One can only speculate that the job was offered to an individual or more than one who turned down the offer? On another thread someone alleged the contract on offer was on a month to month basis and there was no money to buy players. We all knew about the latter but the monthly contract business (if true) is quite a barrier one would think. I dont suppose the salary on offer is all that high. Wondering if we'll end up with some unknown feller.

Kevin Phillips was such a strong rumour that even the Mail ran a short item on it and mentioned a series of interviews being held "earlier in the week". Seems likely interviews did actually take place but with no outcome announced, one can only specualate as to the reason why. No bugger wanted the job (maybe).
