Living in Tamworth who play in the league below, National North, I see they played away at Scunny last night, winning 1-0.

They are in top spot having played 31 games with a return of 69 points, whilst Scunny lying in 2nd spot have played 29 games with 57 points.

Tamworth have won 10 of their last 11 matches and not conceded a goal in their last 6 games.

They could be playing in the National next season and I would be able to walk to our away fixture - what's the closest you can do for an away game?

You should see the lad who plays centre half for Tamworth, Liam Dolman, makes Steve McNulty look like a proper athlete.
As for the shortest away game, mine was Pools v Darlo when I lived on the marina!

Bolton for me, about 10 miles. It's been a while though since played them. A 2 legged game in the league cup, got a draw at their place but lost 3-0 at home.

its a toss up for me between halifax town or bradford city in distance, but halifax wins hands down on the time it takes getting there.

No calculations required for me. I'm a 2 mile walk away from Solihull Moors. Even so i've only made the one game so far, a 2-1 win back in 2018/19 I think. Will be there later this month though.

Tough one for me, this.

Kettering's old Rockingham Road ground was at the end of my road so about 250 yds, new ground next to Weetabix 3 miles, though not played them in my 14 years living here - we did draw them in the FA cup about 10 years ago and was hoping for a replay but in usual Pools fashion, fucked it up by losing at home

Teams we've played in a league fixture,
Would have been Rushden and Diamonds before they rusted and died - about 10 miles away
Northampton 15 miles away
Coventry 35 miles away to the West
Lootown a similar distance going South
Leicester similar distance going North
Peterborough and Cambridge similar distance going East

(Fucking hell - just realised I live in a baron football wasteland- how depressing)

Stevenage 45 miles down the A1 - broke down on the way home in the lashing rain, last time
I went there, after our usual customary defeat- against woeful opposition.

Just Checked RAC route planner and my closest National league ground is Solihull - 48 miles away. Not been there yet, so might venture through there in a few weeks time.

Stoke is maybe 6/7 miles away
Macclesfield around 20
Wrexham and Chester both 30ish
Walsall about 30 too.

So no one close that we’ll play anytime soon.

Try great yarmouth. even norwich is not on the doorstep and your next choice is ipswich nearly 50 miles away. only good thing living near there was the pitches and standard of local football available for me to ref was good.

Closest for me is probably Southend, about 9,000 miles
Of course a friendly away to Perth Glory would shave about 8,985 miles off that figure.

I live in Luton. The away entrance goes though my back yard. Does that win?

Trouble is ……you just can’t go on a whim  The thought “Ah, Pools are playing tonight” is a pointless hope raiser.
Mind you checking the distances out it’s only 86 miles more to Hartlepool due to the oblique angle you come in at…not too bad

Oxford City is the closest in the current league, circa 25 miles away.

Have seen HUFC at Watford, Luton, MK and Oxford, which are all less than 25 miles away. Leyton Orient was less than 10 miles when I was still living in East London.

Well after yesterday's results Tamworth need 1 point from their remaining 4 games to be crowned Champions and elevated to the National League. Poor old Scunny will end up in the play offs whilst Chorley the only team able to pass Tamworth will probably have to fight it out with Scunny to see who joins Tamworth as our opposition next season.

You lucky bugger. Though I did get a nasty case of prickly heat the last time I was there - too slow to swap jeans for shorts.

Scunthorpe at one point were keeping tabs with Tamworth but not been doing well for months now. Would be surprised if they won the play offs. Chorley going well, but plenty of others in with a chance, Scunthorpe would be big surprise on current efforts.
