Certainly score some goals you have to look with envy what can be done.

You can look and learn but envy isn’t necessary.

Marcus Dinanga scored another 2 after coming off the bench late on. Can't see Gateshead holding onto him when the January transfer window opens for EFL clubs, but you'd expect them to do some good business with the proceeds if the recent past is any guide.

Every dog has its day and Gateshead look very good going forward at the minute - highlights are on here from 5 mins 30 seconds:

know if the money was more or less the same i,d prefer to play for gateshead than with us. they,ll want to win games as much as we do but there is a lot less pressure on them to succeed especially from the fans.

Watched the Stockport v Aldershot game tonight and was very impressed with the Shots, Tommy Widdrington doing a good job there, their goalie was impressive too, commands his box well and his kicking was excellent. Good win at the Lg.2 leaders.

Wonder what sort of team Stockport put out, but surely it would have been a strong side in the FA Cup…regardless, well done Aldershot.

County had a decent team out, Alder shot did a job on them.
Player called Stokes is hitting the headlines lately.

And the manager needs to come home.

He played 56 games for us, so if that qualifies as home, there’s four other teams ahead of us in the appearance’s stats

well the rollicking must have worked Stockport put 8 past bottom of the league Sutton, maybe Askey has to adopt the same stance instead of constantly saying after the every game the players gave everything.

a machine gun post situated on the roof of all four stands might help.

Aye, I thought they that even Newcastle were feeling a bit wary of the threat of their neighbours over the river.

The Heed have got another rebuilding job on their hands. 3 players recalled by their parent clubs, a lad out with a fractured skull and their best attacker bought by Williamson for MK Dons.

Ah well, it's an ill wind... Could be one less rival for a play-off spot for Pools to worry about (ooh, me sides)

A major operation: hope you are recovering well. Being a Hartlepool lad did you wake up from the operation and declare "Tis but a scratch"?

It was two years ago last November - and has worked a treat, thanks. I opted for the big one rather than stents as soon as I was told it would last a lot longer.

I did wake up feeling fighting fit, but that was the morphine  Then a couple of miserable days and nights, but by the third day I felt fine (relatively speaking) and they let me go home the day after. They're dab hands at bypass surgery at the James Cooke in the Boro. The alternative is another specialist unit in Newcastle, but I'm sure the crack is better on Teesside.

Getting hammered 4-0 half time. Looks like the depleted squad is struggling. I can only see bad things ahead for them unfortunately.

What surprises me is you’d thinking being literal neighbours Newcastle would be happy to loan players, but it’s funny how they prefer to send out players far and wide but rarely in their own neck of the woods.
Surely they can’t offer that much of a threat.

Can only imagine they don't want to lose any support merchandise from their fans south of the river. Gateshead with a near 200000 population.
Remember when Colne Dynamoes got to close to Burnley.
Don't think Boro would do the same for Stockton just one scenario others are welcome.

Gateshead public has almost no interest in their own team, you would think they would help more. In the last week they have had the heart of the team ripped out, think they have lost 6 players.

They have a growing fan base, but the lure of the chest beaters over the river pulls them into its orbit.
It’s a very anonymous place Gateshead, it’s like a Newcastle suburb in reality with no really local identity.

Watched them a couple times, played some fantastic football for the non league, whoever does their scouting can spot some players. Very similar to how we were going into the play offs.

think we can learn from them about their scouting network but thats it. its correct about gateshead and if it wasn,t for the river you,d think you were in newcastle still if travelling south. bit like going through manchester and getting into salford. lack of support was one of the reasons they lost their league status and without checking i,d be shocked if there gates were ever higher than ours or darlo across any league season back then.

Halifax are another team with continuous good recruitment. They seem to lose lots of first team players every season, like gateshead did in the summer, and still challenge for the playoffs.
Both teams have a club identity making recruitment easier as the next manager will play the same style so less player churn

Saw highlights of Chesterfield v Gateshead. Why is it we never play a team with goalkeeper as poor as the heed one? Not having a go at the young Chelsea loanee, just observing that opposition keepers always play blinders against pools.

Halifax are another team with continuous good recruitment. They seem to lose lots of first team players every season, like gateshead did in the summer, and still challenge for the playoffs.
Both teams have a club identity making recruitment easier as the next manager will play the same style so less player churn

at a guess there are 10 teams league and national league within 30 miles of halifax. its much easier for them recruiting players than us due to them not needing to move to the area. if distance is our real stumbling block to signing new players then the club must seriously think about doing a barrow and train further away from the town somewhere like south yorkshire.

What surprises me is you’d thinking being literal neighbours Newcastle would be happy to loan players, but it’s funny how they prefer to send out players far and wide but rarely in their own neck of the woods.
Surely they can’t offer that much of a threat.

Also the Halifax manager builds his tactics around the defensive side of his squad, According to Halifax fans, Who actually call it boring.

You're not wrong about locality but they seem to pick players up from much further down the pyramid or players released from nearby clubs who don't play much/at all and then immediately hit the ground running. They don't pay well, for example Mani D was their highest earner and they couldn't get anywhere near what we paid him. You'd think we could compete with them for players despite location as we can pay a bit better.
I don't think we should move training at all, I think that takes away from us as a club.

Is this not a case of playing to their strengths? They don't have the budget to sign expensive attacking players who guarantee goals (see above comment on Mani D). Defenders are cheaper and you're more likely to pick up a win if you keep a clean sheet (obviously). Adam Senior would walk into our team as would Tyler Golden at right back, it's just maybe a case of their forwards aren't good enough to consistently score goals due to the quality they can pick up on their budget but you'll still see every season 3/4+ players leaving Halifax to go to a league club or a bigger budget national league club.

if that was the case pools would be the goaless draw specialists. didn,t manny d commented that he wanted away from them because they played non football. seems at our level seem to be good at one end of the pitch and not at the other. know we are sick to death of these goals we conceed but would we be happy once the newness wears off if we had a good defence but never look like scoring.
