Hopefully now we can play Mancini behind the front two.

Apparently plays on the left and has played left back. Don’t think he is classed as a winger.

He's a left something then, as long as it's not left out.
There's a clip of a goal he scored against Aldershot. He hit that from way out with his left peg so if he does that for us I wouldn't mind if we call him a left sided goalkeeper.
He's a six footer allegedly.
Anyway a warm welcome to the lad.

He is a very good free kick taker. Scored a few over the years including one beauty for Oldam this season. He cuts in from the left wing and scored quiet a few into right bottom corner. The lad looks very confident in and around the box can beat a player and knows how to finish.

This from my Oldham mucker. " Thunderbolt of a left foot, scores from outside the box & creative. Lost his place because Mellon doesn't play with a left sided midfielder ". Not an out & out winger in the usual sense. Thinks he might be able to cover at full back, but more of an attacking midfielder. He really likes him.

Well done once again KP for signing quality players. Can finally see a way out of this horrible darkness we have had to endure for most of the last 12 yrs or so. We'll done Raj for backing your manager and continuing to finance our club. At this rate its well possible you will convert even the biggest doubters.

Steady on. Raj has got us here by not allowing this kind of signing (should be pretty standard fayre for a club like us). Is this financing or just more debt generation? I don't mind getting on with things but I would like to do so without nausea.

Nah I'm just not interested in worshipping the guy who got us into this shit. He will get my respect when it is due. He's got a lot to put right. Still, even the longest journey starts with the first step.

No one talking about worshipping, its about being pragmatic. Also, no point in going through life with a massive cob on about something you cant do owt about.

Getting sick of the same old questions on the OS every time someone signs, but Dickenson was no bullshit - he’s here to get game time. End of.

Ah yes pragmatism. You cant get any less pragmatic than blowing smoke up someone's arse for no reason.

"He will get my respect when it is due. He's got a lot to put right" = pragmatic and also entirely true.

However I am angry with Raj Singh conducting his ownership of HUFC like this. Yes ,he can redeem himself but there is no proof that he is redeeming himself until there is proof.

Welcome to Pools Brennan!

He sounds like the new Andy Monkhouse - one of my favourite Pools players from the not too distant past

Sure Monkey signed initially on loan from Swindon and we went on about a dozen game run where we won every time he played

Here's hoping Brennan can have a similar positive impact, and that he possesses some of Monkey's top quality shithousery - something we've not really had since he left.

From Mad John's In The Mad Crowd:-

Yorkshireman Andy Monkhouse began his career at Rotherham United and scored against Hartlepool on his league debut for the Millers. In 2006, after eight years at Millmoor, he signed for Swindon Town who had just been relegated to League Two alongside Pools. Danny Wilson brought the wide midfielder to Victoria Park on loan in November 2006. Monkhouse proved to something of a lucky charm during his loan spell at the Vic. He played in eight games and Pools won all of them without conceding a goal! Monkhouse himself weighed in with three goals including winners at Notts County and Mansfield. He certainly did enough to impress the management at Pools, as Wilson signed him on a permanent basis when the transfer window opened in January 2007.

Monkhouse remained in the side throughout the rest of what became a club record 23-game unbeaten run. He scored the only goal against former club Swindon, and added further strikes against Chester, Stockport and Darlington. Having contributed so much to the team, the winger’s season ended in bitter disappointment. Red-carded in the penultimate game at Rochdale, Monkhouse could only watch as Pools played Bristol Rovers on the last day, losing both the match and the chance of the divisional title.

With promotion secured, Pools spent the next six seasons in League One. Monkhouse was a first team regular throughout most of those six years, taking his appearance tally well past 250 games, and contributing a decent number of goals. He top-scored from midfield in both 2009/10 and 2012/13. The latter of those seasons saw speculation from the terraces that the player’s time at the club might be up. With relegation looking certain, and the 32-year-old midfielder out of contract, he looked a likely candidate for release. However, four goals in the last four games of the season went some way towards ensuring that Monkhouse’s services were retained for at least another year.

The 2013/14 season proved to Monkhouse's last at the club. He had been a consistent performer in quite a youthful side as Pools looked good for a top ten finish, but was injured in the early stages of a 4-0 victory against Bristol Rovers in March. By the time he returned a month later, a promising season had collapsed and Pools even flirted with the possibility of relegation before finishing in 19th place. With manager Colin Cooper looking to freshen up his squad in order to improve on that disappointing finish, Monkhouse was released in the summer of 2014. He finished just two games short of becoming the 12th player to make 300 league appearances for the club, but he comfortably exceeded that figure in all competitions and scored a total of 52 goals.

yes, same questions and usually similar answers. most sound scripted for me but at least brennen and the rest signed feel like proper footballers which is a big change. just hope the new lads can bring the best out of those who were with us prior to their signings.

