Highest turn out in ethnic minorities wards….a one off due to circumstances as the town has a 38% Asian population.
Labour lose seat, but can’t see the relevance nationally.
Galloway has stated he is now going to try and drive local Labour Councillors out of office.
I always found him an opportunist and declared after the count this was for Gaza.
He also pledged to save Rochdale Football Club from extinction….

did exactly the same in a bradford by election a few years back then lost the seat at the next general election. personally i do not mind him and it would get really interesting if he could set up a left wing version of reform to shake up british politics.

Nah, it was early in the morning and the hounds were pestering me for their walk……
He’s charismatic, he tells a good story and he has a talent for spotting a niche and seizing his opportunity, the technical term being an opportunist gobshite..

I await his much publicised picture of him buying his Rochdale season ticket. That really did make me shake my head …oh dear

We are fellow travellers.
If Gaza hadn’t happened, this wouldn’t have been of as much interest to anyone and just another boring by-election….and Galloway would be hibernating.

Think you mean 's-o-c-c-e-r' - according to the Yanks football is their armoured version of rugby. And baseball is rounders for men in funny suits.

The Bunker doesn't permit use of the s-word to describe footie.

Think you mean 'football' - according to the Yanks football is their armoured version of rugby. And baseball is rounders for men in funny suits.

we have both made typing errors as we meant to say football. worst fear is the number of british sports fans who are getting interested in yank sports and could flow over into our games. fireworks pre rugby league games and even flag bearers at the vic feel a bit wanky for me. Then there is that match ball on a plinth bollocks as well where i expect an alarm to go off if the ref does not pick it off correctly.

I hate to see these monster flag wavers behind the goals in some Premiership grounds…why?

possibly its the only excitement fans get in many of todays top level games. if they are anything like the 2 tuesday cup games were that i kept swapping over every few minutes. its not as if i have a low attention threshold as i got through our fylde away game without having a break in viewing.

He was right in one respect; Labour have a problem in constituencies that have a large musrat population.

I doubt he’ll be a threat to anything, it’s just his opportunist way, if Gaza hadn’t flared up no one would have heard of him and Labour would have held on comfortably.
From his followers and supporters in his ‘Workers Party’ surrounding him after the result it would appear the ‘workers’ are predominantly Asian.

Galloway said he is going to have 50 representing his party in the G.E, I would imagine he will be selective in what constituencies they stand in, predominantly Muslim ?

You’re prediction in on the ball Mr J…if organised, they can get seats in Parliament out of all proportion to their true numbers.

This is what I didn’t get. G.G. Is a snake, however he was democratically elected, so this is democracy working, it isn’t democracy not working.

Perhaps Sunak should be putting his efforts into working out why virtually nobody voted for the traditional parties.

FWIW I reckon G.G. will be out at the general election.

To be fair the country could do with a seismic political shake up because this 2 party democracy is an absolute farce. As is regional Mayors, local authorities should have far more autonomy but at the moment things are being drawn back slowly but surely towards a single authoritarian state. Shameful really given our history.

You've missed out Nigel Farage as the guest speaker,mr accy ?? sctatchinghead ......sunak and starmer to run the drinks/hospitality on the night?

rather employ david blunkett to cook and serve drinks than than either of those men in grey anywhere near my house. the two S es doing a stand up routine together would be a real sight to behold.

Lived in digs in Hemel Hempstead in my younger days, both the husband and wife were blind, she cooked a great breakfast but admitted she didn’t do eggs very well which always had hard yolks. In fact she cooked too much, huge bowl with bacon and sausages etc we didn’t want too offend her so we used to give some of it to the guide dog. She must have realised, patted the dog one day and said your getting fat !
