get a clean sheet at home for 13 months then get two in a row, funny old game!. Was expecting more from Halifax, thought they were very poor for a team who had won 7 from 8. All you can ask for is hard work, 100% effort and commitment, thought we got that today. There wasn't much quality attacking play from either side so it was going to take a set piece or mistake to win it. Stephenson deserved MOM as well today, how any manager could think Lacey or Oduroh is a better option than him is beyond me! Decent hard earnt victory

Maybe we didn’t allow Halifax to play their usual game, maybe it made them look poor.
That’s the playoffs gone for them.

Result never in any doubt. Credit to KP and the lads, they simply had to put in a shift and they duly did. Rode their luck at times but got the breaks for once. Halifax are a competent side but not promotion material methinks.

After our midweek trouncing I wasn’t particularly looking forward to today’s game but quite enjoyed it in the end. Lots of effort and endeavour from both sides although there wasn’t a lot of goalmouth action to show for it. Their keeper, who had looked quite commanding throughout, ended up making the error which led to our goal. A definite penalty, well spotted by the referee, who had a decent game apart from missing a few yellow cards for heavy Halifax challenges.

Best for me were two players who were left out of the starting eleven on Tuesday - Cooke and Stephenson. Stephenson handled their wide players well and looks impressive going forward and Cooke seems to be the only pools player able to link midfield and attack effectively.

Yes, Mani battled hard, often surrounded by three or four of their players and didn’t get a lot of support for large parts of the game. Didn’t see much of Duffus or Grey.

See their manager is claiming they had two stonewall penalties turned down. Bollocks, they missed one sitter and had a couple of shots straight at Jameson, otherwise they were bang average and got worse the longer the game went on.

Very decent turn out in the Rink End again - I'm sure I've been at the Shay when they had less in than that for home games. :) There were two pleasant surprises this afternoon - it was lovely and sunny when bad weather was forecast, and Pools played well enough to grind out a result. To be fair, we were never in danger of being passed to death again the way Halifax play.

Maybe Bromley if Gateshead have to play them away but apart
From that I think ‘the heed’ are the best side in the division after chesterfield and
I hope they go up

A ‘good’ attendance at this level, a bog standard level in Div 2.

Snowy we both know we been in 800 to 1200 crowds in division 4 so 4000 ain't bog standard unless ya mean championship (div2) :o

The average crowd in League 2 (old Div4) so far this year is just over 6,000, I got a surprise too.
I was wrong above claiming our attendance was bog standard for Div 2…by 50%. banghead
The average gate so far this season in this league is 2761…..

I suppose every clubs fans questions referees in defeat.
The penalty was 50/50 which we've seen more stonewallers not given.

There manager blameing the Ref for the 2 he thought were Deffo.

The last couple of gates have been boosted by decent away followings. Couldn't hear the Halifax attendance again because the PA still isn't fixed but they looked to have about 500 in. One bonus of having so many old League clubs in this crackpot division.

If Pools have a decent season in 24/25 that could easily add a couple of thousand glory hunters to home crowds - sounds like you might even be one of them

in real time i did think it was just outside the box. we have had similar where a ref chickened out and gave it a free kick a couple of inches outside the area. at least we did get a few breaks from a referee which is about time we did. plus we did have our fair share of luck which you need to win games. have always said unlucky teams never go up and lucky ones never go down. i,d say now if we played gateshead again and both teams played like they did they might win but not score 6 again after the break.

the attendance was 4,444 with about that number you said. there would be bound to be a few stay aways after tuesday and a few who were away on holiday. still not a bad turn out for a side who haven,t played a decent game for weeks. what does get me is why ex league clubs bring more fans away than the traditional non league ones do when their home gates are similar. do they watch their proper club when they are away i wonder.

Halifax were on a great run of form before yesterday and are still in with a shout of the play offs yet unlike Tuesday it was impossible who were near the top and who were nearer the bottom. Neither team looked very good imo which highlights what a shit league this is.
Young Stephenson had a good game playing against a winger who clearly had more pace than him but he dug in and the winger was subbed early 2nd half. He then grew even more in confidence getting up and down constantly even after taking a bad knock to his ankle. We'll done young man.

They were that much of a stonewall penalty that I can’t even remember them!

Halifax’s manager has got a hard working side that’s for sure and they fought hard for everything, but I can’t remember our keeper having to make many last ditch saves.

The announcement said 474 away fans so not a bad guess mate.