Sweet left peg....reminds me of Richie.

Interesting to see where KP wants to play Dickenson.
Has been playing central midfield recently.
Left wing back?

Thanks for that Billy / Mad John
My glasses aren't that rose tinted then!

Remember one away game I went to, in Monkey's last season with us,where I think we drew 1 each. I was berating a couple of our players for over hit passes, whilst saying how we needed to give him the ball as he was our best player and most likely to be able to produce a something from not a lot. Anyway about fifteen or twenty mins elapsed the bloke next to me who was probably late 50's started referring to him as Andrew - turned out it was Mr Monkhouse Senior!

Dickerson looks the best of the 3 wide players brought in based on a very limited sample, looks a good player at this level

The players KP has brought in appear to better than Askeys recruitment, why weren’t these players identified during Askeys reign, I thought Pools had a Recruitment specialist ?

Spoke to a Colchester supporter about Dickenson and Senior told Senior on his day was a good player and Dickenson was very good and a crowd favourite.

could be that some might have been but ended up not trusting askeys judgement on players in the end.

I might be wrong but it seemed to me that Askey was fixated on bringing in players he'd managed before? And haven't we got a new recruitment man now?
One thing that is obvious is that the lower down the Leagues you go the more defenders hate playing against pace, yet Askey played without any whereas KP has brought in 3 wingers.

fine as long as the players have pace thats added to a good football brain. some pace is the only thing they have in their locker as we found out with mcdonald. i like to watch a real pacy side but some teams succeed though when thats the last thing they have.

We have added some good footballing diversity to this squad which i cant remember us having. Both right and left footed wingers. Absolutely ideal at this level. Strong big CFs along with Kahn and Grey (Wreh?) with pace and who can get in behind. KP has seen in his first week what we have been crying out for, for ages. Impact players off the bench and a damn good CB pairing. Im just glad that both CBs are ours and we can go into next season with a start of a good spine. Hell id even keep Feaths on another year given his performance at the weekend.
This new lad really is better than this level and i think hes the type of player we should be looking to snatch off Oldham at the end of the season.
We need quality like him... like Kahn etc. Lads who have done it at higher level but consistently.
Cooke was like a new player at the weekend and i feel hes deffo playing for the shop window now.

plus with all that they can make those better who were with us before they were signed. previously players were dragged down to the level of others. at least its going to be a more interesting ending of the season than it looked to be.

Was watching some interviews and footage of the lad - seems he has done the whole " been fantastic, managed well at a higher level - wanted by many... got crocked with a major injury and has slid down the leagues like a watery shite down the leg"
Seems really rated by the Oldham lot and they cant believe Shelton is still there and this kids not getting game time. Seems the main consensus was around his inability to stay fit - 30-40 minute man they are claiming him to be (ideal for us if only used as an impact sub) ?

Very much in the Mols mould of shooting an coming inside with a tremendous whip on him. The type of player im sure we all had Hastie dressed us to be before we seen him kick a ball !

Got his move to Exeter and came to them as a golden boy with goals whom they needed in that wing position ! did well there too.

Hes deffo a really good player and id imagine given his injuries would still be plying his trade at L1 level too

excited to see some more of the lad - hope it works out for him here

only problem yet again is the fitness and injury problems that go with him. recent history shows we are not lucky in that department and we can all do a better job than any player who is out injured.

If he hadn’t had the injuries, he’d have been a regular at L1 or above and wouldn’t be interested in coming to a mid-table National League team. So bringing him in on-loan to assess his fitness and long term injury proneness, seems to be a sensible move.

Our recent recruitment (up to the start of this transfer window) seems to be decent players with injury issues, or injury-free players who are shite, so at least we’re doing some more due diligence this time before offering a two year contract

Otis Khan injured in first game he played. No news about how long he's out for.

I think that was Duffus. KP said 3-4 weeks for him and that he’d gone back to Barrow for treatment.

I think he said Khan’s ankle had swollen up and they were waiting on results of a scan, but nothing has been announced since. I notice that you can’t see Khan or Mancini in the latest training montage…

He’s at Spennymoor, but if they aren’t fully Pro, then he could still be training with us.

Edited to remove my ignorance..

Hmm. Wondering if Khan will turn out to be one of those who spends as much time on the treatment table as he does on the pitch.
