If ever the media are accused of being London centric this proves it.
The M25 is closing one section for two days and they make it sound as though this is a war zone not two days of avoiding road works……apparently they’re concerned it will affect Tom Cruise who will be filming in the area…..what a shallow world we live in.

They should come and have a look at the Newcastle Western Bypass and Angel of the North - nearly 4 years of ceaseless misery for motorists.

Teesside Airport has all the desirable destinations…..Dewsbury….er, that’s it.
I’m considering a time share there, because I’m not a full shilling.

Houchen said he would endeavour to have more destinations from Teesside, it will never for some reason, plenty of airlines have come and gone even Ryanair but only KLM have stuck it out as they use it as a hub for their long haul flights from Schipol. It’s nothing to with transport, friends or family and taxis are used. I use the train to go Newcastle Airport, the Metro goes direct from Sunderland, by the time it arrives at the airport you are lucky if there half a dozen passengers so making Teesside accessible by train wouldn’t or bus wouldn’t make any difference to passenger numbers.

Bait Aken.
Me and Sussex have a laugh over flights and you turn into the Labour stooge and yet again use it to attack Houchen who you seem to be obsessed with bringing down by your continual slagging of the bloke…..you appear to me to be just here to pump out politics with a veneer of short football quips as a cover……. Is it the old tactic of join in with the ‘lads’ and keep pumping out negative background messages out on politics to your Party’s advantage….?
You ain’t fooling me….seen it all before in my union days.

we have a small section of the road between skipton and harrogate thats been closed for about 8 weeks now that does not get a mention even on the local news. its an important link for those living in both towns as well as anyone coming over from east lancashire or the north in the opposite direction. it causes me grief as the other two roads to get to the A1 are roads from hell and the other alternative is wasting fuel for the longer journey via the M62 where you go south before you head north. if this happened in surrey it would be national headlines as i,m sure it would affect their mental health.

Why am I bringing Houchen down, I am not, he has pumped millions into it, he is the one with the purse strings, no one could turn Teesside Airport around Labour or otherwise, it’s a lost cause.
As usual Snowy you post with out getting your head into gear and assume everything I say is anti conservative and not taking in what I actually meant, it wasn’t a dig at Houchen.
I could have really bored you Snowy, an interv with Houchen re Teesport, the interviewer tied him in knots, he struggled to answer the questions being put to him, btw it wasn’t a left wing interviewer.

Snowy mentions London Centric in his original post.

On TV the other night there was a thing about the great fire of Newcastle. About ten times the amount of people died than in the earlier London equivalent yet I'd never heard of it!

I have always been surprised that Teesside Airport has not expanded more as its catchment area runs from South Tyneside, County Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire.
Newcastle in contrast serves the heavly populated Tyne & Wear region but with a sparse population of Northumberland to the north.
I think we have a Newcastle centric North East to some extent.

We’ve always had a Newcastle centric problem…To the rest of the country we all live in Newcastle if we live in the North East..
Watch the ‘local’ news on BBC or Tyne Tees if you want proof.

Teesside Airport only survived before the Houchen era due to the offshore game.

I spent many a sunday night heading up to Aberdeen from there and so did everyone else as thats really only the ever people i used to see in there. Again the KLM flight was mobbed with the lads heading further North via Schiphol or again to go work in the Netherlands.

It was like a bus station - kind of still is tbh but i think its a good little airport and would be a shame if it ever closed.

Sure there is london flights now from there... or they might of canned them too as they where very expensive.

Funnily enough the first time i went to Florida we flew direct from there- walked straight onto the Apron from the departures door, couldnt imagine doing that from Teesside now.

Years ago when you received paid flights to Aberdeen I used to fly from Teesside, the flight stopped at Newcastle then on to Aberdeen. Oil companies then decided to stop paying for flights hence that flight stopped and it was the train to Aberdeen.
